I think most fans would disagree. This is a monumental moment in DWM and Target fandom.

Why do they always plug the subscription? With all the stuff being taken into the net why not help the shops more? Have an option to get the magazines in a shop by sending subscription coupons like newspapers do?

Where possible support your local newsagents/shops

they need the direct income and guaranteed sales to keep in business, escpcially now, happens with all magazines and always has.

They still could as subscribers would be sent coupons to use to pay for the magazine instores

that would sort of defeat the object of low cost direct subscriptions.

I Understand about keeping people going to shops but these subs have been done by all magazines for years now so not sure why its suddenly an issue.

The best DWM ever. Worth £100.
If you can’t see why that poster is not worth £50 for one side, £40 for the other, £6 for the mag and £4 for the book, then you have missed a 45 year sentient adventure thru true Who. I now need to buy a least one more copy, possibly two. Sealed, framed poster one side, framed poster the other side.
What a truly high moment for fandom..

Some interesting omissions from the poster, and yes I get they can’t show every cover used but it’s still interesting what they did and didn’t use. Book looks great n the shelves!

Yes, with Auton Invasion’s three covers, we can only have two of them.
I like the idea of a sampler book. That’s a first. Also its suitably thin, appropriate for Target.
I never open sealed DWMs as a rule but this is a must. I’ll get another copy.
For me, the best DWM ever. Been buying on release since 103..

Plenty of copies in sainsburys. The book is nice and features a short 3 page ‘story’ by Jonathan Morris that means it can be taken as a target book if you want. Personally I just think it looks great on the selves

Subscriber copies have started hitting the mats today; I’ve read on Gallifrey Base the Target book is indeed a sampler containing the opening chapters of each of the upcoming wave of. new Target novelisations.

Bit disappointed its a sampler only, seeing as I was going to get all the books anyway once they were released. Hardly an ‘exclusive book’……..more a readers digest sampler. I was thinking it may have been more fun for the book to contain novelisations of Time Crash and other Children in Need minisodes which are considered canon..

That’s what I’d hoped for Daniel. I’m still going to get this issue for the book (I no longer buy the magazine regularly) but I don’t think I’ll read it as I have the books ordered and I’d rather just read them in full. It’s more of a curio for the selves than a book to read. And the cover is nice so I’m reasonably happy to get it. Still it would have lovely to have an adaptation of time crash or my favourite space/time instead of a sampler.

Yes I received mine which was a very pleasant surprise I don’t recall ever having received a copy early since subscribing back in March so very happy and with a free book which I totally forgot all about.

      February 3rd, 2021 - 5:00pm

It IS disappointing it’s only a sampler, but it.dod say book, not novelisation which they usually use when referring to a target book, so i kind of thought it wouldn’t be a novel. Oh well!
It is still a lovely little thing and will look nice on the Target shelf

I think it’s safe to assume it’s a “sampler” boom. The images on the cover are all from upcoming Target releases. 13 fro The Witchfinders, 4 from Pirate Planet and 11 is reversed from Crimson Horror

The auto corrects a nightmare it’s always changing stuff I write. Usually check it about 3times now before I post. (It still manages to squeeze something in I never wrote).

    • Coleman

      February 2nd, 2021 - 5:57pm

Really looking forward to the wallchart now, if it’s like I suspect a chart showing off the covers of the previous books Target books.

      February 3rd, 2021 - 2:51pm

Got that one right about showing every book cover on the poster.

Educated guess as they did it with every magazine cover to celibrate 500 issues or whatever the anniversary was a couple of years ago.

I wish they would give fans the opportunity to have their artwork used for the front covers, some of them are fantastic

Some of them aren’t though so i guess they’d get loads of vitriol on social media for not having covers from people who can barely draw.

I assume from the cover that the book will be a sampler containing extracts, rather than a standalone novel.

Will their be 2 versions of this magazine, like they’ve done in the past, with a normal version at £5.99 without the book?
I’ll buy this version with the book. (Just curious).

Judging by how this is the only version they’ve advertised, I’d think not.

If they’d be doing a deluxe edition, they’d say something in the previous magazine.

But this is the only way of getting Issue 561.

Yes, there might be a framing story, leading into snippets of the new books.
