Big Finish The Fifth Doctor Adventures – Forty Volume 1

Comprising two anniversary box sets released in April and September 2022 respectively, Doctor Who: The Fifth Doctor Adventures – Forty celebrates four decades since the Fifth Doctor made his first regular appearance in Doctor Who.

The dynamic dramas are plucked from various points in the Fifth Doctor’s timeline, as he adventures alongside beloved companions Tegan (Janet Fielding), Turlough (Mark Strickson), Nyssa (Sarah Sutton), Adric (Matthew Waterhouse) and Kamelion (Jon Culshaw) across the episodes.

Doctor Who: The Fifth Doctor Adventures – Forty Volume 1 and Doctor Who: The Fifth Doctor Adventures – Forty Volume 2 are now available to pre-order individually as a collector’s edition CD at £19.99 or on download at £16.99, exclusively at www.bigfinish.com.

Expect to hear fearsome adversaries, the Cybermen, Ice Warriors and Autons in the trio of TARDIS tales across the two volumes.

Volume 1

  • Secrets of Telos by Matt Fitton
  • God of War by Sarah Grochala

Volume 2

  • The Auton Infinity by Tim Foley

Opening story, Secrets of Telos, is a direct sequel to the Doctor Who television episode Tomb of the Cybermen (1967).

Producer David Richardson said: “It’s always fascinated me that Tomb of the Cybermen isn’t a story that definitively ends. There’s a loose strand of story left floating at the end of episode four – and that strand of story launches us straight into Forty, a lavish celebration of forty years of the Fifth Doctor. What strange force is pulling the Doctor forwards through his incarnation? The mystery will be solved but along the way enjoy spending time with Tegan, Nyssa, Adric, Turlough and Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart. As birthday parties go, this is going to be a spectacular one!”

Doctor Who: The Fifth Doctor Adventures – Forty Volume 1 and Doctor Who: The Fifth Doctor Adventures – Forty Volume 2 are now available to pre-order individually as a collector’s edition CD at £19.99 or on download from the Big Finish Website at £16.99.

Big Finish listeners can save money by ordering both volumes of Forty together in a bundle for £38 on CD or £33 on download.

Please note that Big Finish is currently operating a digital-first release schedule. The mail-out of collector’s edition CDs may be delayed due to factors beyond our control, but all purchases of this release unlock a digital copy that can be immediately downloaded or played on the Big Finish app from the release date.

I see they’ve mentioned that Digital recordings are their priority and the cds will be sent at a later date due to circumstances beyond their control.
I know on other threads quite a few people have mentioned both Vinyl and CDs of theirs havnt arrived yet.

yes, although i sympathise with both sides because whats been happening the last year but especially with Vinyl collectors who do want the physical item because that’s where the attraction is.

Yes I’ve not moaned , due to current situation. luckily its seems, i got my Echoes LP from Amazon (creased due to poor packaging) but hey. I got one. I am though waiting for the DU vinyl set,and with May less than 2 days away, the Same situation will occur for Ravagers triple Vinyl.

Truly understandable in most respects (why no TLV Vinyl though) .

Brilliant news about Forty (even if box one should have been just forty 🙂 then box 2, forty 1. thats 3 box sets for peter now.

Surprised and sorry to hear about your packaging Bryan on the Echoes album.
My packaging from Amazon was above and beyond what you’d expect from a company and alot of people also mentioned the great Packaging.
Mine was absolutely stuffed with paper for padding and the box was enormous.
No exaggeration On delivery I thought it was a 42 inch TV I’d ordered and forgot about.
Needless to say the LP was mint condition.
