Received mine today – looks great.

There’s an advert for volume 2 (featuring an Imperial Dalek on cover) at the back of volume 1.

Here’s the tweet from Panini, which David Goldsworthy mentioned, that lists what comics will be collected:

It means that Return of the Daleks (Doctor Who Weekly #1-4) will be the only strip included that hasn’t been previous collected, which is a shame. I hope it is also made available in another collection, perhaps when the various other backup strips are collected.

This is being solicited by Diamond Distributors, the North American distributors of comic books and other items to comic book shops, in the latest issue of Previews, the monthly catalog of upcoming sales. It’s currently slated for delivery to comic book stores December 14th, 2022, but these target dates are rarely met.

Does anyone know why the back-up strips from Doctor Who Weekly and the early monthlies have never been collected into volumes? Surely it can’t be a copyright issue considering the range of characters used over the decades. Thankfully Cutaway Comics are producing new material.

how about reprinting the annuals from the 1960s 70s and 80s ? a lot of fans have not seen them ever and the prices of some of the originals are way over the top

I hope its more or less stories that have yet to be printed, possibly even TV Comics Doctor Who Comic Strips before the first issue of DWM as they did start publishing these in Doctor Who Classics for a while…

I do hope there will be some way to import this into the States. Either Amazon.com offering it or WhoNA.com carrying some supply. Or, at least, hopefully Amazon.co.uk will export books to the US.

When I first saw the headline, I thought it was another collection of the TV 21 comics. Glad to see it was a collection of other Dalek comics.

It would be interesting, though highly unlikely, if the Dell comics adaptation of the Doctor Who And The Daleks movie made it into this collection. It did get reprinted in Doctor Who Classic Comics, so, who knows?

According to the Amazon.co page for this pre-order, it does list as shipping to the United States when I view it. So, I do have that option.

Definitely getting this! I wonder if “Metamorphosis” from the 1993 Yearbook counts as DWM and if it is, will that strip be included too?

It was included in a recent doctor who panini collection, age of chaos so presumably it will be included in either this volume or the next.

This is technically the next collection, it’s published by panini. It might feature the latest strip, the cushing one.

I reckon they’ll be waiting for 13’s run to be over so they can collect all of 13’s remaining issues in the next one. Just my theory mind, I know nothing about how Panini operates.

Very interesting! I’d been hoping for some collection magazines as trying to follow particular characters such as the daleks seems to always take you on a random tour of about 40 different comics, it’ll be nice to have some all in one place.
I’m not really caught up on the comic copyright situation, but does anyone know the logistics of republishing the Dalek books from back in the 60s, such as the Dalek Outer Space Book? That thing goes for ridiculous amounts on ebay and doesn’t seem like it’d been reprinted at all.

I seem to remember there was a court case raised by the copyright holders (previously souvenir press) when the beeb published the dalek handbook… so probably not on the best terms for the 60s annuals. Hopefully with include fire and brimstone from the 8th Doctors comic strip run as well.

This says the ultimate collection so I think it will feature all of the dalek strips from issue 1 to the present day. There aren’t that many really. 3 backup strips (the very first one and 2 daak) plus the new 60’s style one page dalek strip. 2nd dr (1), 4th dr (1), 6th doctor (1), 7th dr (3), 8th dr (2) and cushing dr (2 I think). The page count is not really an indication as they are often bigger but at 164 pages this just feature a fair amount of material.

Just noticed it says volume one, it didn’t on the blurb I saw originally. So I presume if it’s two volumes then all of the strips will be reprinted.

No solid information but it looks like it may feature all of the dalek comic strips from panini. So dogs of doom – children of the revolution. It may feature the back up strips from the early days, the two daak stories and the first back up strip from issues 1-4 and it may feature the updated dalek strip that linked to the 60’s one. It’s pricey so I’ll need to know what it features as I have the panini collections but will get it if it features enough uncollected material
