B&M 2022 10th Doctor Figure Set

Stocks have now arrived. Comments on this item be now be left in the Stocks Arrived Post.

Character Options is pleased to announce the next wave of Doctor Who figures for summer 2022, scheduled to land in B&M stores in September (but down to B&M when they put them out).

Each new addition to this line forms part of the 5.5” figure range and features new decoration as well as multiple points of articulation. The new sets come packaged in the familiar ‘heritage’ style Doctor Who collector packs; though, this time, there are a few changes that eagle-eyed fans might notice.

In this set, we have three all-new variants of the Tenth Doctor. The first figure depicted is the Tenth Doctor in his slightly brighter blue two-piece suit, pale blue shirt and burgundy tie that’s specifically tied to look like it did in The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith parts one and two.

The second figure is based on this same story but sees the Doctor wearing his iconic long duster style overcoat. The final figure of the Tenth Doctor is inspired by the comic book series The Tenth Doctor Adventures. This figure has a particularly ‘ragged’ look, with dirtied blue shirt, tie worn askew, and lower forearms exposed.

Al Dewar Creative Director commented “I think and hope the fans and collectors will really like these new sets. We have really spent time updating the look of the figures to make them different. The Eighth Doctor set, especially the TV movie and NOTD figures are a real delight and have a much more sophisticated look, befitting a modern action figure. I think they are the best yet. The Tenth Doctor sets have a very different and fresh feel and come with two never released variants. The Dalek sets not only feature new packaging, but we have finally brought to the fans the Dalek Supreme and a fully transparent Dalek from Planet of the Daleks! And The Death to the Daleks set is also very close to my heart!”

    Wow, I’m speachless.

    No new articulation.
    No new Head sculpt.
    No sonics.
    Innacurate outfits without pinstripes.
A cheap headswap from a comic cover that didn’t actually appear in the comic itself.
    A price increase.

At the very least couldn’t they have had the updated arm articulation? Maybe that alone would have made it worth it. If this happens again with the 9th & 13th packs later this year I’ll be crushed, surely the budget must have gone somewhere like a Ruth Doctor & Dwahn Master? Or a new Rose sculpt from series 1?

Is there any time war (2005 version) daleks coming out there’s so many cool variants like the black and silver supreme from master audio

The only Dalek variants coming out these days are the History of the Daleks sets. So at some point in the future, they will get to the 2005 I imagine. In terms of audio Daleks, perhaps they could release some later on, but there none of those at the moment.

What an absolute let down! This is just so boring and shows a real lack of care or interest in what the fans are asking for.

We wanted… Rose, Jackie, New monster, Clockwork Droid in a new colour, Unpossesed Ood, Cyberman Ghost, anything would have been better and actually not that difficult to deliver!

      August 11th, 2022 - 9:00am

True….they could have easily released any of those (except Jackie cause its a new sculpt). Would have been very easy for them to release an unpossessed Ood like you said, with updated colour to the tentacles like they did in series 4 and without the red eyes….and the Ghost Cyberman too, would be similar to the invisible Dalek they did…but idk maybe they only had the budget to make one translucent figure xD. Either way, its lazy.

Is there any time war (2005 version) daleks coming out there’s so many cool versions what haven’t been made yet and it’s annoying once a year seeing classic daleks being made instead

Jeeeez this is embarrassing, the fact that ‘three figure tenth Doctor set’ literally meant they’re releasing three tenth doctors has made me feel like such a clown. I was expecting the absolute bare minimum and yet was still disappointed.

People were even expecting at least Dans head on Graham’s body for the 13th set. Looks like that’s gone out the window. Can’t wait for our slightly different shade of t shirt variants of Jodie Whittaker.

Oh dear, thought there’d be a new monster somewhere at least. I never learn, expect nothing, get nothing, you’ll never be disappointed.

Wowza, this set’s page has more comments than any of the others at the moment, with over double the amount of the second highest, and not a single comment is positive. And understandably so, imo, I think CO made a massive error with this one.

I mean, nice to have different variants, I guess, but the fact we have three new 10th Doctors and not a single one has the spiked hair sculpt is the real bummer for me. The better articulation would’ve been nice but it’s understandable why they wouldn’t have done so, but the hair is kind of like…. I Made a comment like two months ago saying ‘how have they not done more 10th Doctors with spikey hair when they already have the sculpt’ and now this….

As I said, variants are nice, this is definitely not a set worth getting, especially with the price increase. Not sure what CO were thinking tbh.

      seems pretty general

this all suggest to me that B&M ( and lets not forget it is they that commission these) dont what to pay for new figures any more and are setting tighter budgets for CO to work within and this is the result.

“The Tenth Doctor sets have a very different and fresh feel and come with two never released variants.” – Al

So which is the one released before?

    • Doctor Stu

      August 9th, 2022 - 2:04pm

Possibly the battered version from eleventh hour that they’re pretending is a comic variant just because they stuck Tennants head on it.

    August 9th, 2022 - 1:52pm

Wow, this is the most underwhelming set I’ve ever seen.

