Six new Doctor Who Collectors’ Sets + New Australia / USA Availability

Some sets are available now with more to follow from www.sanity.com.au

Customers in the USA will be able to order sets via www.amazon.com #ad

Character Options is pleased to announce the launch of six new Doctor Who action figure sets launching in late July 2020.

The range includes several action figure boxsets, including Friends and Foes of the Thirteenth Doctor set which completes the Thirteenth Doctors crew. All include highly detailed 5.5 inch scale figures featuring multiple points of articulation and come beautifully packaged.

The new collection will be available in the UK exclusively at B&M stores from late July and in the USA from www.amazon.com #ad and in Australia from www.sanity.com.au

Hotly anticipated is the Friends and Foes of the Thirteenth Doctor set. These are the first figures of companions Yasmin (Yaz) Khan, as seen in ‘Arachnids in the UK’, and Ryan Sinclair as seen in the story ‘Rosa’. The set also features a Judoon Trooper, one of the ruthless intergalactic security enforcers seen in the story ‘Fugitive of the Judoon’.

The new release of the Second Doctor and TARDIS Set features detailing from the last episode of 1969’s ten part epic ‘The War Games’, the final story of Season Six. The set comprises the Second Doctor with ripped trouser knee details and bedraggled appearance. The TARDIS comes in dark blue with iconic Second Doctor square top lamp, standard opening doors, ‘POLICE BOX’ signage and the newer low-profile base.

For Dalek aficionados there will be the two History of the Daleks Sets, which include specially created inserts as part of the heritage Doctor Who brand packaging.

‘The Daleks’ Collector Set comprises of a Twin Dalek Set and features the Daleks as seen fully in ‘The Daleks’, the second story of the very first season of Doctor Who in 1963. When seen in the early days of black and white television these Daleks were utterly alien in look and virtually identical in their livery of silver, mid grey and blue hemispheres. Their eyestalks became larger or smaller like the pupil of an eye and their guns comprised straight metal rails with inset plastic octagons. To identify each prop the casings had parallel black lines etched on, numbering them one to four. This has been replicated as accurately as possible in this new set.

The Dalek Invasion of Earth Collector Set features the Daleks as seen in the second serial of the second season, The Dalek Invasion of Earth, from 1964. Overwhelming demand and popularity meant the Daleks had to return, and this time they came to Earth. These revised Daleks were taller and more imposing with deep bases and revised colour schemes this stunning new set represents a silver eyed ‘Drone’ Dalek and the black ‘Saucer Command’ Dalek.

Hot on the heels of the Harry Sullivan figure release last year, Companions of the Fourth Doctor features a new figure of Sarah Jane Smith and two figures of Romana completing the Fourth Doctor’s companion list from 1975 to 1981. This set includes Sarah Jane Smith as seen in 1975’s ‘Genesis of the Daleks’ and ‘Revenge of the Cybermen’ stories, and Romana as seen in 1978’s ‘The Pirate Planet’ and 1979’s ‘Destiny of the Daleks’.

For some collectors, the arrival of the 1971 U.N.I.T Claws of Axos Set ends possibly the longest awaited figure release and completes the classic Third Doctor’s core U.N.I.T team of Brigadier Lethbridge Stuart, Captain Mike Yates and Sergeant John Benton. This new set features figures from Season 8’s 1971 story ‘The Claws of Axos’; the Brigadier wearing his less formal uniform with U.N.I.T beret, and Benton and Yates sporting their combat fatigues and webbing.

Al Dewar, Character Options, Creative Director, said. “This will be the first time in almost a decade where there will be parallel launches of the same product in the UK and the USA. Hopefully this new wave of toys will contain a few surprises for everyone. As always, the Character team has tried very hard to bring something new to delight, and hopefully exceed the expectations of fans and collectors alike. This time we are bringing even more to the table with six new products!”

Can’t wait for these (especially Romana II and Ryan) and love the site. Booboo, are you the manager? This page doesn’t yet appear to come up under the 5.5 inch page.
Also have you seen the google sheet figure inventory going around on Facebook?

    • booboo

      June 12th, 2020 - 1:04pm

its because its a news article / press relase, there will be separate posts for each set in that category with all the product codes etc nearer the time.

yes i know about the sheet

I’m not sure I’m allowed to share it as it’s an external link. Booboo? Someone’s made a 5.5 inch checklist sorted by character rather than by release.

Barcodes for the forthcoming B&M sets. History of the DALEKS #2 (DIOE) 5029736072063, 2nd Drs Tardis 5029736072056, UNIT, 5029736072049, Companions of the 4th Doctor, 5029736072025. These are the only codes I have at the moment.

