Received this Rare Dalek along with regular issues 140 Zarbi and 141 Pirate Captain. All in one box with the lid barely sealed shut/bulging. The Zarbi was bigger than I’d expected – which meant it’s packaging was as well.

The figures were all ok but the magazines were, let’s just say, a little bit distressed? Anyone know how to get creases out of a magazine without leaving a trace? No, no-one? Thought not. If they were only curved a little bit then they could probably be flattened out, but folding the edges down so they fit in a box that’s too small doesn’t impress. Although it does demonstrate some skill in being able to apply origami to the magazines that are now being sent out along with the figures all in their own plastic bags – identical to the retail versions.

I know some people are only concerned about the figures themselves, everything else is secondary/something to store away or get rid of.
If I’m paying for a collectible item then I’d hope that the company that’s producing them would understand that the magazine as well as the figure, hell, even the packaging the figure comes in, are all part of the same package.

Famous example – early Star Wars figure – a few tens/hundreds of quid – figure in it’s original packaging – few hundred/few thousand – early figure and packaging that hasn’t been creased, dented, scuffed, folded in half, kicked up and down a halway… few thousand.

Waiting for Eaglemoss to get back to me. Deliveries have been far too hit-and-miss recently.

Whinge over – on the plus side the number of obscure figures (and the quality) are all getting better and better.

      Replying to myself.

Agree about the painting though. Some figures paintwork just does not match the sculpting.
Sorely tempted to do some repainting myself – but don’t think I have enough skill to do the job to the standard the figures deserve.

      Another reply to myself.

Wonder if Eaglemoss have ever thought of sending out unpainted sculpts (along with a painting guide). They’d need to put ‘ltd edtn’ or some other marking embossed into the piece to distinguish it from the fortnightly or special editions though?

or a black/white wash over it – creating a brand new range of greyscale variations to go with the main series, special edition, Rare Daleks, twin packs, boxed sets, Mega sized …

Lovely sculpt, terrible paint job – which seems to be a common fault with all of the rare Daleks — the Dalek Saucer Commander being the very worst of the lot. Very disappointing because, as I say, the model itself is great.

It’s a shame, especially when comparing them with, say, the Wirrn or the Daemon special, which are just beautiful.

Interesting to pair 12 with bill. Would have thought they would have gone for Clara, but the more companions the better!

Yeah, I am now very confused by Eaglemoss’ inability to count. I have two 13s I also seem to be missing a 9. Gas anyone out together a list if the Rare Daleks listing name, box number and mag number?

they went out a sequence when they jumped from 4-6 and missed out 5 on the boxes so there were then 2 sixes, there was never a 9 on the box, this has been a problem for ages though and they have only just corrected it by doing 2 13’s

      All Daleks in sequence Here

      All mags in sequence Here

There’s a reason why it says 13: someone forgot that it was the 14th gift to premium subscribers (13 figurines and 1 plinth).

Email them. They missed Rare Dalek 7 for me back in September 2016. I did get the magazine though.
It is on back order but I am still waiting for them to make me another one. 2 1/2 years and counting.

It’s also more detailed than the first Death to the Dalek figurine especially around the mid section.

God dammit, it’s a RARE dalek, that is going to be outside my reach, shame it’s a nice colour scheme. To rub salt into the wound, it looks to have been sculpted around the genesis dalek body which means it’s just a repaint, with the oval attached between the arms.

You are aware that literally any small change is going to demand a totally new sculpt? It’s not “just a repaint” if they’ve added the oval.

      I can promise it’s not a repaint.
