Big Finish The Ninth Doctor Adventures 1.1 Ravagers

Available to order from www.bigfinish.com

Christopher Eccleston is the Doctor!

It’s the start of something fantastic – volume one of Doctor Who – The Ninth Doctor Adventures, starring Christopher Eccleston, is released today from Big Finish.

This box set of brand-new full cast audio adventures heralds the start of the Ninth Doctor’s era on audio, and features a voyage of discovery alongside new faces Nova (Camilla Beeput) and Audrey (Jayne McKenna), running into adventure at every twist and turn. This epic tale spans three episodes, all written by Big Finish’s Creative Director, Nicholas Briggs.

Christopher Eccleston said: “I’ve really enjoyed playing the Doctor again. As I’ve always said, he was always a joy to play. Somebody with that amount of optimism, enthusiasm and brains and heart – two hearts! It’s not something you get to do often.”

Doctor Who – The Ninth Doctor Adventures: Ravagers is now available exclusively at the Big Finish Website from just £19.99.

On the Sphere of Freedom, the Doctor is about to shut down an evil Immersive Games business empire. He’s assisted by a valiant galley chef called Nova. But his plan spectacularly fails…

Now, the Doctor must fight back to discover what could have caused everything to go so badly wrong. His journey takes him via Piccadilly Circus in 1959, Belgium 1815 and far flung future worlds where machine intelligences regard sentient life as mere biofuel.

Where does the mysterious old-timer Audrey fit in? Is the alien beverage Charganzi safe to drink? And is there really anything the Doctor can do to stop the entire universe from being devoured?

The cast is completed by Jamie Parker (1917, Valkyrie), Dan Starkey (The Paternoster Gang, Jago & Litefoot & Strax), Anjella Mackintosh (The Eleven, Timeslip), Ben Lee (Holmes & Watson), and Clare Corbett (Jenny – The Doctor’s Daughter).

Producer David Richardson said: “To think, sixteen years ago the Ninth Doctor reached out, grabbed Rose Tyler by the hand and told her to run off into new adventures. And now he’s back, grabbing us all by the hand and leading us off to whole new worlds, new friends and new foes. It’s Saturday teatime 2005 all over again… and it’s wonderful to have him back.”

Doctor Who fans worldwide can now pre-order all four volumes of The Ninth Doctor Adventures, which are available in three formats – collector’s edition CD, digital download or limited edition gatefold triple LP vinyl – exclusively from the Big Finish website at www.bigfinish.com.

Big Finish listeners can save by pre-ordering a bundle of the entire series for just £88 (as a collector’s edition box set) or £78 (as a download).

Doctor Who – The Ninth Doctor Adventures triple LP vinyls are strictly limited to a pressing of 1,000 per volume, and can be pre-ordered at £35.99 each, or £132 for the bundle of all four albums, again exclusively at the Big Finish website.

Please note: the vinyl editions do not include any behind-the-scenes extras. However, listeners purchasing vinyl LP editions will receive a download of the story automatically and be given access to the CD edits as a bonus download. Episodes will be edited specifically for the vinyl format, presented as 2 episodes, one on each side, each with opening and closing music. In addition, all pre-orders of the vinyls will also receive the behind the extras as a bonus download.

Products are sold in £sterling on Big Finish’s website but will be converted to local currency upon checkout.

Please note that Big Finish is currently operating a digital-first release schedule. The mail-out of collector’s edition CDs and limited edition vinyl LPs may be delayed due to factors beyond our control, but all purchases of this release unlock a digital copy that can be immediately downloaded or played on the Big Finish app from the release date.

His voice seems to have changed from years ago when he was the Doctor on TV.
    Seems more mellow?

Really good to have him back. Disappointed with the actual stories though. I thought that they were pretty incomprehensible/dull.

I got an email about Dalek Universe last week. Presume will be same issue with 9th Doctor.

Due to factors beyond our control, we are currently experiencing supply issues from the EU, and this title has not yet been received at our warehouse.

We are truly sorry for any disappointment and the ongoing delays.

At the moment, we have not been given an estimated delivery date from the vinyl supplier but we will prioritise the shipping of your order as soon as we have the item.

He is. I’m hoping that after volume 4, he stays for a volume 5, 6, 7, 8 and so on.

Nice as it would be for the Ninth Doctor to meet a Master, wouldn’t that stop him being surprised in Utopia? Unless they use the old Big Finish trope of wiping his memory at the end of the story of course.

Or they can specify its a pre-time war master who the doctor has just happened to bump into. Maybe play on the fact that 9 sees his friend/rival ‘die’ in the future, have him grateful to see the master in but nostalgic and sad because he must once again stop his plan.

Yeah it could be an older Master than the Doctor manages to meet by some time disturbance or maybe he could meet the War Master and learn about him surviving, only for the encounter to somehow get erased after. It would be interesting to see Nine’s reaction, be it just for one episode, at finding another time lord still alive

There are 4 volumes initially, I so hope that at least one of them would get Billie back. It seems unlikely but I can hope

She has already recorded her own spin off series as well as recording with DT in the 10th Doctor Adventures so no reason why she can come back. Only problem with Billie now is her voice is completely different. It seems she us unable to replicate that South London accent now. When she did the 10th Doctor adventures she sounded too posh.

I reckon it’s set between The Doctor leaving Rose and Mickey in the alley, before coming back for Rose.

Yeh it’s got to be before series 1. That alley scene is basically two halves of a sentence. Him coming back to say ‘oh and by the way it travels in time as well’ it wouldn’t make sense if there was a big gap of adventures in between

      January 10th, 2021 - 1:47pm

Or…..some adventures with one off companions makes him realise he could do with a regular one a d goes back to when he left Rose “oh by the way…..”

It kind of takes the excitement out of it by declaring that there are going to be four series, before the first one has been released.