    • The Ergon

      June 12th, 2020 - 4:06pm

Basically the codes bar the last 4 digits per set. Can you post thirteenth companions when you have them? I don,t do facebook but i,ve looked around and been unable to find this code listing. Thanks a lot.

    • booboo

      June 12th, 2020 - 4:16pm

I have got them all and will post them when its time. Also I think its a collectors list for all figures doing the rounds , not specifically to do with B&M

    • The Ergon

      June 12th, 2020 - 5:35pm

Have you a date when you are allowed to post the codes Booboo? It would save having to go into detail with staff, though they generally just grab whats on the shelf and explain what they do have in stock without codes. Most are usually helpful but once they get bogged down with endless calls they tend to just leave it ringing knowing full well it will just be those Doctor Who nerds calling again. The codes above i wrote down but was a little wary and would check again when it becomes official.

    • booboo

      June 12th, 2020 - 5:48pm

its not a question of being allowed, last year it was when the stocks arrived so stores didn’t get tonnes of calls for something they didn’t have yet, but as far as i’m aware you can’t phone stores anymore, They have removed option 3 so you cannot speak to a person on the shop floor so the codes become irrelevant really.

There is an app, but it lags in time so not 100% reliable.

This year you will probably have to drive all over to get what you want as you will have no way of knowing what store has actually got what.

    • The Ergon

      June 12th, 2020 - 7:02pm

And There is no answer for product enquiries on option 2. As there is no certainty as and when stores get there stock and rather than do wasted round trips i guess more will be falling back on Ebay sellers and taking it regardless of cost.It would be too much trouble to go out of your way just to find an empty shelf or old stock. I would have to travel 15 miles+ as our local never gets much Who stock in and its one of the bigger Home stores.

    • booboo

      June 12th, 2020 - 7:35pm

yes its not going to be easy this time around

    • Ian

      June 13th, 2020 - 10:39am

What is wrong with those codes I posted? You think they are false?

    • booboo

      June 13th, 2020 - 10:55am

No, but we never post codes until the stock has arrived because people are now more than likely chasing around stores pestering staff (because you can’t phone any more) for stuff that they don’t have yet.

    • tom baker rules

      June 13th, 2020 - 11:24am

      what are the barcodes for?

    • booboo

      June 13th, 2020 - 11:37am

so you use the app and check stock, when it arrives and is on the website.

    • tom baker rules

      June 13th, 2020 - 12:24pm

      ok

i wonder if the helmet from the judoon comes off?

    • DoctorRomanaTARDIS

      June 11th, 2020 - 9:07am

I doubt it to be honest, looks to me this is a re-release of the judoon trooper figure from 2007, just without the accessories and with the new gun

  • tom baker rules

    June 10th, 2020 - 7:10pm

i know there’s a slim chance of this happening, but does anyone else think that they should make a bessie? 🙂

    • booboo

      June 10th, 2020 - 7:21pm

well i think there was going to be one many moons ago, but i think pretty slim now

    • tom baker rules

      June 10th, 2020 - 9:46pm

it’s a shame that the idea never went further 🙁

  • DoctorOsgoodTARDIS

    June 9th, 2020 - 3:41pm

Been thinking about the possibility’s for the next Doctor and TARDIS release, hoping for S23 6th doctor set. Given the TARDIS could be easily made with pre-exsisting parts the Doctor could come with a new head sculpt, maybe even a slightly bulked out waistcoat

What hopes have people got for future TARDIS sets?

    • The Outcast

      June 10th, 2020 - 8:02am

Apparently 6 has been ruled out due to the cost of the paint apps. Atleast, I seem to remember that’s the case, could be wrong tho.

    • booboo

      June 10th, 2020 - 8:46am

that is what was said yes, although things have been ruled out before and have then have happened

    • DoctorRomanaTARDIS

      June 10th, 2020 - 11:11am

thats annoying, 6 is one of my favourites, fingers crossed it will eventually happen. Hopefully then 8 and TARDIS from the movie is the next logical choice, correct me if I’m wrong but the only change from existing parts the TARDIS would need are the windows, and the movie 8th doctor was only released in the 11 doctors set, so I would be happy with a straight re-release

    • Mark Belsom

      June 10th, 2020 - 11:12am

We were also told no dalek sets a while back. Lol. A 6th regen tardis set would be nice e.

    • booboo

      June 10th, 2020 - 2:02pm

yes, and i don’t think we can assume we know about everything due this year either at this moment in time.

