The Doctor Who Companion The 12th Doctor Volume Three
Doctor Who Magazine continues its in-depth chronicle of the show’s production with a 116-page volume dedicated to four memorable episodes of Series 8 and the subsequent festive special, all starring Peter Capaldi as the Doctor and Jenna Coleman as Clara Oswald:
- Flatline
- In the Forest of the Night
- Dark Water/Death in Heaven
- Last Christmas
Andrew Pixley’s unparalleled behind-the-scenes coverage – originally presented in the partwork Doctor Who: The Complete History and now revised and reproduced in magazine format for the first time – examines every aspect of the stories’ development, from scripting through to transmission and beyond.
Richly illustrated with rare images, this is the essential guide to the series that took Doctor Who in a remarkable new direction…
Available from WH Smith from Wednesday 19 February priced £9.99 and digitally from pocketmags.com priced £8.99.

February 21st, 2020 - 4:33amI’ve just been looking back through the Companion specials and was wondering if Matt Smith’s episodes from The Snowmen to Nightmare in Silver have had the Companion treatment?
The Flying Shark
February 21st, 2020 - 8:07amYes, there was a whole bookazine released about them not long after broadcast. Can’t remember the exact title but it was something generic like “Complete Guide to 2013” or something.
Steven
February 22nd, 2020 - 7:57amYes, thanks. It was special number 37. Shame it wasn’t called the 7th volume companion to the 11th Doctor but still a good special.

February 20th, 2020 - 11:16pmBooboo, I followed the on the WWFTE T shirt thinking it was a part of the website I hadn’t discovered, but lead me to Blogtor Who.
On Blogtor Who, they list new Eaglemoss news, but are talking about the Pyroville and Dalek gunship which have already come out, and are also saying the new yeti is issue 22 instead of the already existing Werewolf.
If you could tell me why hen I would be grateful as I want to know if it’s just something to do with different regions or something. Thank You.

February 21st, 2020 - 7:13ami dont know, they are getting this info exclusively in advance from Hero Collector
booboo
February 21st, 2020 - 8:50amjust had a look, the number is wrong its 23 for the Yeti, the reason they are showing the others is becuase they were exclusive to the EM site but will now be avalable at other retailers.

February 21st, 2020 - 7:50amI noticed they had dollar prices, so maybe these specials haven’t gone on sale in shops in the USA yet? Just guessing, though.

February 20th, 2020 - 11:06pmLove the way “In the Forest of the Night” is hidden in the bottom, “COUGH”, where it belongs.
The Flying Shark
February 21st, 2020 - 8:10amIf I were editor, there wouldn’t even be a feature on it inside. Just a line at the bottom of Flatline saying “oh, and there’s this forest episode after this one, but we don’t talk about that, so let’s move onto Cybermen” 😀

February 21st, 2020 - 10:09amSuch wise words…

February 20th, 2020 - 4:38pmLoving this cover! But the price puts me off. Will have to think very carefully about whether I need this.

February 20th, 2020 - 1:44pmDoes anyone know what the step up in price on the normal DWMs was for? It’s now €9.10 for me when it used to be around €8.10? Is it precautions due to brexit or just increased printing costs?
Demdike@CultLabs
February 20th, 2020 - 3:00pmCheaper in Euros than it’s UK price. It seems.

February 20th, 2020 - 3:24pm€9.10 = £7.64 at the moment
£9.99 = €11.90 at the moment
these are both current exchange rates figures.
Eoghan
February 20th, 2020 - 3:31pmApologies it’s €9.37 compared to €8.38 before Christmas, if that’s just exchange rates then fair enough but it’s starting to feel very expensive

February 20th, 2020 - 3:42pmIt may just be exchange rates but the magazines were and are getting expensive. I stopped getting it in order to have more funds for the material I definitely want. You are talking nearly £80 a year at just £5.99 every 4 weeks. If you can afford it great, I collected the mag for 33 years before stopping.
eoghan
February 23rd, 2020 - 10:52amit might have to become a selective buy due to costs but it is still nice to support the mag

February 20th, 2020 - 11:49amhopefully there will a volume 4 coming out from magicians apprentice covering the next season maybe spring or summer this year because i always enjoy reading these magazines
Demdike@CultLabs
February 20th, 2020 - 11:44amI saw this yesterday in Sainsbury’s but was put off by the price of £9.99 for what is in reality a magazine, not even a bookazine.

February 20th, 2020 - 11:09amPretty pointless when you can buy the Nice hardback Complete History volumes with the same content for the same price!
allofwho
February 20th, 2020 - 11:28amYes, but you would have had to have bought 5 separate CH volumes to cover what this series does in 3. I know they aren’t as nicely packaged, but I think the idea is to make Andrew Pixley’s articles more widely available. Certainly in my area, the Complete Histories stopped being stocked in WHSmith’s after a while.

February 20th, 2020 - 11:03amIs this £9.99 now?

February 20th, 2020 - 4:05pmYes.

February 20th, 2020 - 12:48pmThe WH Smiths factor ooh yes be next week no doubt before they even order them then if your lucky they will get put on the shelves a week after

February 27th, 2020 - 2:33pmStill no sign of whsmiths getting it sainsburys have it.
Strange as it’s whsmiths that deliver to sainsburys via their other brand
Daz
February 20th, 2020 - 10:30amThat price is the main reason I don’t buy these, also I don’t think I want to know every detail about a production anyway.

February 20th, 2020 - 1:08pmStick to fiction, it works for me. When you have read about the production process of one TV show/movie/theatre, etc then you really have read them all.
