Yesteryear Feature – Dapol

Between 1987 and 2001 Dapol held the licenses for making Doctor Who products. They produced a wide range of Doctor Who toys, many of which are now considered highly collectable.

I just brought a Dapol 1996 cream robe timelord high councillor in original package which was found in a closed shop stock room I got it for £29.99 I have a few questions
dose anyone know how rare it is?
What was its orgianl retail price in 1996
    How many were produced?
    Will it gain value?
I would like to know if I got a good deal

I think I paid £3.99 back then, but could be wrong. I think the 4 colours were produced together so neither is rarer than the other – unless of course one sold better and more made. With dapol youi are never quite sure! I’ve never seen a record of how many units were made.
I’ve seen them sell for less and more so probably an OK price.

Sorry to say but this, other Time Lords and other Dapol Figures are still available from the Who Shop @ £6.99 so not really rare at all.
As with most vintage Who merchandise best to check on Web first before buying to get an idea of prices if you’re not sure unless you really want something and are prepared to pay over the odds.

I got a naked Sea Devil on Saturday from Warrington Comic Con for £6. As I said, it doesn’t have the cloth garment, belt or heat ray, but I think it’s quite a good price considering it’s quite rare.

Don’t know if this is useful but there was a seller at a convention last summer who I think used to sell the dapol figures but they were sent back since apparently popularity went down since Doctor Who was cancelled and the figures had only just been unpacked etc as they had been in storage for several years now, I don’t think this makes that much sense since Dapol were still making the figures to a bit after the millenium but I can sort of believe it.

From there I got the a few figures and the bright light-up tardis which I kept the box…

like many things people still collect them and many are rare and can fetch a lot of money now such as Melkur, Sontarans , 2nd Doctor and the Tardis console

The Dalek Playset is a Dalek which splits in half, theres a Tardis with a Tom Baker figure and also a rolykin dalek which resembles a dalek from Death to the Daleks and also a Davros from Remebrance of the Daleks. I’m asking for £80 for all the items and postage included but i’d also sell the items seperately for less.

And the time rotor mechanism was broken. I had sort of managed to fix it, but my repair did not withstand the wears of time.

@ The Pandorica: How I would love to have an Ace – particularly a signed Ace! So awesome! I adored Sophie Aldred… I hope Underground Toys is able to do her justice when they release such a figure.
