The Web Planet Exclusive Edition Vinyl LP

Available to order exclusively from www.amazon.co.uk

A standard edition is also available from www.amazon.co,uk, www.amazon.com #ad and www.amazon.ca

Limited to 500 copies, this Amazon Exclusive is pressed on 180g themed animus Splatter vinyl. “We seem to be caught! Trapped, somehow…” published for the first time on audio, Demon Records presents a narrated full-cast TV soundtrack, starring William Hartnell as the Doctor in one of his most weird and wonderful adventures! In this vintage 6-part adventure, first shown on BBC TV in February and March 1965, a strange magnetic force pulls the TARDIS down to the craterous surface of vortis. The Doctor and his friends learn that the planet has been invaded, and the parasitic animus is slowly enveloping it in a web-like domain. The giant ant-like zarbi are under its control, whilst the butterfly-like men Optra are battling to reclaim their planet.

Presented across 3 x heavyweight 180g pieces of animus Splatter vinyl, This narrated TV soundtrack evokes a classic Doctor who adventure in all its aural magnificence. The alien ambience of vortis, the insistent chirruping of the zarbi, and the supernatural voice of the animus are all accompanied by the eerie Sonics of Ron grainer & Delia Derbyshire’s theme tune. Written by Bill Strutton, this was the doctor’s most exotic and Lavish adventure yet. Linking narration is provided by Maureen O’Brien (Vicki) and the cast includes William Russell as Ian, Jacqueline Hill as Barbara, Martin Jarvis as hilio and Roslyn de winter as vesting. Accompanying the Splatter vinyl LPs are full episode billings, cast and credits, and eight illustrated panels form a superb artwork Montage. This is a first-time audio release for this very special adventure. Dummedy-dum, dummedy-dum, dummedy-dum, dum-dum….

Surely this is going to get a CD release? Big fan of the narrated audio soundtracks, it would be sad if people like myself who don’t own a turntable were unable to listen to this release! Fingers crossed for a CD release and other stories getting the same treatment!

Just pre-ordered the exclusive vinyl, never watched (nor listened!) to The Web of fear, but has been on my list for a long while!

I much prefer ‘The Web of Fear’ to ‘The Web Planet’.

‘The Web Planet’ whilst not a great story in my opinion, is nonetheless better that it DOES exist in full, and can be watched. I’m sure I would find it more of a struggle to enjoy just listening to the soundtrack. I find it a struggle to watch all 6 episodes anyway.

I’m a tad miffed that a double LP 4 partner is around £20 but a triple LP 6 partner is touching £50! I love these and have them all so far, but that’s really my only gripe. They are utterly gorgeous things. Theres something special listening to them with the crackling of an LP.

with the 4 part stories so far, they use gatefold designed sleeves.
      with minimal design interiors

with the 3 + discs, they come in a Gif Box (box with lid, rather than box with no right side)
all 3 sleeves have unique artwork, with the full sized cast booklet, giving more panels, to create a larger version of Two art pieces.

I understand its expensive, but its a very reasonable price point, including in many cases free 1 class delivery. in superb quality packaging.

I am as excited about the whole package,as i am for The Zarbi (aka the Web Planet ) 🙂

Web Planet is a must have! Missing story?… no. Great story?… YES! I love anything to do with this story, collecting anything that has zarbis, menoptras, optras or anything to do with the story. “ZARBIIIIIIIII”!

I’m glad to see a new story come to the vinyl range! I’ve always thought Dalek Invasion of Earth and The Rescue would make good soundtracks, so could they be added seeing as, if they intend to release every soundtrack CD onto vinyl, we could have a good run of stories there (Romans, now Web Planet, Crusade and Space Museum all had CD soundtrack releases).

You could of course watch just the episodes and convince them to do missing episodes instead?

Really? Its a bit clunky, but thats pressure of time in studio, but the stretch of the imagination, and they ptoduced 4 new creatures

Zarbi, Menoptera (which I have always thought were beautiful design and superbly choreographed) Would have loved a CO figure of one or a Zarbi for that matter
Venom grubs and the Optera oh and the Animus too . All in one 6 part story.

I wont be bored, and there is lots of room for Maureen to add in the action.

I loved the Audio soundtracks on CD when they were done , pity they never really finished them as a range.

ooh at last an exclusive. I wonder if a CD version will be forthcoming, for those who collected the original range, but do not collect the Vinyl Editions.

Fantastic news. Really looking forward to hearing this ,and seeing the beautiful artwork, that has adorned each release so far.

I’m a little bit miffed that it’s not a missing story, as the previous box sets have been, I’d have hoped for the likes of Marco Polo or The Wheel In Space, but oh well.

These records so far have been absolutely lovely to have, the packaging, design, and the colour of the LPs really make them stand out from the rest of my record collection!

Weird. I had to double take I thought for a moment they had someone else covering it.
