Dark Gallifrey
When Time Lords go bad… fear the worst. An epic new 24-part full-cast audio drama event from the worlds of Doctor Who begins in April 2024.
When things turn dark, and you’re all alone, there is one traveller of time and space… a wanderer in the fourth dimension… a renegade Time Lord… who will always be there to bring back the light.
But the thing about Time Lords… is they can’t all be heroes.
Big Finish Productions presents Dark Gallifrey, a brand-new series showcasing the most chaotic, mischievous and evil Time Lords the planet has ever produced. Morbius (Samuel West), The War Master (Sir Derek Jacobi), Missy (Michelle Gomez) and the Master (Eric Roberts) will each take turns to feature in their own three-part story, with more to follow.
Series Producer, Rob Valentine said: “Dark Gallifrey is a sprawling, multi-story event in which all the most dastardly Time Lords are being let out of the box in various unexpected ways. Some stories are very dark, others are wickedly funny, and some are absolutely insane.
“Expect a rogue’s gallery of Gallifrey’s most diabolical villains all taking to the stage. Their stories are wildly different, scripted by some of Big Finish’s most acclaimed writers… and, behind it all, something massive is brewing.”
The Worlds of Doctor Who – Dark Gallifrey will be released monthly, with the first two trilogies materialising between April and September 2024. Two more trilogies will follow per year until the final release in 2027.
Each part of Dark Gallifrey is now available for pre-order as a single-disc collector’s edition CD (+ download for just £10.99) or download only (for just £8.99).
Big Finish listeners can also pre-order a complete year’s worth of Dark Gallifrey stories for each of the four years the series will run. These bundle pre-orders (two trilogies in each) are available for just £60 (on collector’s edition CD + download) or £50 (download only).
The complete Dark Gallifrey pre-order (for all eight trilogies) is just £210 (on collector’s edition CD + download) or £188 (download only).
All the above prices include the special pre-order discount and are subject to change after general release.

February 20th, 2024 - 3:33pmSpin offs of spin offs – It was always going to get a little convoluted trying to fit everything into a cohesive continuity.
I’m waiting for the spin off where the Gravis joins as a new travelling companion to bridge the gap when they took him home after Frontios.

February 20th, 2024 - 3:55pm“little convoluted trying to fit everything into a cohesive continuity”…………………..welcome to doctor who!
I’m assuming you did see the flus, the 60th and the “tales from the tardis” right????? The whoniverse is ripped wide open, all timelines and multiverses exist, in some the doctor regenerates, in others he didnt, in others mary shelly knew the 8th doctor, in others she only kenw the 13th. every iteration of every character co exists………..or perhap s you would rather a big finish explanation like in the “the last day” when ace explains “timeline fluidity” and that what happens has happened, but then didnt so how are you the same person.
This is a multiverse tale currently confirmed to involve three incarnations of the master – the master does exist outside of the doctor!
Big finish…….making a jigsaw out of the universe…….you might like it?

February 20th, 2024 - 3:56pm*flux, not flus before those comments start…….

February 20th, 2024 - 4:17pmMore then 2 alphabets – yes, saw all those and decided long ago that continuity or not.. a good story is a good story regardless. I leave the arguements to other people and as mentioned by someone else, if it doesn’t appeal – don’t buy it. Enough Who to go round these days.

February 20th, 2024 - 6:10pmThey haven’t done a Gravis spin off but the closest thing they did in that gap before 5 and Tegan go back to Turlough is Time in Office and Excelis Dawns

February 20th, 2024 - 7:53amYet another unneccesary spinoff from Big Finish. We already have seperate boxsets/series for the War Master and Missy, plus both of those characters have also featured in UNIT and 8th Doctor boxsets. There’s definitely a vibe of barrel scraping with this new boxset. They cast a new Rani about a decade ago, so they should’ve brought her back to at least give this something fresh, rather than reusing the same 2 or 3 characters again and again.
I’m glad I started with Big Finish 20yrs ago when they focussed on the monthly releases and just did a few spinoffs (Dalek Empire and Bernice Summerfield), as if you are new to them now, there are so many dozens of different spinoffs, it would be difficult to know where to start.
More then 2 alphabets
February 20th, 2024 - 10:06amDisagree entirely – a number of the spin offs have come to an end including UNIT, River song, Jago and Litefoot, Bernice Summerfield, war doctor begins to name a few. Big finish have seemingly decreased their output recently. To be frank, ALL on these sets are unnecessary but a OPTION to fans, pick and mix, if you only want to listen to doctors 1-12 that’s fine, no one is forcing you dear……
The monthly range was a CONVOLUTED MESS by the end, so much that big finish themselves recognised it as impossible to “jump on”, thus the more accessible boxsets – pick your doctor and jump on board is the format.
The Rani is tied up in legal dispute thanks to the baker estate after their passing – a widely known fact that big finish have stated numerous times.
Its so boring that people constantly talk about “the good old days” of chimes of midnight and spare parts.
This is something a little different, vote with your wallet and save yourself some cash, I cant wait to hear more of characters away from the doctor, ones where they actually win and give creditability to their mythology as dangerous entities that slaughter millions for the fun of it……and please no more Daleks!!!

