Character Options is delighted to announce a brand-new exclusive for its iconic Doctor Who Collection – the Fifteenth Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver.

The Fifteenth Doctors sonic screwdriver boasts a completely revamped shape and design, with its curved edges, making it the most unique rendition of his favourite bit of tech yet.

The deluxe version, available only on Character online, boasts an exclusive ‘electro plated’ finish making it look like real polished steel and brass. It features two modes of operation, Open and Closed, as well as five brand new and totally unique sound and light effects, with each accessed by a different button sequence.

On this deluxe version of The Fifteenth Doctor’s device there are many new features including a uniquely shaped, swivel-out Power Core complete with flickering Power Crystal Chamber and on/off sounds. There are also three distinctly different sounds with accompanying light FX; a standard sonic sound, a data sound, and a lifeform scan sound. The spring-out and retract Emitter section also has its own sound and finally the slide out analyser comes with its own sound completing the sound FX.

The sonic comes beautifully presented in Regeneration style packaging and is the perfect piece of memorabilia to add to any Doctor Who collection.

Hi. A question for anyone who has (and has opened) both the deluxe and the retail version. Have you noticed a difference in the swivel joint? My retail one is much stiffer than the deluxe one, such that the latter can open under its own weight if held by the smaller half. Can anyone else confirm, or say which stiffness is correct if this is not expected? Thanks.

Maybe check your spam folder to see if the email is there?

Might also want to contact Character Options’ customer service…

Received my 15th Doctor Sonic through the post this morning, and happy to confirm that I got the Deluxe Edition of the screwdriver and not the standard (as there were some people mentioning they got the standard instead of the deluxe).

It’s an interesting design and on the hand its quite comfortable to hold. QC-wise, I only have one tiny scratch but that’s on the back of the screwdriver, and the scratch is not noticeable unless you’re looking quite closely at it, but overall QC is quite good.

Anyone else notice how this deluxe version is missing a section that should be electroplated, but isn’t? Looking at the face of it where the buttons are, look at the small circle blue section at the base, it’s the same blue as on the retail version, they missed a bit.

This deluxe version really is a let down.

Sorry to say this, but that is a really petty remark. The only reason that won’t have been electroplated is simple; it’s part of an entire gold plate underneath the buttons and from what I understand of the process it would have been really fiddly to electroplate the tiny 1.5cm circle you’re on about. Honestly there is no pleasing some people

It’s nothing to do with it being “fiddly” – it’s an oversight. If you look at the thin area that swivels out below it. The area I’m talking about continues underneath, and that part *is* electroplated. So that little section is half electroplated and half not. Once you notice it, you won’t be able to unsee it.

Now that I have had my sonic a little while I have to say I really love it! The most fun Sonic they have done. Lost count of how many times I have switched between the secret sounds and back again. I cant stop fiddling with it lol.

Received mine but I’m a bit gutted that the blue paint application is quite poor. Haven’t even taken it out of the packaging, will send it back for a replacement.

kinda regret buying this version now, it’s so expensive. and the paint is so easily scratched when rotating the handle thing in and out. it’s a cool toy, but it should be nearly half the price it is

Mine arrived yesterday but the emitter button you press doesn’t work. I’ve just emailed character about this but has anyone else had this issue?

Received mine. And its nice. But mine seems to have some of the silver missing from the bit that opens out. Also on the dial that pops out the top there are loads of scratches across the centre. Anyone else’s like this? Tempted to ask for a replacement, especially at the price

On mine, below the emitter section, but on the face. So upwards from the buttons, there’s a little silver circle which is a screw cover, and that has come loose on mine. First time I used the emitter button it went flying across the room.

I can put it back but it won’t stay secure, every time the emitter springs out it goes launching. So I asked for a replacement and sent photos. I’m not sending it back, the box was destroyed trying to open the thing. They can send me a replacement or a partial refund.

Definitely ask for a replacement. You’ll have to send the old one back (freepost) but Character are good for that as they will use yours as feedback on quality control.

How difficult is it to make-up a username and stick to it? I have to mention the best banned username I heard from a Who forum though: “Hartnell’s Gimp” – it still makes me laugh twenty years later.

I’m confused. What’s the problem The DR? Did a comment get taken down that I missed? If you’re referring to the comments currently up on this post by the users named Anonymous and Anon I don’t really see what the problem is. As far as I’m aware it’s never been against the rules to name yourself in such a manner on this site? If there were some anonymous trolls that posted and got taken down that I missed then fair enough, but the posts so far seem fairly innocuous?
@Bland Username 2164 LOL that is very funny!

I wasn’t aware of not allowing to use “Anon” or “Anonymous” for the usernames, I apologise. I’ll use a username from now on.

Sorry for the Late reply Toob, I’ve only just seen your Comment.
As already mentioned, the Comments got a bit heated awhile ago and they were all using Anon or Anonymous. Personally im glad they’ve been banned as I was getting confused as heck having conversations with these people, then wondering if I was answering to the same person or someone else.

Is there any difference between these ones and the ones from SDCC? Like maybe a SDCC symbol or something?

None: The SDCC were marketed as DELUXE same as the ones from Character.

A bit late to the party but, I placed an order just now. ‘looking forward to receiving it through the post next week.

Some people on this website have mentioned that they received the standard edition instead of the deluxe edition which I’m a bit worried that’ll happen to me. Hopefully not.

Yeah there is no chrome version. The deluxe is shiny but nowhere near chrome. Maybe Jordan’s talking about the 14th doctor’s sonic.

My sonic just arrived today – looks great. Definitely the Deluxe version, as I’ve seen some on here got sent the wrong ones. The outer box was soaked from the torrential rain today, but luckily the sonic inside was fine!