  • BigBen64

    August 9th, 2022 - 1:48pm

Erm, is the Tenth Doctor Adventures comic book series the Titan one? Because I’ve read a couple of those comics and I’m pretty certain the Tenth Doctor is in his full pinstripe getup…

    • SJF

      August 9th, 2022 - 1:50pm

It’s from a cover for one of the issues of Medicine Man from Year 2. I don’t think he actually looks like that in the story though.

  • Mrs Croot

    August 9th, 2022 - 1:47pm

Ok ok, the 8th doctor figures are all rare ones, fine, give them new releases, but this, and the fact it’s 2 figures from the same story, i can’t wrap my head around it. If it was a wedding of sarah jane set then give us the trickster or clyde or something. Obviously that requires new moulds so it would be a lot but this… i think i’ll wait till it and 8 are £5 each.

    not even packaged with sonics??

  • The Destroyer of Worlds

    August 9th, 2022 - 1:29pm

This is literally the laziest set they’ve ever made. Heck this entire wave is really lazy.
    So disappointing.

I dread to think what the December packs will be like.

  • Chance W

    August 9th, 2022 - 1:26pm

Well I guess the same thing is gonna happen with the Ninth Doctor set, I don’t know for Thirteenth Doctor set in the next wave.

    • Callum Eales

      August 9th, 2022 - 2:05pm

      Ninth doctor without jacket.
      9th with green tshirt
      9th with puple

      13 without jacket purple shirt
      13 without jacket blue shirt
      13 dark coat

  • Gordon Wilson

    August 9th, 2022 - 1:26pm

Well that was a complete waste of time waiting on the big reveal. No new sets will be bought by me and will save my money.

  • cosmosboy98

    August 9th, 2022 - 1:24pm

I just don’t understand why they’re not releasing the overcoat 10 as the new articulated version??? Or at least the spiky haired head.
    Can’t understand it…

  • Coleman

    August 9th, 2022 - 1:24pm

Quick question Booboo, Are these the only images that will be shown today. Will Wave Two images be out later, or will they all be shown today?

    • booboo

      August 9th, 2022 - 1:31pm

      only these

  • Alex Oswin

    August 9th, 2022 - 1:19pm

I’ve thought the New Who Vs Classic bias people usually talk about was often a bit exaggerated but I think this just seems like such a waste of time and effort from CO.

    • Doctor Stu

      August 9th, 2022 - 2:06pm

I’ve always felt there’s a massive classic bias with these sets and any good ‘new’ new who content never gets a look in

    • Alex Oswin

      August 9th, 2022 - 2:23pm

I try to be positive but seeing this it’s hard not to believe there’s a massive bias.

    • booboo

      August 9th, 2022 - 2:34pm

And it should be noted that ultimately its B&M who pay for and choose what’s in these sets.

It looks like they (B&M) have severely restricted the budget this year.

  • Dave

    August 9th, 2022 - 1:17pm

This and the eighth Doctor will be the end of the range. This is only going to appeal to the hardcore “must have everything” colletor.

    • Anonymous

      August 9th, 2022 - 1:32pm

wow this is dreadful. get that there isnt as much of a demand for new figures anymore but this is beyond lazy. no new sculpts either

  • John

    August 9th, 2022 - 1:16pm

What a pointless set. Sorry CO/B&M but you’ve got this totally wrong. Expect to see lots of these for £1 quite soon!

    • Doctor Stu

      August 9th, 2022 - 2:08pm

I’m literally just going to get the blue and trench coated Ten off eBay when it inevitably ends up there for next to nothing. Same thing with the night of the Doctor 8. Or whatever episode it’s supposed to be from.

  • Anonymous

    August 9th, 2022 - 1:16pm

Articulation and head sculpt aside – this colour scheme isn’t even screen accurate for the SJA story. There was only ever one blue suit fabric that David wore (with the red pinstripes) it wasn’t plain blue in the SJA like these figures suggest, despite how it can look at points in the episode.

  • Pjd94

    August 9th, 2022 - 1:13pm

When you consider the price increase, it is an even bigger kick in the teeth!!!

  • Big G

    August 9th, 2022 - 1:08pm

Sorry but this could cause major issues.
Can see nothing but shelve/peg warmers in these sets.
I’ll pick one up possibly just to support the range.

    > Old head sculpt

    > Old articulation

    :/

  • Coleman

    August 9th, 2022 - 1:06pm

Is this the New TrenchCoat figure with more Articulation that was on Ebay awhile back?

    • Pjd94

      August 9th, 2022 - 1:07pm

      Nope

    • Komati

      August 9th, 2022 - 1:08pm

No it seems not, the only difference between this one and the old one is the suit is the blue one, same for the no trench coat version. The raggedy looking one is from a comic book it seems.

  • Pjd94

    August 9th, 2022 - 1:05pm

    Genuinely not worth the wait!

  • Thanos was right

    August 9th, 2022 - 1:05pm

that raggedy tenth doctor seems a bit redundant

  • Phantom Sidious

    August 9th, 2022 - 1:03pm

Yawn, boring beyond…. Really bad sets…

    August 9th, 2022 - 1:02pm

These ‘3 Doctor’ sets are a bit of a disappointment – I think I’ll be saving some money this autumn.