February 20th, 2024 - 12:52pmHave to agree with uncle. So many people I know have stopped big finish due to recasting and constant pointless mashups.
More then 2 alphabets
February 20th, 2024 - 1:39pmrecasting is a totally different situation then content output , I totally understand its hot/miss for some, arguably I would take sadie millar and daisy ashford any day over a audiobook reading or a old format companion chronicle. Im sorry but with the exception of fraser hinze as 2, no one one the companion chronicles nailed their doctor – just listen to Bernice tackle 7……….oh dear.
I have found that most on these recasts you have to stick with and the improvement occurs, trouble is that the actors are asked to keep one toe in their own voice so it means that we never will get 100%.
I also understand the “let the dead be” and that we should only have living actors, trouble is that people (me being one) want to hear new stories, i like stephen noonan, he genuinely gets better and better and I want to hear his doctor meet old foes and companions.
Again, vote with your wallet, theres clearly a want for them otherwise they wouldnt happen!

February 19th, 2024 - 7:15pmHow cool would it be if they had got Timothy Dalton in to play Rassilon? Bet he did a lot of dark things during the Time War.
Enough for 2 letters
February 19th, 2024 - 7:31pmRichard Armitage is the go to rassilon of big finish and TBF, his madness and anger is much more powerful the Timothy Dalton. Don’t get me wrong, Dalton is great but I suspect his incarnation would be at the tale end of the time war.

February 19th, 2024 - 1:34pmLet’s hope it’s not as disastrous as “Once and Future”, where – four months after the download releases – we are still waiting for the special edition CD’s for parts 6 & 7. I’m really not holding my breath at ever receiving them now and, to be honest, not that bothered any more. I’ve given up on this and BF, and agree with Anomie’s comment.

February 19th, 2024 - 3:09pmIt’s very frustrating that the last two physical releases haven’t been sent to us yet. The previous ones all took a long time to arrive due to all the mistakes about the logo
Enough for 2 letters
February 19th, 2024 - 4:07pmhonestly this “once and future” toxicity argument is beyond a joke now, move on! If you want to give up on Big finish over one issue then ok………..good luck, i will stick with them having bought 1129+ CD’s with 50+ pre orders right now, ONE pressing and distribution issue I can think of is an amazing track record.
“Once and future” was a ONE OFF issue that whilst unfortunate, seems to be regarded as a death nail in a company that for 25 years has been consistent, top quality and with an increasing output that eclipses any of its peers. I ordered both editions, got 7/7 standard and 5/7 special – all on the app on day one, yes it was a little sad not to get them within days of release. Please save the “i listen to the cd”, its 2024- download it or get the app!
Dark Gallifrey is an ambitious idea yes and quite the investment if you pre order all upfront, its something a little different and with characters that the fans love to hear from. If you don’t want to listen and burn your bridge with BF then that’s your choice……….roll on april and the return of morbius!!!!!

February 19th, 2024 - 11:22amBig finish just gets more and more ridiculous

February 19th, 2024 - 4:27pmLove Doctor Who though I do, I think the show as a whole is inherently ridiculous.

February 19th, 2024 - 10:13amThis series has me hooked, there is alot of potential villain timelords they could focus on and Morbius is a character that Big Finish have only ever done one story about back in 2008. It’s great that they have even got Samuel West back to reprise the role of Morbius

February 19th, 2024 - 2:12pmFirst year is Morbius and the War Master, Year 2 appears to be Missy and Roberts Master.
I’m clutching at straws to find excitement for the Monk and Beevers Master.
This range need something new.
Auton
February 19th, 2024 - 3:08pmHas the Beever master been confirmed, I didn’t think it had. It looks like it’s the monk and Nun are in the trailer so I’m guessing a trilogy each for them. Which leaves two characters we don’t know: Omega, Rassilon, the Rani, The Eleven (Or one of his other incarnations), Drax, Borusa or the Rani if they get rights to use her are all possiblities
Enough for 2 letters
February 19th, 2024 - 4:14pmDrax isnt really a “bad timelord”, just a bit of a con man out to make a few quid, dont think he is worthy of his own trilogy, be a bit boring but he would be a fun one to crop up in a disc or two maybe.
Omega would be hard to use, unless this is a multiverse idea. The Morbius actor is the same as the mcgann CD but the omega actor has passed away so might be one to leave alone.
My fingers are crossed that Micheal Jayston recorded something for this before he passed. If not Micheal then the alterative universe Doctor/valeyard from Gallifrey 4 voiced by Colin Baker again…..even more colin!
Perhaps the younger cardinal ollistra might be an interesting spin on the “bad timelord”
The beevers master didnt feature in the trailer and tbh, three masters upfront is sort of enough, unless the “bald master” makes his return
