Yes, I’ve most of the Figurines and never had a low number yet. If they are sent out totally random like most people suggest, surely by the law of averages i should have had a few low numbers by now. Lol.

What would that entail Booboo?, reviewing forthcoming figurine merchandise? I,m sure there are many collectors who wouldn,t want to pass up on such an opportunity. If so I nominate Doug Who and Coleman.

i think its more people who have collected in the past, they mention Harrops, but also Airfix, product enterprise, weta , Titan busts etc much of which has long gone

Doug Who maybe, I know he’s only posted photos of his Eaglemoss Customs on this site but he collects all of their figurines aswell as Neil Simms Busts and Phil Robinson ‘HUD’ busts amongst other older collectibles he has mentioned. He’s also Customised some Dr Who Busts himself in a similar style.

      Season 12:
Disc 3: The audio was wrong
Disc 5: spelling mistake on Michael wisher and alternative effects missing
2nd pressing: all 6 discs were labelled with the season 10 art work.

Season 19: audio issue with castrovalva (US only)

Season 18; disc 1: 5.1 mix was wrong
Disc 2: spelling mistake on 1 of the writers(can’t remember which. (On available through the standard edition version of season 18 and no replacement program was made for that disc

Looks like someone in Australia as received their CO Robot and Fourth Doctor. He’s put on a couple of photos of the two figures ‘still boxed’ on his shelf.
Not quite sure how he’s managed it when it’s a B&M Exclusive and it isn’t even on shelf’s here in the UK though. Oh well.

Are the classic episodes on Britbox the same quality as the blu ray box sets (e.g. rescanning of the filmed scenes where available) or are they just the original video broadcasts?

    Reply
    • Doctor Stu

      January 20th, 2022 - 10:57pm

I think they might be blue ray quality. They all looked good quality when I watched them. But then again I don’t really know about classic dvds and box sets Ive never been interested in them. The first time I saw the classics properly from start to finish was on britbox. They even have some of the animated episodes on there, and more have been added since as they’ve been released on dvd

    • Rory

      January 24th, 2022 - 9:40am

Maybe someone could compare an episode that exists on BR, such as season 10, with the Britbox version. There was quite a lot of work done on the picture for that season to upgrade from the DVD releases, so should be a noticeable difference if they’re still using the DVD restoration.

    • Gordon

      January 24th, 2022 - 11:56pm

It’s a complicated answer. Season 19 is using the blu ray masters but due to streaming quality isn’t as good as having the blu ray. The animations for power/macra/faceless/fury/shada should be in hd. Everything else is either dvd quality or in some cases vhs masters (Krotons/deadly assassin 3)

Slightly disappointed by the mix of doctors. Two Tom and two capaldi, I’d hoped for one from 9-13. That said… zygon (presumably both episodes) is one I wanted as is fires. Eaters is another I’m pleased by and it’s Rona’s first who book in 32 years. The two David Fisher books are one’s I’ve wanted in print form since they were announced as audios so I’m happy about that. Mind you I’d still like uncle Terrance’s versions released again!

    • Coleman

      January 19th, 2022 - 11:25am

Where did “Uncle” Terrance come from Book collector. I’ve seen it used numerous times over the Years?

