So they don’t actually have the touch control sonic screwdriver?

I got stung by this but I believe the retailer when they said it was an accident and they were very contrite and helpful in the end.

It isn’t even in stock on the CO website.

      September 8th, 2014 - 8:26pm

I have to agree, it is a genuine mistake and the seller was very nice about it…not many sellers would offer a refund and a free sonic like that.

However until it’s either in stock in the Entertainer and on the CO site, I think I’ll wait for this

Not a lot, it’s now touch activated (no more button on the end) and the end is now a ‘power core’. It’s not much change but still a nice addition.

The Removable Power Core has featured in Series 8!

In “Into The Dalek”, The Doctor gives the ‘spare’ core to Ross to swallow, so he can track it’s signature and follow the anti-bodies

So there you go, it IS canon

You know I could be wrong, but I’m sure that in Deep Breath when the Sonic is rolling round on the floor that there was a hinge on the bottom, so maybe the button on the end of the original toy was accurate after all but just never shown onscreen.

Actually, in the episode “The Time of Angels” the 11th doctor uses the button on the bottom of the screwdriver to “sonic” river. Just a little tidbit of info for you 🙂

    • NCC1701D

      August 27th, 2014 - 9:26pm

So it would seem the button on the bottom wasn’t so much of a ‘gimmick’ after all.

    • Russell Sellers

      August 27th, 2014 - 9:58pm

The weak hinge was annoying, but that is down to poor materials.

    • Minembo

      August 29th, 2014 - 3:00am

Well the reason for that is because on the show prop it had a tiny magnet to hold it but the character options one didn’t…

Likely not, CO seem to do lots of non canon stuff with their sonics. Always possible though….

    August 27th, 2014 - 12:54pm

I love the idea of the bottom core but I do have worries weather or not it’s going to be securely on as the 11th dr sonic had that hinge that would never close ,but in my eyes this is a great improvement especially the touch sensitive feature .

      we don’t relay know

as it has never actually been on the series

I imagine it might be where the sonic gets its power from or something like that.

it might be included in series 8

Can anyone tell me, does Amazon have these available now, by which I mean not for pre-order but for sale now, as the Amazon page suggests, or have you got to wait, because both Forbidden Planet and Forbidden Planet International don’t get them for a few weeks yet. Oh and it is the touch Sonic as the page suggests and not actually the single button one.

It’s not really the 12th Doctor’s sonic. It’s the same design as the 11th’s. Unless there’s a minor difference I’ve not noticed yet…

It’ll be nice to finally have an 11th Doctor sonic screwdriver toy that is closer to working in the same way as the prop does. 🙂
