May 28th, 2019 - 10:18amHopefully the next Big finish vinyl will be announced in this issue. I hope that it is another Tennant vinyl or even maybe a Torchwood one.

The Flying Shark
May 28th, 2019 - 1:06pmDeath and the Queen on vinyl has been heavily rumoured and, apparently, seen. HMV exclusive if true.
booboo
May 28th, 2019 - 1:19pmyes, September, unless its bought forward, they are trying to find out out it got out into the wild. should not have happened.
But then the internet keeps no secrets these days…
The Flying Shark
May 28th, 2019 - 1:22pmWait, so has somebody bought it in store then? Wonder how that happened?
booboo
May 28th, 2019 - 1:26pmsomehow a few copies found their way to a Canadian ebay (shop) seller of all places

May 28th, 2019 - 1:39pmIs there a link or image of the vinyl?
Gareth Pugh
May 28th, 2019 - 11:39pmeck, an HMV exclusive nowadays would be tricky for the likes of me – they have now closed down every London branch. And now have no live web store, so a trip to eBay is almost guaranteed already if this is true (unless they let Fopp carry it – which they *did* with a new Kate Bush exclusive last week).
booboo
May 29th, 2019 - 8:42amthey might have their on-line store back up and running by the time this is released

May 29th, 2019 - 4:20pmThe hmv thing is hugely annoying. I haven’t been able to get to an hmv store for seven months, finally got to one a few weeks ago asked when the online ordering was coming back to be told it wasn’t! Apparently it’s to encourage footfall into the stores. I did point out I couldn’t get to the stores easily. The response? I was told I could preorder items in store. To which I replied but I can’t get to the stores! The result? Hmv have lost my custom now for 7 now 8 months. In which time I’ve bought close to £200 worth of CDs, DVDs and DVD box sets. All from other online retailers or in the case of most movies or who, from supermarkets. I genuinely can’t see how hmv plan to survive with no online retail system.
Anonymous
May 29th, 2019 - 4:21pmBoo boo I’ve been told by hmv that the online store isn’t coming back.
booboo
May 29th, 2019 - 4:31pmI though they said it was, maybe its changed but with far less stores vinyl releases will be quite restrictive.
Anonymous
May 29th, 2019 - 4:48pmAs far as can ascertain boo boo the new hmv owner doesn’t have an online presence for ordering in it’s own Canadian stores. Sunrise records websites mirror the new hmv sites which is browsing only. No ability to order online.
booboo
May 29th, 2019 - 4:54pmthey have obviously changed their minds then
This was in a press story in February
“HMV’s online store is currently shut down while it is being revamped, but Putman says he hopes it will reopen in the next few weeks. He wants to add services such as the ability to check if a certain title is in a particular store in future.”
Anonymous
May 29th, 2019 - 6:42pmA few weeks from February seems to have stretched a bit! Four months later and still no online. As I said boo boo the staff in my local-ish hmv were adamant that there was not going to be an online ordering service coming back. The Canadian operation is like that, stores, a website but no online ordering.
booboo
May 29th, 2019 - 6:45pmjust reporting what had been said, if they can survive in the UK without online ordering all well and good.
Anonymous
May 29th, 2019 - 8:51pmOh I know you were just reporting what was said originally boo boo, I wasn’t doubting you. I read the same thing and have waiting ever since.

May 28th, 2019 - 9:45amI dont look forward to this anymore I though the last issue was very boring and was the first time I had ever thought this magazine was just going through the motions to meet the release date
The Flying Shark
May 28th, 2019 - 10:09amI think this issue looks good, but I agree the last issue was awful. There was very little that was actually exciting, even though there’s always stuff going on in the Whoniverse to be of interest. For example, that Tenth Doctor audio box set which was covered in three pages-why not expand to a six page feature with interviews with the writers? Or how about interviewing Steven Moffat for more than a single page? Quite a poor show.

May 28th, 2019 - 12:59amSorry, meant the big finish vinyl at Asda!

May 27th, 2019 - 11:55pmWhat date is it actually out on? I can then toddle off to Smiths & find they have sold out as usual!

May 28th, 2019 - 12:41amI believe it is out this Thursday (30th May).

May 30th, 2019 - 3:09pmFor once when I actually got into Smiths they had 10 Copies on the shelf – Totally stunned!
Anonymous
May 27th, 2019 - 10:50pmThere is a reason why this is an exclusive to w h Smith, it’s to encourage people to shop there. It’s no different to the recent hmv vinyl exclusive at hmv. Same reasons. The fact is you are under no obligation to buy any of these exclusive items.

May 27th, 2019 - 10:42pmYou’d think that it was nothing to get angry about… but this is the 21st century… people can get angry about anything!
Anonymous
May 27th, 2019 - 9:22pmWell, I’m pretty sure it isn’t compulsory to buy it. Subscribers get a discount and textless front covers already. If you want the extra content, get the deluxe version. If not, dont buy it. That’s it really, nothing to get angry about.

May 27th, 2019 - 7:36pmLovely cover!

May 27th, 2019 - 7:02pmTo clarify, yes, DWM said in issue 538 that this is again a WHSmith exclusive. The news piece said, 3 versions – standard newsstand version (with text on the cover) for £5.99, subscribers get their text-free cover version as usual and the Deluxe edition will be at some branches of WHS for £9.99.
The last one was apparently at WHSmith’s request (ie they approached Panini) asking for something exclusive to encourage footfall to their stores from Who fans. Panini can’t give this to subscribers or WHS would not be interested and walk away the idea.
Gareth Pugh
May 27th, 2019 - 7:00pmNo. There was a piece in last issue’s news pages explaining this

May 27th, 2019 - 6:51pmIf it’s like last years one, surely it’ll be WHSmiths exclusive once again.

May 27th, 2019 - 4:56pmWhats the WHsmith version??
Gareth Pugh
May 27th, 2019 - 5:08pmSimilar to last October’s ‘Deluxe Edition’ I believe. £9.99 gets you a card envelope with the standard mag (= text on cover) plus some extras, some still to be announced. We know there’s a bonus mini-mag (not sure what the specific ‘angle’ or theme to that is) and some downloads again (probably a mix of Big Finish and BBC audiobooks), plus what DWM described last issue as ‘a very special exclusive item’. I’d bet on there being a poster again and maybe some art/picture cards?
