Cutaway Comics Stretch Goal – Brian Blessed on board for OMEGA Audio CD

OMEGA’S AAAAAALIVE! Brian Blessed on board for OMEGA audio

Cutaway Comics, Manchester’s comic imprint exploring the worlds of Doctor Who, announces its first audio adaptation. Their latest title, OMEGA, has smashed it’s target and initial stretch goals as it goes into the last days of it’s Kickstarter.

Announcing a final stretch goal, Cutaway Comics are launching an audio adaptation of Omega, written by the strip’s author Mark Griffiths and starring Flash Gordon and I Claudius actor BRIAN BLESSED in the title role. Rogue god and stellar engineer Omega stokes chaos on the planet Minyos to escape his black hole prison. Will he destroy the universe in the process?

Fresh from Bleak December’s audio adaptation of cult horror film The Wicker Man, Brian will be taking on the role of the rogue god in a full-cast adaptation of the hotly-anticipated comic directed by Anthony D. P. Mann.

Omega’s co-creator Bob Baker says: “I am delighted to hear that Brian has accepted the role of Omega, who else but such an iconic acting legend could play him? Paul Tams and I have had him on top of our wish list for K9‘s new projects for some time!”

Cutaway Comics Publisher Gareth Kavanagh adds: “Looking at something truly special for our final stretch goal, I was thinking who could have the stature to take on Stephen Thorne’s dominating performance in [1973 Doctor Who story featuring Omega’s first appearance] The Three Doctors? Then one weekend I watched Flash Gordon, and inspiration stuck. Brian was interested in taking on the mantle of Omega, and I’m sure that he will bring an iconic and powerful performance and produce something very special for our backers!”

The Omega audio will be available to backers in digital and physical formats, with physical copies available to those backing one of the merchandise packages.

The Kickstarter ends Thursday 26th November, with available perks including a unique opportunity to own a limited edition hardback of John Ridgway’s black and white art for the series and a brand new comic written by TV legend Bob Baker – Eldrad Must Live!

Cutaway Comics continues to invest in the future of the imprint with work progressing on future titles which include Paradise Towers: Paradise Found launching 2021. Bob Baker’s new K9: Megabytes hardback book featuring K9’s adventures with Axons, Mandrels and more is also available to pre-order at www.k9official.com

The Kickstarter can be found Here along with information on the project and a teaser video for Omega.

Surely this would make more money for them if it got a general release?

Now would be a good opportunity for Big finish to reunite Yrcanos with old sixie and an awkward peri. Thats if their ears could stand it.
