I wonder if it will include the Daleks vs the Martians strip which featured Cushing’s Dr who, from the DWM spring special.

That one is mentioned as being in. It says a Peter cushing story is included and as this covers the period up to children of the Revolution then it is presumably daleks vs the martians that is in this one.

Not confirmed but it seems to be…
      Bringer of darkness (2nd)
      Up above the gods (6th)
      Emperor of the daleks (7th)
      Fire and brimstone (8th)
      Children of the Revolution (8th)
      Daleks versus the martians (cushing)

Other potential material is the dalek one page strips that continued the 60’s dalek strip and the latest cushing strip but I’m not sure if they will be included.

Will there be a 3rd. Volume? I’m not really au fait with the Dalek Stories from DWM, as I only purchased the odd mag intermittently over the years.

No, I don’t think so. There hasn’t been a Dalek strip in DWM since the eighth Doctor days.

The only other dalek material is the follow up strips to the sixties dalek strip and the latest cushing strip. So unless they have renegotiated the rights for the cushing movie adaptation there probably won’t be enough to do a third. Unless the 2nd includes the rest of the material we’ll not get a complete set of strips otherwise

Dave, I think there is enough for a second Jodie book – it would likely include The Piggybackers (4 parts/32pp), The White Dragon (4 parts/32 pp), The Forest Bride (2 parts/12pp), It’s Behind You! (1 part/6pp), Hydra’s Gate (4 parts/24pp), Fear Of The Future (1 part/6pp) and The Everlasting Summer (4 parts/24pp), plus Monstrous Beauty (9th Dr, 3 parts/32pp) and Dr. Who & The Mechonoids (Movie Dr, 1 part/6pp) – that covers all the strips in DWM from issue 549 to 583.

It’s not the adaptation but an original strip printed in the magazine for a Peter cushing special issue. The story was by Alan barnes and called daleks versus the martians.

Ah, I’d never heard of that comic strip before. I always did like the Peter Cushing Dalek universe. Most Who fans don’t like the Dalek movies, but, taken as their own separate universe, I have a soft spot for them. Particularly the 2nd one.

I’m guessing the Peter Cushing story is the comic adaptation of the Doctor Who And The Daleks movie that came out from Dell Comics, I think it was? It got reprinted in a Doctor Who Classic Comics about 30 years ago.

Panini may not have the rights to reprint the adaptation now. It was something like 1994 when they printed it and the deal will have been either for a single printing or for a limited time period which will have lapsed by now. The 1996 story and the more recent one are original pieces not subject to the complicated rights concerning the two movies.

Thought a comic strip adaptation of the first Cushing Dalek movie had previously been published in ‘Classic Comics’ some years back, but this says ‘never before collected’ (whatever that means) so wondering if it’s something new?

Ordered! Have most of the stories (presumably bringer of darkness, up above the gods, emperor of the daleks, and the two Paul mcgann stories) but I don’t have the Cushing one so I’m happy to get this. Wish they would release the next Jodie book though!

Do they have enough material for the next Jodie book, given the strip-less days in lockdown and the reduced page count?

Interesting thought; what do we think is going to happen with the DWM strip if Ncuti really doesn’t appear until 2024? Will Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor carry on until then? With the magazine’s focus on the show’s past rather than present, I can see them doing a run of past Doctor strips for the 60th anniversary as an interim. Or if there is a Doctor between Jodie and Ncuti, will he get a strip run for a while?

There is enough for another Jodie volume. Personally I think Jodie should just continue until ncuti arrives properly. Give her a good 60th anniversary comic strip to fill in next year with along with other Jodie stories.
