Big Finish Torchwood 88 Widdershins

Available to order from www.bigfinish.com

Hallowe’en Comes Early to Torchwood

The Devil comes to Llandyth, and so do Torchwood, in this month’s spooky adventure, Widdershins – a brand-new audio drama now available from Big Finish Productions.

Widdershins – the act of walking anticlockwise, traditionally believed to be unlucky, and when done on church ground, very dangerous. This folk superstition is the starting point of October’s Torchwood – Monthly Range adventure.

Widdershins stars Cerith Flinn (known for Wolfblood and Eastenders) as Iain, a young man who once tried to raise the Devil, and faces the consequences to this day. His parents are played by Catrin Powell (Pobol y Cwm) and Charles Dale (Casualty, Sherwood), who also adopt the voices of a range of other characters.

This is Torchwood’s Hallowe’en special – a chilling horror story with an unconventional and experimental script from writer Guy Adams. Lock the doors, turn off the lights, and prepare for a Torchwood tale like no other…

Torchwood: Widdershins is now available to own as a collector’s edition CD (+ download for just £10.99) or as a digital download only (for just £8.99), exclusively from www.bigfinish.com.

One night long ago Iain tried to raise the devil. He walked the wrong way round an ancient stone in the village graveyard. He didn’t think anything would happen, not really.

But something did. Something far worse than the Devil came to Llandyth.

And now, many years later, Iain’s trying to work out what really happened that night. Did Torchwood ruin his life?

Writer Guy Adams said: “The notion of walking widdershins has been stuck in my head for some time. It was believed that walking opposite to the direction of the sun was unlucky, moving against the natural order of things, and that walking in a particular direction around a churchyard could have some kind of occult effect – a spell of the feet.

“Producer James Goss had been watching a program on people recounting their experiences of alien abduction or unusual events, and he decided there was probably something in that sort of first-person account with all of the inconsistencies and biases that would come into it. He reckoned there could be a fun drama built around that, and Widdershins was built up from there.”

Torchwood contains adult material and may not be suitable for younger listeners.

Widdershins is the 88th release in the Torchwood monthly range. Big Finish listeners can purchase it as part of a six-release multibuy bundle including Torchwood 85 to 90, for just £60 (collector’s edition CD + download) or £50 (download only), or a twelve-release multibuy bundle of Torchwood 85 to 96, for just £110 (collector’s edition CD + download) or £96 (download only).
