It’s pretty amazing these actors can come back after so many years and make more adventures set in the same era, it’s rather lovely to know they do them.

I’m so happy to have not one, but two more series of Fourth Doctor Adventures announced. The more Tom the better as far as I’m concerned! Nice to have some new adventures in E-Space too.
It’s so sad we can’t have new adventures with Sarah and the original Romana, so I can understand the necessity for ‘gap year’ (so to speak) companions. I just hope we have a lot, lot more from the Fourth Doctor to come…

I have a feeling Sarah Jane and the first Romana will be recast eventually, like Liz Shaw and the Brigadier. I’m not too keen on the idea, unless Sadie Miller does her Mum like Daisy Ashford, although I would be alright with another actor reading as Sarah or Romana like a Companion Chronicle/audio book or something.

I think they should leave liz and mary’s roles if i am honest. They had such amazing personalities and voices that would be difficult for another actor to recreate. Even though mary only had six stories, her character did make a big impression and liz needs no explanation. Liz shaw never really had time to grow so recasting doesn’t have too much of an impact. Of course, in the end it is down to the relative families and this is just my opinion. Besides, there are countless adventures just brimming in everyones minds that can compensate for the big finish gap.

I’m very undecided about recasting to be honest no matter how convincing the impersonation.
It’s the joy of having the original actors recreate their roles and, in the case of the Fifth and Sixth Doctors in particular, get a chance to really develop their characters in ways that never happened on TV that appeals to me.
I haven’t thus far listened to any of the work that features recast roles (apart from trailers) they’re not for me although I can see why they work for many.
I do agree that they shouldn’t recast Liz and Mary’s iconic roles – we have the stories they recorded and it should be left at that in my opinion.

Fully agree. I only listen to the early adventures as they give a bit more insight into those early 60s adventures but it still is not the same as the amazing voices of the original actors

A return to a regular team and four parters. Looks exciting. I didn,t buy into this years boxset as i,m not keen when they stray away with ‘new’ companions, even if they try to fill the gap left by Elisabeth Sladen and Mary Tamm et al.
