Peter Capaldi s magical final chapter as the Twelfth Doctor sees the Time Lord team up with his former self, the First Doctor (David Bradley, Game of Thrones, Harry Potter)
and a returning Bill Potts (Pearl Mackie), for one last adventure.

Two Doctors stranded in an Arctic snowscape, refusing to face regeneration. Enchanted glass people, stealing their victims from frozen time. And a World War One captain destined to die on the battlefield, but taken from the trenches to play his part in the Doctor s story.

An uplifting new tale about the power of hope in humanity s darkest hours, Twice Upon A Time marks the end of an era. But as the Doctor must face his past to decide his future, his journey is only just beginning…

Twice Upon A Time is written by Steven Moffat, directed by Rachel Talalay, and executive produced by Brian Minchin. The 60 minute special guest stars Mark Gatiss as The Captain and Nikki Amuka

Except thinking about it, Time of the Doctor wasn’t on series 8 box set. So not sure if I should get this or not.

    • Doctor Mysterio

      January 18th, 2018 - 6:35pm

That was in the anniversary boxset with Day Of The Doctor, which is why it wasn’t included with series 8.

For most of this episode they didn’t do anything. Also, in trial of a time lord the master said that something went wrong between the Doctor’s 12th and 13th regeneration causing the Valeyard. Does this mean Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor is the Valeyard?

Well the Regeneration Between 10 And 11 was the 12 – 13th Regeneration so it would go there. But he didn’t even say 12th and 13th, he said 12th and final so theoretically in can come anywhere from Ten regenerating into Eleven onwards.

The master never said something went wrong,he merely says that this “is somewhere between your 12th and final incarnation…..and I must say you don’t get better with age”. This odd line means that the valeyard can be between any regeneration. Big finish has already confirmed that the time lords created the valeyard out of the negative emotions of the doctor as a “black ops program”.

did they cut the full regeneration as with press previews?

      December 17th, 2017 - 6:45pm

Apparently some of the spoilerific scenes were cut?

    • 100,000 BC

      December 17th, 2017 - 11:44pm

They cut it as soon as the regeneration glow faded away, so you saw the regeneration but none of Jodie herself.
I don’t think any other scenes were cut, I know some pretty major spoilers (obviously I’m not going to share them) from watching it so I can’t think of anything that might have been cut for being MORE spoilery.

I thought it was a fitting epilogue to the story of a brilliant Doctor. Roll on Whittaker!

How fickle and ambivalent some fans are though out there. I,m Not including you 100,000bc but there are those out there but a few months ago were dreading the very idea of a woman doctor even though its been heavily hinted in forums etc and the series itself. I personally can,t wait for jodie to breathe a new lease of life into this brilliant series. Roll on Autumn 2018.

Once again a new spine design with the DW insignia, so hilarious that no Blu Ray release from the Matt Smith era to now has a consistent design.

I know now. just seen. I was rather hoping they,d include all capaldis christmas specials like they did with The time of the doctor Bluray. So i,ve just ordered all 3 separate fom amazon. Thats the only reason i held back buying them for so long.

      December 16th, 2017 - 10:44pm

They did that for The Time of the Doctor adding all 11th’s Xmas Specials and the majority of buyers hated that, doubt they’ll do it again here.

    • THE ERGON

      December 17th, 2017 - 12:41am

I understand that. It meant people paying out for something they,d already bought again. nobody knew. I just wasn,t going to be burnt twice so this time ive stuck it out to capaldis end to see what they were going to do regarding the final release.

It’s have been nice if they released it in Steelbook form alongside The Tenth Planet, World Enough and Time and the Doctor Falls. It wouldn’t really be necessary to include those stories with it but it would be nice to pad it out and include all the stories in this little arc.
