Character Building Series 2 Super Rare’s
Out of millions of figures available, there are just 500 of the Hologram Silent, and River Song, whilst 250 each have been made of Rory Williams as the Last Centurion and Amy Pond in a Pirate Costume. Most elusive of all however will be the Eleventh Doctor unshaven and in a straightjacket with just 100 pieces to be found!

I was lucky enough to get two super rare figs, the straight jacketed doctor and Rory the Roman. What were the chances of that?
The back print on the back of the Doctor was a nice surprise too, as this is missing from the publicity shots.
I had ordered 6 boxes of figures from Character Options to identify and resell, which isn’t a great deal. Much as I’d love to keep them in my collection, I wouldn’t dare. My two kids would have their body parts swapped round with Lego figs in a trice. And baby is very partial to minifig heads. Yummy. But before listing, I couldn’t resist taking a few pics of them around a Lego Tardis console I built.
Well, they’re both on Ebay now (my seller id is giftswithguts). To the future owner, take good care of them both.

September 13th, 2011 - 8:34amYes, they are randomly packed and distributed amongst the regular ones, so you’ll have to look through every pile you see to (hopefully)find one.
We have hardly any of the regular sets in Australia as it is, but I’ve scoured through the ones we do have and never found one. I also had the poor souls at WhoNA look through their entire stock (about 50 at the time) to see if they had one for me (they didn’t. But goodness, KUDOS on them for looking. They are a great store).
Short answer: yes.

If Character have super-rare complaints clogging up their email system everyday, they’re more likely to actually address the problem, rather than ignore it.

September 14th, 2011 - 5:58pmInterestingly enough the Character Group was featured in the Business Section in the Daily Express today. It said they expected a tough Christmas & were slashing their stock levels to meet reduced demand. Chairman Richard King was quoted:
“We’ve taken the decision not to have excess stock & be left with masses of product that isn’t selling. The retail climate is tough & people aren’t spending as much even for kid’s toys”
Strange that? I would have shelled out an extra £20 each for Super Rares if easily available – Good marketing strategy!

I’m sure they’ll push out more figures before Christmas, but I don’t know if series three would be amongst them (probably too soon, series two need to sell through first).

However I did get several packs from Toys ‘R’ Us in Oldbury, just off the M5.

September 10th, 2011 - 12:17pmI would even have a problem with them being super rares. I think the problem is these figures should be hard to find but not near impossible as they currently are. 1 of the five being in each box seems far fairer than one of the five in every ten boxes.

September 10th, 2011 - 8:02amFor series 1 I bought the full series of amazon (obviously excluding the super rares). The just found them in blind bags and selepated them up. I only had 3 S1 figures before that (as I had the sets). I will try to by some seperately coz I do not want 5 swaps.