    • Book collector

      January 19th, 2022 - 11:46am

sidney Newman is the father of doctor who and many fans consider Terrance dicks (as script editor, TV story writer and target books writer) alongside Barry letts (as producer, writer, director) to be “uncles” to doctor who. They oversaw a resurgence of who after the troughton years (despite being regarded now as classics troughton’s era ended with viewing figures which if done comparatively to modern viewing figures and factoring in the number of available channels for eras, are actually lower than now. In 1969 there were three channels in 2021 there are thousands) so dicks and letts are considered to be the uncles who revived who. Terrance has another claim to the title which is that for many children growing up in the 70’s his books became a major part of their lives. Certainly my love of reading is down in a major part to uncle Terrance as he became such a welcome part of my life through his books. My father was a big reader and it was my father and the Terrance dicks books he bought for me as a child that cemented not only my love of books but of who. Personally I wish we had two target books out every month. One new who book and one reprint of a classic, I know many fans who want the same thing. Pleased as I am to finally be able to read the new versions by David Fisher it is the Terrance versions that hold a special place for me. Next year I think I’ll read the whole key to time again. So…
      Ribos operation by Ian marter
Pirate planet by James Goss (full hardback version)
Pirate planet by James Goss (target paperback version)
Pirate planet by David bishop (fan club version.)
Stones of blood by Terrance dicks
Stones of blood by David Fisher
Androids of tara by Terrance dicks
Androids of tara by David Fisher
Power of Kroll by Terrance dicks
      Armageddon factor by Terrance dicks

      Should be fun

      January 19th, 2022 - 1:16pm

Rory I’d love to have nigel Robinson’s unearthly book but unfortunately it’s bogged down in very complicated rights issues. One possibility is the extended version of warrior’s gate by Steve Gallagher (originally published under the pseudonym John lydecker.)

    • Popplewick

      January 23rd, 2022 - 7:28pm

Did David Fisher actually have a crack at Stones and Androids then ?? I thought Terrence wrote both versions.

    • Book collector

      January 24th, 2022 - 9:22am

Around 10 years ago he novelised both stories but they were only released as audio books. I’d given up hope of getting them as physical books so I’m happy with these. Mind you the Terrance versions are the ones I love. They also released an extended/rewritten version of warrior’s gate on audio. Nigel Robinson wrote a new version of an unearthly child intended for audio release in 2013. Unfortunately audiogo collapsed and its unlikely the book will ever see release as it’s caught up in very complicated rights issues.

    • Rory

      January 24th, 2022 - 9:46am

@popplewick, he wrote new adaptations for the audiobook releases, so these are based on those but hopefully abridged as the audiobooks were the same length as other audiobooks which were straight readings of the original Target novel.

    • Popplewick

      January 24th, 2022 - 3:25pm

Might actually go for those out of curiousity then. Havent read Terrence’s versions since they were originally released. ‘Stones’ is the jewel in the crown of a superb season.

    • Book collector

      January 13th, 2022 - 2:02pm

I don’t buy the bluray collections but for those who do presumably they will feature reconstructions where they can. I’m not sure how easy it is to do reconstructions on some of the stories due to a lack of photographs from them (no telesnaps and limited studio photos) so some may even end up being just the audio perhaps? To be honest if they did reconstructions of the stories on DVD with extras I’d buy them but I’m fairly sure the response of a section of fandom would be… shall we leave it at “not measured”…

    • Book collector

      January 13th, 2022 - 2:35pm

The first animation was invasion in 2006. Everyone was very excited about it and expected more… the next animation was 2013’s reign of terror. We then had a run of animations which ended with 2014’s moonbase. Underwater menace had its animation cancelled. We’ve been lucky to have animations from 2016-2022 and if they are now finished then that’s that. I’m hoping they may do menace. Crusade is a hope but a slim one due to costs. If we are lucky the animations may return at a future date but I’m just happy with how many completed stories we have (14 including shada)

    • Jay

      January 14th, 2022 - 4:06pm

Collected all the animations and the news that these will probably end with Abominable Snowmen is really sad. Was really hoping we would see a complete set of classic stories and I always wanted to see Wheel in Space and Masterplan done.

Hello Jay, no I havnt had one yet. Big Chief said they would put an extra Base in with my Autograph Tom Baker Figure when he’s sent. (I’m not expecting him anytime soon though). Maybe next year.
There was only a Signature Plaque with the Thirteenth Doctor.
The 3rd Doctor came with a signed photo of Katy Manning.

    • Jay

      January 11th, 2022 - 4:42pm

Thanks Coleman. I didn’t get the Third doctor so thought it was with both figures, I knew the Thirteenth didn’t get one. I might contact BC again just to remind them about that. I have stopped pre-ordering anything now with them as the wait is ridiculous. I hope that your fourth doctor arrives with the base for Thirteen at some point. I’m still awaiting Colin Baker but no confirmed date as yet.