    • davidinthetv

      June 10th, 2020 - 12:48pm

      I’d love to see:
12th Doc with waistcoat and velvet jacket & Clara Memorial TARDIS
      Ruth Doctor & her TARDIS

i know it wasn’t part of the q haha, but also 3 packs I’d love to see:
Sacha Master, New Cyberman, Lone Cyberman
      Kate Stewart, Osgood, Modern Zygon
5th Doc in Hat, Tegan (not hostess outfit), Turlough
      Nyssa, Adric, Ainley Master
Older Jo Grant, Older Ace, Sarah Jane (Stolen Earth)
Simm Master (Doctor Falls), 2013 Cyberman, Nardole
12th Doctor (Twice Upon a Time), Jodie Regenerated, David O’Bradley 1st Doctor
War Master, TV Movie Master, Alex Maqueen Master
      General, Time Lord Soldier, Ohilia

      Before anyone says , i know i’m dreaming 😛

    • Rich

      June 10th, 2020 - 1:57pm

I’d really love them to do black and white sets for the 60s stuff. Like a monster set, featuring, ice warrior, cyberman, Dalek, maybe a 1st or 2nd Doctor with TARDIS. Easy repaints that would sell pretty well I think

    • JL

      June 10th, 2020 - 2:56pm

I think a sensorite and voord are achievable using an axon body with both new head sculpts and new lower leg sculpts

    • Steve

      June 11th, 2020 - 9:15am

      I want to see a
      1st Doctor & TARDIS
      War Doctor & TARDIS
      Ninth Doctor & TARDIS 🙂

Also, in terms of three figure sets I would like to see a Third Doctor & two Sea Devils sets and a 1st Doctor & two Mondas Cyberman!

    • Bob James

      June 11th, 2020 - 4:45pm

A “Night Of The Doctor” Eighth Doctor with battered Tardis! If they think interest would warrant this, it could easily be done with a Tardis repaint.

    • Bob James

      June 11th, 2020 - 5:38pm

And yes davidinthetv, a Simm Master (Doctor Falls), 2013 Cyberman, Nardole set would be awesome as well!

    • David V

      June 13th, 2020 - 2:53am

i don’t think its been delayed, i think that’s when some sets were always due.

    • Ian

      June 5th, 2020 - 9:47am

B&M have delayed the sets. Guess it makes sense as the lockdown maybe eased off further by then.

    • booboo

      June 5th, 2020 - 9:54am

i think June was always a bit optimistic to be honest, not even sure all will arrive at once either.

    June 4th, 2020 - 5:55pm

No new sets in B and M in Connswater in Belfast Today (as of 16:00 on Thursday 4th June)- still 2 of each Dalek and Doctor set and 2 Peladon 3rd Doctor and TARDIS sets plus various Sontaran and Silver Nemesis sets from last year.

    • Ian

      June 5th, 2020 - 3:38pm

Originally was planned for end of April. Its more of when B&M put them on them out. Hence why they are saying July.

    • booboo

      June 4th, 2020 - 5:59pm

already done but minus 1 set for some reason, probably been edited and waiting for BBC approval if its needed

  • Anonymous

    June 4th, 2020 - 11:57am

None of the new sets in any B&M’s in Leicester although they probably won’t arrive until late June. Plenty of older sets from around 2 years ago along with a couple of Silver Nemesis sets, plenary of The Two Doctors sets and many Big Finish Doctor + Dalek sets in the B&M in Market Harborough. They had 1 Sontarons set but someone had broken the packaging and taken one of the figures otherwise I would have bought that as I have been searching for it since last year.

    • Looking for Harry

Let me guess they took the Harry Sullivan figure?

  • Grant

    June 4th, 2020 - 8:55am

Still quite a few 3rd Dr & Tardis sets and Dalek packs in B&M Liskeard, Cornwall store, so don’t think any new packs will arrive before end of June earliest. Will keep checking though and update if changes.

    B & M Broadstairs, Kent…
No new sets in my local store today. However, they did have 5 (now 4, because I bought one) The Monster of Peladon 3rd Doctor & TARDIS sets…
    Rather chuffed about that.

    • booboo

      June 1st, 2020 - 12:13pm

doubt it, some people might from other sources.

  • JL

    June 1st, 2020 - 3:02am

sorry to ask more questions, but do you ever think that the success of the B&M line will justify a new sculpted action figure for the classic line, say a 3 pack with just 3 1970 silurians for army building or wheel in space cybermen, or even 2 of them and package them with a kitbashed Liz Shaw and Zoe respectively?

