The Silent Stars Go By by Dan Abnett. The winter festival is approaching for the hardy colony of Morphans, but no one is in the mood to celebrate. They’re trying to build a new life on a cold new world, but each year it gets harder and harder. It’s almost as thouigh some dark force is working against them. Then three mysterious travelers arrive out of the midwinter night. Are they bringing the gift of salvation, or doom? What else lurks out there in the dark–and what else might be about to wake up?
Touched by an Angel by Jonathan Morris. In 2003, Rebecca Whitaker died in a road accident. Her husband Mark is still grieving when he receives a battered envelope posted eight years earlier, containing a set of instructions with a simple message: “You can save her.” As Mark is given the chance to save Rebecca, it’s up to the Doctor, Amy, and Rory to save the whole world–because this time the Weeping Angels are using history itself as a weapon.
DOCTOR WHO ONE
July 26th, 2015 - 6:23pmThe spine on this book reminds me of the label on that blue bottle the BBC’s Official Doctor Who Instagram page had shown in recent weeks.

July 25th, 2015 - 4:38amSeriously? From what I understand, B&N does this for various works that usually are litteracy or general writing classics (Christmas Carol, Romeo & Juliet, Iliad & Odyssey, etc), or particularly significant cultural icons (novelizations of the original Star Wars trilogy). Doctor Who might fit in the latter, but why in the world did they just pull two of the Eleventh Doctor books off a shelf (only one of which was made for an initial unique hardcover print, and have already been reprinted in the 50th/Monsters collections) and put them in here to call it a day?! This sort of thing should’ve been done with Target novelizations, or some of the New Adventures, or at least a collection of stories ranging across the show’s history. Why it’s just a fancy version of yet another reprint of Eleven novels just boggles the mind.

July 24th, 2015 - 11:27pmI own both these books, and they are actually two of my favourite Who novels! I’d suggest this to anyone – a) because it looks great and b) because the books inside are both masterpieces.