    • Coleman

Yeah Jay, as you know Jodie took about 2 and half years to arrive, Jon was around 2 years.
So I don’t expect Tom or Colin to be arriving anytime soon.

There is an unofficial version of shada on lulu that is done in the same size and style as the virgin books 1993 anniversary dalek novels. This might be the only way of getting a target sized (dimensions rather than page count) version of this story on the shelves

Why aren’t you going to it for the first time in years, booboo?

      January 10th, 2022 - 10:19pm

awkward last time and really no one there any more compared to the past to warrant the trip, it used to be great and informative day out, shows how much has changed.

Will leave it to others now if anything to report.

Booboo. Just noticed the 2022 New York Toy Fair as been Cancelled. Do you think the UK one will have a similar fate or will it go ahead still.

Hello, I have some vintage Doctor Who merchandise for sale, this includes:-

Copies of the original 1960s annuals in good condition.
    Toys from the 1970s.
    Books & Magazines.

Can I please ask if anyone would be interested in purchasing this, or indeed knows of suitable places to sell it? Thanks.

you will always get the biggest exposure on ebay but that involves posting out etc, some forums such as GB have sales section (you need to join) and facebook can often be another channel these days, it depends on rarity/condition really.

Dealers will take the lot but at a fraction of what it maybe worth individually.

You can go onto to ebay and look at sold listings to give you an idea

I suspect Eve of the Daleks will be released at the end of the three specials and will all be together, though that doesn’t always happen but that is what I would do. We usually have a release date by now and it’s usually in late January so that’s my reasoning.

    • Book collector

      January 10th, 2022 - 3:43pm

I’d much rather have them as individual releases than have to wait until November (third special is apparently part of the BBC 100th celebrations in October) to get eve and legend.

Not sure if anyone else has been watching Around The World In 80 Days with David Tennant, but I’m really enjoying it! He’d probably get home quicker if he had his TARDIS with him though…

Depends on how well its working at the time, after all when the 09th Doctor tried to drop Ms. Tyler off home 12 Hours After the events of ‘Rose’, it ended up overshooting by 12 Months… TARDIS Travel isn’t always predictable…

Does anyone have a particularly expensive Who item in their collection? I have just seen the Harlequin 50th. Anniversary Gold Ingot on ebay for about £11,000. It’s also probable that it was the only one made (Numbered 1 of 500) before Harlequin folded?

Whilst not in that league, I do have a 13th. Doctor Gold/Silver Earring that was produced by the company that made the one for Jodie Whittaker for her TV role.

Still wish I had bought the 11th. Doctor Steiff Bear – Anyone else have something along those lines?

For me, value of my Who stuff isn’t how expensive/valuable merchandise is, but how much my Dr Who stuff means to me.

For example, I’ve got a hand-written letter/autograph from Patrick Troughton in reply to a letter I wrote to him in 1971.

That’s worth more to me than any £11,000 Gold ingot!

Hi Booboo, i was wondering if you could help with some info..

I believe you own the Eaglemoss Mega K9 figurine? I’ve seen you’ve put your own images up on this site of it.
Do you know if he is In scale with the Mega Doctor figures? Basically, is he a lot shorter than them?
I’m debating if I should get him or not to go alongside the Mega 4th Dr to make a nice display. But if he is Larger, or as large as the Dotor figures then I might pass due to space issues.

i dont have any of the figures to compare but looking at it i think it would be way to big

      January 5th, 2022 - 6:08pm

K9s not to scale with the Eaglemoss Tom or the David Doctors, Judooning. He’s huge. I think he’s a similar size to their Daleks.

      January 5th, 2022 - 7:05pm

      Ah right. Thank you both.
It does look a brilliant representation of K9. Still tempted but it’s just where to put him.