    • Spacewarp

      June 3rd, 2020 - 4:27pm

I’ve always thought it was a combination of popularity of the characters (i.e. how many people will buy them), licensing deals with the BBC for using designs of a “monster” (hate that word), or permission from the actor, so a Jamie and a Zoe (mini-skirt or sparkly jumpsuit, you take your pick) would be highly unlikely. But then up until this was announced I’d have have never thought we’d see Romana or 70s version Sarah Jane, and I’d certainly never have expected Yates and Benton, or even Harry Sullivan! If B&M are expanding availability to the US (so they must have a US outlet), then they’re obviously popular, so who knows what the future may hold? I’m surprised we haven’t seen a reissue of the Mondasian Cybermen, but then they are a rather complicated model.

Not sure if this is relevant, but another stock of the last run of Dalek packs has just appeared on the shelves of Jarrow B&M. Dont know of it was a fresh delivery or if they’ve been sat on a shelf in the stock room but there was two of each set about an hour ago. Hope this is useful.

  • Stormfly79

    May 31st, 2020 - 12:51am

Will the Dalek sets be in limited quantity like the last ones?

  • JL

    May 30th, 2020 - 4:09pm

how much does it cost for character to do smaller figures of limited articulation, say a chumbley, quark, kroton or pting? Would any of these be achievable on a B&M set budget if they have minor articulation or is the cost of an entirely new sculpt too much?

  • JL

    May 29th, 2020 - 9:30pm

with the new head sculpts idea (perhaps with new lower leg sculpts) they could use the axon man body for a voord and a sensorite figure and then retool the Mondasian cyberman chest and with a new headsculpt create a 2017 Mondasian for an enemies of the first doctor set… (technically there were there in twice upon a time deleted scenes)
then they could potentially do a 5th doctor companions set using a Delgado body for adric, a claws of axos jo for Tegan’s hostess outfit and a leela figure for a terminus nyssa or use a clara figure for a rough terminus figure, turlough using a suited primeval figure
1st doctor – use an invasion of the bane sarah jane for a rough Barbara, a suited figure for Ian, could perhaps do a rough susan similar to her eaglemoss figurine using a bill figure (which in itself is a roughly accurate reuse of a primeval figure), or use a coatless ace for a toymaker Dodo and a mickey smith for a steven also for a toymaker look or perhaps a tenth planet ben, polly could be done using a jo grant figure as could vicki from the rescue (roughly)
2nd doctor – Victoria could use a Gelth body painted white, while Zoe’s jumpsuit could use the original Martha figure, all painted one colour, not sure how to approach Jamie, but his popularity could warrant a standalone release with new sculpting for a kilt
3rd doctor – liz shaw from silurians using a jo grant again
7th doctor – use a coated ace for a mel from the beginning of delta and the bannermen in her dress
8th doctor – lucy using peri figure, liv using series 2 rose figure
12th doctor – under the lake clara using original figure and shorter hair head sculpt (never got an accurate 5 inch clara that wasn’t oswin), Nardole perhaps using Winston or curator figures…
Also really really would like to see a daffodil man using a suit sculpt and new head and a whisperman and dr simeon using a snowmen matt smith figure body, perhaps even a half face man using the same body… (just to bump up the figures from 2013 onwards) and a kerblam man using a suited figure of some description even if they paint on the pockets like they’re doing on the romana figure

    • JL

      May 30th, 2020 - 10:04am

Suppose they could use a Helen cutter figure for a mel figure tbh

    • JL

      May 30th, 2020 - 10:12am

Could they perhaps also do a really rough approximation to a haemovore perhaps by using the war doctor body…
Varl could go alongside Stike very nicely also

I think rather than ring around and waste petrol, I shall just visit the store that got them all in for us last year and had plenty of stock and ask them to put them aside. I,m not sure if they ring back but i can request it.

Does anyone know when these will be hitting shelves as ‘coming in June’ is a bit loose. Do they mean from the 1st of June or later?

It can be hit and miss with B&M. Some stores will get them in pretty early (wouldn’t be surprised with the first few days of June), but others will take several weeks until they appear. In any other year I’d recommend driving around a few local ones but obviously not appropriate right now.

the vast majority of stores got them over a 3 day period last time.

My gut feeling is you wont see these until very late June or even July.

You can no longer phone stores to check stock, at least at the moment and the app is variable as to the situation of the shop floor.

because of that there is probably going to be a lot more driving around than last time.

For me you never were able to phone my local. Well, you were, but they would say, “Oh, we’re not ever getting that product in”, then they would get them in. I almost missed out on the “Robot” TARDIS because of me phoning people for weeks to see if it was there, only for them to say no, while they were being sold. Thank God I got the last one. My advice is to go there and check for yourself for future releases.
