Doctor Who £1 Vending Machine Toys Set 1

Doctor Who £1 Capsule Vending Machine Toys

With thanks to www.tarcointernational.com

Ood_wotTo celebrate the 50th Anniversary eight new Doctor Who figures have now been released by Tarco International. Costing just £1, these figures will be available from vending machines up and down the country at places such as Motorway service stations, cinemas, various high street retailers and supermarkets.

Each figure has a slightly “quirky” feeling compared to their on screen counterparts (They are modelled on Characters from the game Worlds in Time) making for something a little different.

The range at present consists of…

  • The 11th Doctor
  • Tardis
  • Weeping Angel
  • Cyberman
  • Ood
  • Drone Dalek
  • Supreme dalek
  • Eternal Dalek

Each figure measures approx 5cm high and feels very solid with a good finish for this size.

These pocket money toys are obviously targeted at the younger buyer but i have now doubt many of these will be finding their way onto collectors shelves!

At £1 per capsule you really cant go wrong with these and they make a nice little collection.

Aside from the Doctor and the Ood, these actually aren’t that bad. I wouldn’t mind picking one or two up if I had the chance.

They look suprisingly lively for such simple figures. Probably some of those crazy experssions – gives them a bit of character, and is a nice change from the usual DW figures.

Now… if I can just figure out how to get some of these to Australia… :p

The Doctor looks like he’s just walked out from the dead
The Cyberman is just like, chunky and lumpy.

I think the Doctor looks like the protaginist from Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs. The weeping angel looks awful, but nevertheless this is awesome.

    March 13th, 2013 - 6:08pm

    These are absolutely terrible!

In fact they are so bad I’m sure they will become a rarity in the future…

Now I just need to buy a set of the 8 figures?

I’m off to London to FP in April so will check them out & I have a local Tru so shall try there as well…

    • Radburn

      March 13th, 2013 - 7:45pm

Yes – Last time I was in London FP it was located by the stairs near the back & they had 3 machines. My local Tru varies between 3 or 4 machines depending on what they have in stock or is currently popular.

I wondered how long it would be. I think £1 for a gamble is a far far better than £8 with Titan miniatures.

Will make my journeys to TRU worthwhile again.

Oh! I thought these went in the big crane vending machines, where you only had a c.1/10 chance of getting one. I didn’t realise they were the smaller ones where you get one but it’s luck of the draw. Nice, but still not to my taste

Am I the only one that noticed the ‘planned cinematic release’ in the above statement? Does that mean a movie? Because I was under the impression that that wasn’t going ahead? Or is the 50th Anniversary special going to be aired in select cinemas?
