    Elgin store at 10am:

8 sets of the Robot (didn’t pick it up myself so all still there are this time)

Plenty of Marinus and Sensorite sets at £13 each (did get these though!)

Also two different lots of the Bobblehead Daleks and 11th Doctor dynamix, plenty of each.

Sent in a photo for the map

Hi mick. Have you had a look to see if there are colour variations between the sets, as you thought?

I was in Stowmarket today and there were 8 sets. I remembered your previous comments and had a good look.

Six heads were the reddish pink that seems to be the norm, but two were definitely more bubblegum pink. I imagine the plastic granules they use start out clear and they add a dye, some batches got a lower dose.

Be interesting to get your opinion!

      February 11th, 2022 - 9:05pm

Theres definitely a shade different on some of them but the 12 I put out today all looked the same shade of purple.

    • Richard

      February 12th, 2022 - 4:29pm

Ah, thanks! I think I’ve solved it. The coloured plastic is translucent pink. There’s then a little red paint sprayed around the outer edge of the pink piece – and some have very little of this red paint. I have one of each and you can see where the line of red paint begins on each figure. So, it’s a manufacturing variation.

Don’t suppose anyone’s seen any of the November Dalek sets in/near Bristol? I was checking regularly back in Nov/Dec but the only place that seemed to get anything in was the one up at Cribbs but only the 3 figure sets (not sure if I didn’t get to the Daleks in time, or if they just never had any)?

Cribbs Causeway did have a 2 or 3 of each Dalek set (but not many) right back at the start. There was a single set of one of them (I can’t remember which) on Wednesday morning of this week, but whilst searching for the elusive Hartnell Tardis, I haven’t seen any Daleks in the Bristol area since.

Seemingly there are loads out there unlike the 3 or 4 set waves. More evenly spread out across the country. Even the blackspots where there doesnt appear to be any, there should be plenty selling on ebay to acquire one.

There appears to have been an altered approach to distributing these sets. I have it on good authority that there are approximately 7k of these which is pretty high as Dr Who for B&M goes. These have been with B&M for a while but they pushed them out across their distribution system before allowing them to reach stores. It’s generally why they’ve appeared relatively evenly spread across the county in a short space of time. It appears to be working, it’s tempering the upper hand of those scooping sets up to sell on eBay – when there are far more in the wild there’s not the perceived scarcity in like previous waves. It’ll push eBay prices down as a result as the window for real premiums is massively compressed to the first 24, 48, 72 hours. I’d image it’s a model we’ll see more of.

Knowing there is such demand for these products its a more measured and sensible way to getting these out there and allowing more profit to go straight to Character and B and Ms coffers rather than Ebay, (even though there are people with mobility Issues who cannot always get to store) to keep these budget lines continuing. The distribution to stores seems to be a lot quicker for this set than they have been previously. I just hope its a trend for subsequant sets in the near future.

Anyone looking in the North East of Scotland over the weekend, as of close of business 10th Feb – Dundee’s Wellgate has a substantial number of the Robot sets, not sure what’s on the shelves but plenty out the back.

Visited all 3 stores in Coventry today. Was told by Gallagher store that ‘some guy came in yesterday and bought six’ and all had gone. Tricky as I am hoping to find some for friends who can’t, so tricky if amounts are ever restricted. Just have to hope it’s someone doing a favour and not making a profit 🙁

Managed to pick up a set today – delighted as the last wave never made it to my local B&M!
I love this site and really appreciate the work that booboo, and everyone else, puts into it. Certainly helps me know what things are coming out – and when. However I do feel that the scalpers are making use of all the information posted about these sets to line their own pockets. We give them dates, times and locations of where there’s stock – we’d be just as well delivering them to their door. Just my opinion, please don’t all jump down my throat.
