October 25th, 2021 - 9:04amPlease does anyone know if the subscriber cover is different for this one?
Historically bagged issues have a common cover for newsstand / subscribers but this appears to definitely have a subscribers (virgin) cover)
Wondered if that was the common cover of=r there are actually 2 versions?
Thanks in adcance
Doug Who
October 15th, 2021 - 3:42pmQuite a different cover for subscribers!
Liking the new version of the Sontarans very much…more like the ones of old. Nice collection of cards and a free Tom Baker story to boot! Really nice mix of old and new in the magazine generally.
The ergon
October 15th, 2021 - 7:46pmI never did much like a blue sontaran doug. More vicious, more warlike is required. Not reduced to ‘militaristic buffoon’ or comedy sidekick.
Doug Who
October 15th, 2021 - 10:12pmYes I think they’ve achieved that ‘nasty, brutish and short’ look most of the originals had with the new ones. I didn’t particularly care for the, as you say Ergon, comedy sidekick they became nor the Doctor’s comments about ‘potato-heads’, because I don’t think the Doctor would (or should) make cheap jokes about physical appearances – even an alien’s!

October 14th, 2021 - 2:05pmJust to check, the 28 page supplement on s12 is meant to be on it’s own, yes?
Just got my copy from WHSmiths and that seems to be missing!?
Do I need to return it or am I blind?

October 14th, 2021 - 7:45pmYes it is separate.
Loving the Diarama. My main reason for buying it.

October 14th, 2021 - 12:20pmDoes this issue have a tribute to Tony Selby? I won’t be getting my issue till next week.

October 14th, 2021 - 6:48pmProf Horner – yep, and the Tony Selby tribute is quite in-depth at 4 pages long.

October 13th, 2021 - 11:28pmPeople seem to be excited by these dioramas. I chuck them in the paper collection. Haha!
Coleman
October 14th, 2021 - 10:45amIf your not interested in them you should put them on eBay, i bet you’d get a few quid for them. Give someone else some pleasure while you make abit of money.
Demdike@CultLabs
October 17th, 2021 - 7:30pmBy the time they’ve been posted in a none bendable A-4 envelope i wouldn’t make much. No point really. Anyone who wants them may as well just pay the tenner for the mag.

October 13th, 2021 - 12:50pmGreat to have Andrew Pixley back writing for DWM again. In the Marvel days of this publication the then Editor Gary Russell imagined Andrew’s Detailed Archive writings on the classic series serials to be a pull out partworks that were to be stored separately and this is exactly what I used to do. They are also great for getting signatures on at conventions.

October 13th, 2021 - 11:35amProbably won’t bother buying this issue. I only buy DWM occasionally now. The 5th Doctor’s TARDIS cardboard diaroma might have interested me, but I’ve got some of the Dapol TARDIS roundels walls which I use as a diaroma.

October 13th, 2021 - 11:25amOnce again with the negative comments. The same people will no doubt be complaining about RTD when the next doctor is announced or when he announces the companions or enemies or dares to to something different. I’m looking forward to this series.
RTD v Chibnall
October 13th, 2021 - 11:41amFor me personally, RTD is a superb writer, who also writes characters extremely well. Plus he knows how to write exciting drama. Chibnall’s writing isn’t up to standard for TV, but more suited for audio .
Dalekz
October 13th, 2021 - 5:34pmI agree a lot of the people now saying wow about RTD will be criticising him when he takes over again fans like to bite the hand that feeds them. Some seem to feel like they own the show but forget it’s for every fan old and young not just one fans personal expectations.

October 13th, 2021 - 5:38pmComplainers gonna complain sadly, I’m looking forward to series 13!

Haza14
October 13th, 2021 - 10:07amSounds great! Can’t wait to read this one! Hope the content with Jodie and Chris is in depth.
Interesting about the 28 page supplement on Series 12. Would have been nice to have this content within the magazine itself in the months after the series. Great that we’re getting it now though. Andrew Pixley’s stuff is always more retrospective as well anyway than immediate behind the scenes reactions from the cast and crew on each episode. Still hoping they’ll continue the 12th Doctor companions volumes! It’s been well over a year since the last one now I think!
bryan
October 13th, 2021 - 10:40amHI Haza14.
I am always impressed with the fantastic work of Andrew Pixley, And am rather glad its seperate , so I can shelve it with the White Hachette book or the specials. Shame its not a special to go with the other, but Lovely to get it at all.

October 12th, 2021 - 7:22pmDo you know which Tardis Diorama we are getting?

