Anyone else order the orange vinyl re-release directly from Silva Screen and not get anything yet? I haven’t even had a dispatch email from them. A week and a half now since it was released and it hasn’t even been sent out. Just wondering if everyone else is in a similar boat before I drop them a line.

I decided to drop Silva Screen’s shop a line anyway and got a quick reply this morning. Silva Screen don’t actually mail out themselves. It’s a company called Ochre who do it (previously it was one called GreedBag). Apparently they haven’t received any stock yet and are in contact with the supplier to see what’s happening. The silliness of Silva Screen’s own shop/distributor not knowing about the status of one of their own releases is not lost on me.

While it reassured me that everyone who ordered through Silva Screen is in the same boat, and it’s not just some orders being unfulfilled, the email has worried me quite a bit. To be honest, given that other shops have been able to supply the release immediately upon release, I’m beginning to think that Silva Screen have no stock for their own orders.

Same boat. Thank you for the update. I was beginning to think mine was lost in transit – we’ve had some security issue around here! It is rather muddling that there own store front has not yet received stock update. Hopefully just a case of someone’s off sick with the info 🙂

silva screen seem to have supplied ebay sellers and independent record stores rather than themselves and Amazon, there is lots going wrong with the supply of DW products at the moment.

May have to resort to the scalpers on this one. Ones with pictures of the atual vinyl. Any reason why DW products are a going wrong.

Ordered this even though I’ve already got the black vinyl edition. Also just bought the 50th Anniversary boxset in white vinyl even though I already have it on silver vinyl. I often wonder what is wrong with me.

Will Silva Screen be getting them back in stock? I’d much rather pay £29.99 then the £41.35 on Amazon. Hopefully it does go down in price before its released as I’ve pre-ordered it on Amazon

I have the original black so won’t be getting this one. A great soundtrack to own though, but my favourite remains season 5.

It always annoyed me that Ninth Doc isnt on the cover as well. That’s all I have to say.

Aside from the memorable companion themes, I can,t say i,m much of a fan of Murray gold or Segun Akinola for that matter, despite the sweeping bombastic cinematic sound. You could play any incidental music from the classic era and within the first few seconds i could tell you which story or part of the story its from. The modern orchestral stuff all gets a bit samey after a while.

I agree with you about Segun Akinola but Murray Gold’s music is iconic and extremely memorable and equally on par with music from the classic Seasons

Personally I much prefer Segun’s music to Murray Gold’s. Why must everything try to mimic that Hollywood ‘cinematic’ style!

That orchestral swell that tells you what you should be feeling is, as Ergon says so samey – bombastic is a good word for it! So often drowns out dialogue too.

The benchmark of quality that it’s just ‘like a movie’ is a bit tiresome. There are many other ways to tell stories.

I wish they would release the Series 3 and 4 soundtracks on vinyl as they’re some of the best.

Murray gold did at one point on his Twitter say series 10 was in process which is great but in process is basically how long is a piece of string 🙂
I live in hope one day it will be here

I’ve read that Doctor Who soundtracks were only released because the BBC received a massive influx of inquiries from viewers asking about a really nice piece of music near the end of doomsday. Which turned to out to be ‘Doomsday’. So as a result of that we got our first soundtrack from new who. And it’s the reason series 1 and 2 were released in one rather than having individual soundtracks like every other series
