I got this yesterday with issue 28, a good read but felt it could have been left until later because we’ve just had a Fourth Doctor about 4 or 5 issues ago.

How cool would it be though to have a similar cover to this with Dark Water/ Death in Heaven, The Magicians Apprentice/The Witches Familiar and The Zygon Invasion/ The Zygon Inversion

Id like to see some more of the artwork released as A4 prints…easy to wall mount and an easy way to represent all your favourite stories…The irony is Ive only unwrapped a couple from their cellophane and they were ‘doubles’ when some were received in damaged condition and panini had to replace them -which admittedly they did without fuss…it has to be said the packaging is not the best and certainly isn’t downpour proof.

DWM has provided a fair number of them in poster format. Bit bigger than A4 but they’ve provided it all the same.

I gave up this collection by its third issue because it was too expensive and too frequent, I wish it was only £5 or £6 an issue instead of £10. Since it comes out twice a month, that’s 24 issues a year and since its £10 an issue that’s £240 you spend on only 1 years issues!

To compare, the doctor who magazine is £5 an issue and comes out only once a month so you would only spend £60 on 1 years issues (give or take a few pounds as some times they are £6) which is much more reasonable.

Even though the doctor who magazine isn’t nearly as collectable as the complete history is, the complete history is nearly 4X more money per year (and 2X more per issue)!

Aswell as that, you have to buy every single issue of the complete history to make it worthwhile as a collection. If there is going to 80 issues in the collection (like it says on the website) for a full collection you will have to pay a MASSIVE £800!! (give or take a few pounds)

But still, I do love the complete historys information and amazing front cover art, just wish it was cheaper 🙂

Its what you gotta do when you buy partworks, you cant really complain.

The first issue is now only £1.99 – you don’t really need the most ‘up-to-date’ issue as it’s about old stories anyway so I’d reccommend getting each issue once its price has decreased if you are worried about the money – that way the collection of 80 issues would only cost £159.20.

The first issue was £1.99 anyway, so it’s not a reduction.

Yeah, the first issue was only £1.99 anyway, like i said above ( “give or take a few pounds” ) and the only reduction that has been made on them has been at forbidden planet where they reduced ONLY SOME to £8 in store (issue 4 etc) meaning you would still have to pay a MASSIVE £640 for a full set (maybe more as not all of them are reduced!)

I do hope forbidden planet reduce them further like they reduced the figurine collection down to as little as £2 each ( issue 3,4,5 etc)
If they reduce them to maybe £5 each that would be £400 which, dont get me wrong, isnt cheap, but is better.

Seriously though, how can you complain? You wouldn’t think twice about spending £10 on a book that is smaller and has less pages than this PARTWORK, youre only complaining because of how frequent they are brought out. Its how the world works my friend, sometimes you have to grit your teeth and bear it

To be honest, i would never buy a book at £10 and i would wait until its reduced to £4 or £5, especially if its non-fiction. Also, it dosnt have a crazy amount of pages and isnt that big either and i think that they could put it at a more reasonable price as it probably only costs them around £5 to make (because its a hardback).

As i said in my first comment though, it would be £800 for a full collection and me and many other people are not going to dish out that kind of money for some books – (£800 could get you a short holiday or food for 2 weeks!)

Im not saying that the quaility or content is bad, its just i think they could have made them so much more affordable.

Price would be based on market research and how many they need to produce

This rage would never have seen the light of day for £5.00 a book

I get what you mean booboo but couldnt they not have made that £6.99 or £7.99 each, and only once a month. (The only problem with this is it would drag on for 2 or 3 years and eventually people would loose intrest.)

Or, they could have put 5 or 6 stories in each book and make them £10 a book. Then they would only need to do them once a month and only have half the amount of issues to collect.

      Part works are always fortnightly

You are asking them to do something to fit your own circumstances rather than what is actually financially viable

I’ve actually had some that have run weekly or quad-weekly, but that’s down to the circumstances of the collection (gneerally a cheaper one runs quicker, a very expensive one will run a lot slower. Fortnightly is about right for this price range.

It may be expensive to some but to me £25 a month is a bargain to me and I never regret my decision to subscribe to this collection

As usual a smashing cover…no matter how much you dislike a season or Doctor these covers are never anything less than totally impressive – so far.

A collectors item of 50 years off.