October 12th, 2021 - 8:52pmI’m guessing it’s the current one to tie in with the new series

October 12th, 2021 - 7:26pmMy expectations for series 13 are extremely low but I am looking forward to the story focusing on Mary Seacole although it will probably not be as good as the 12th doctor story with her
Doctor Stu
October 12th, 2021 - 4:56pmI don’t see how this is going to be the biggest story they’ve ever told, it’s going to be at least a little bit episodic as we’ve got weeping angels and sontarans to independently tackle as well as a new companion to introduce, I just don’t see how they’re going to be able to pull all this off in six parts. Especially with Chibnalls penchant for 50 minutes of nothing happening and then ten minutes of plot and wrap up at the end. Unless its actually 9 parts like we were originally told and the end of the series has genuinely just been split and shown as ‘specials’ throughout 2022 because they know they wouldn’t be able to get a series out next year.
BigBen64
October 12th, 2021 - 6:55pmThey mean in terms of scale, rather than how long it’ll last for…
(When they say “biggest story ever told”, be sure to expect universal threat/big scale dangers…)
Sam H
October 12th, 2021 - 9:16pmAnyone else feel like this season is the 3rd place playoff at the World Cup? Nice, but get it out of the way so we can get to the main event (RTD and a level of excitement again.. )
Daniel
October 14th, 2021 - 8:09amIve loved Jodie’s era ………much much better than the early Moffatt era (to me Lets Kill Hitler is the worst Doctor Who episode ever made).
Doug Who
October 12th, 2021 - 4:33pmBack on TV!
That takes me back!
Glad the strip is back but hope it is an improvement on the last time it appeared although of course that may have been due to extenuating circumstances.
Looking forward to the diorama and art cards too.

October 12th, 2021 - 4:10pmTardis diorama! Art Cards! Inside!…Off to the shops see ya laterz!

October 12th, 2021 - 3:54pm“This is the smallest season we’ve ever made”

October 12th, 2021 - 3:32pmWonder if RTD has given a interview?
Can’t wait for the 60th anniversary.
Coleman
October 12th, 2021 - 2:16pmThis should have been the cover of the last issue, all the team together. Instead of just John on his own.
SamWho
October 12th, 2021 - 2:47pmBut if they had done that what would have been the cover for this month? The same again? Dan was the focus last month & this month it’s all three for the start of the series I think that’s the right way to do it
Coleman
October 12th, 2021 - 2:52pmAh, ah. I knew someone was going to say that. No, just have something different for this issues cover. Maybe some Aliens on the cover with Jodie from this series that’s been mentioned on the new trailer?
Coleman
October 12th, 2021 - 3:04pmThe Flux, Ravages. Sontarans and Weeping Angels surrounding Jodie would do me for this cover.
SamWho
October 12th, 2021 - 3:55pmYeah it would be nice to have some monsters but it’s too early for that because they don’t want to reveal what they all look like yet and you know what they are like with spoilers even if they’ve said the word they don’t want to show them before the episode
Next month can be monsters month because we will have seen them on tv then this month is fam & last month was new companion makes the most sense to me
The ergon
October 12th, 2021 - 4:13pmIs that the correct spelling for the ravages coleman, i only ask as i was thinking of the recent big finish with chris eccleston but that was ravagers and wondering if there was a crossover.
Rhys Woodfield
October 12th, 2021 - 4:13pmI’m just thinking back to when I was a kid and how excited I would get from getting some tantalising pics of monsters or anything other than just promo pics we’ve seen dozens of times before on magazine covers like DWM and the Radio Times, now it feels like they’ve taken the secrecy around the series too far and don’t want to generate any real buzz. Even at Comic Con I found it so strange how reluctant they were to generate any excitement other than the casting of some minor actor from Thrones. The showman that is RTD will hopefully bring this back, he knew how to promote!
The ergon
October 12th, 2021 - 4:16pmAnd all new eaglemoss variants to boot.
Coleman
October 12th, 2021 - 5:07pmNot sure how it’s spelt ergon, just seen the new trailer where Jodie’s asking for help and mentions the Ravagers. Only a couple of weeks before we find out though.
The Fishmonger
October 12th, 2021 - 5:09pmDo we think these Ravagers are the same as the ones in the Big Finish Eccleston stories?
Coleman
October 12th, 2021 - 5:17pmCould be Fishmonger. It really depends on how it is spelt though, could be totally different spelling., its great to speculate anyway.
bryan
October 12th, 2021 - 2:07pmHooray. Back on the cover. Back on TV. Back with the comic strip.
Let’s hope the next issue continues this trend. More Jodie . Brilliant

October 12th, 2021 - 2:21pmAgreed! As the great philosopher homer (Simpson that is) once said, “whoo-hoo!”
Phasergrim
October 12th, 2021 - 4:28pm28 pages on the making of season 12? That’s not a year and a half late. But still, good to get the comic back, and we love that Back On TV sign
