Leela & Stor: Invasion Of Time – Pictures

Action Figure Set: Leela & Stor: Invasion Of Time

After a secret meeting in space with a group of mysterious aliens, the Fourth Doctor takes Leela to Gallifrey so he can claim the Presidency of the Time Lords. After his induction as Lord President, the Doctor inexplicably commands the force field around Gallifrey to be shut down. His alien coconspirators materialise revealing the Vardans, telepathic invaders that can travel on any wavelength.

The Doctor has been planning a double bluff, working alongside them until he can place a time loop around their home planet. But when he springs his trap the Vardans are banished, only to be immediately replaced by Sontarans! This fearsome clone race were also using the Vardans, but to conquer the Gallifrey. The invasion of the Time Lords has begun, led by Commander Stor. A fierce battle ensues across the Capitol and through the Doctor’s TARDIS. With casualties on both sides, Stor is the only surviving Sontaran left. The Doctor uses knowledge extracted from the Matrix by K-9 to construct a De-Mat gun, a very powerful weapon only to be used as a last resort. The gun is destroyed in an implosion with a Sontaran weapon… killing Stor. As they prepare to leave, Leela announces that she wishes to stay behind, and K-9 elects to remain with her.

The canonicity of that series is debated though.

They’d have to make the Sontarans a lot taller and give the new camp sparkly costumes they wore in The Two Doctors, along with ill fitting necks and balloon heads.

Ugh, same terrible Leela face sculpt. The last Leela figure I got had terrible paint work, poor articulation, and could barely hold a weapon. This new model looks just as bad, but they slapped new paint on it. I would wait until you read some online reviews of the actual figure before you bought it, because Character Option’s stuff has been terribly dodgy as of late.

Same with me when i bought the leela figure i was very dissapointed, you can hardly play with them…her leg came off when i tried…overall poor figure

To be honest these figures are exclusives and are not technically for playing , maybe you should get a replacement if the leg broke?

Kieran, the fact that they are exclusives is all the more reason for why they should be made of a higher quality. Mine had a finger print paint smudge on the back, and since I ordered it from a shop in England I didn’t really have the option to return it. Plus the box brags about it being fully articulated, which means the legs should stay put!

It’s quite strange because I bought ‘The Time Warrior’ set yesterday but I hesitated to decide between that and the Leela figure until I had a feeling that there was going to be a set with Leela being released soon.

Don’t be daft. they’ve made a new Leela sculpt they are inclined to use the same face sculpt and give her a different costume.

may be in but in its day it was quite a shock, it looked like the story had finished – it was all over – then the Sontarans appeared

      September 29th, 2011 - 8:34pm

And then the story gets good, but the first four episodes are the most boring things imaginable (although that’s part of the point your supposed to believe the Doctor would find it boring so it would be boring for the audience too).

    • Stu

      October 6th, 2011 - 10:14pm

I don’t think the audience found it boring at all. Check out the ratings, and to see the Sontarans en masse for the first time (and the only time uuntil 2008) was exciting for many a fan in 1978

This is one set that I am going to have to get! This is a good excuse for another Leela and for another, different Sontaran. I may try to get two of these Sontarans. Then I’d have five. Great for a DWFA.

Again, this Sontaran looks accurate to the one in the story and looks very detailed. Leela is good too and it’ll be nice to have a variant. Let’s hope we’ll get more classic companions soon.

    Kind regards,
    The Fourth Doctor

As they seem to be bringing out all the Sontarans, I’m guessing one set we may see is Jamie and the Sontaran from The Two Doctors, or another Peri no doubt.
