August 2nd, 2020 - 8:46pmThe only thing wrong with this figure that makes it look cartoonish is they’ve painted the eyes too big.
Trust me,
If your any good at painting, get out a couple of tins of humbrol. Paint all of both eyes white then when you add the brown pupils make sure there alot smaller than Harrops 1st attempt
You won’t believe the difference from cartoon version to a more realistic portrait.

August 2nd, 2020 - 8:55pmLet me know how it turns out if anybody gives it ago?
I’ve read alot of comments on here how The Robert Harrop Dr who’s are not for them there cartoonish or an acquired taste.
But the sculpting on these are very good, it’s the painting on many collectibles that makes or breaks the product.

August 3rd, 2020 - 1:29pmYes Boo Boo, I see your point. But I still stand by my point that the sculpts are very good. It’s the paintwork that lets the Drs portraits down not the sculpts.

January 7th, 2021 - 7:32pmSince I’ve got hold of some acrylics to paint my Kandyman figure, I’m going to have a go at the Robert Harrops David Tenant, figurines eyes and Tom Bakers mouth.
Hopefully they turn out well. (Fingers crossed).

December 28th, 2019 - 3:58pmPoor David Tennant how why this monstrosity approved, his mouth looks like it’s running away from his face i don’t blame it.

June 27th, 2016 - 5:24pmI so want to like these figures – but most of the doctors likenesses are poor – the tardis looks great – and just about everything else does too, maybe I’m too fussy about the Doctors 🙁

June 27th, 2016 - 5:50pmHarrops tend you use their own “style” which isn’t to everyone’s liking admittedly
Coleman
August 2nd, 2020 - 10:17pmIt’s not there “own style” BooBoo.
There sculpts are very good. It’s just whoever paints them is not a portrait artist.
Say, If they used one of the Japanese portrait artists who paint for hot toys, there’s no reason these couldn’t be that good, because the sculpt is already there
Around 8 inches tall the face is large enough for all the detail to be added and make it on par with HOT TOYS.
Plus a good portrait artist would still churn these out at the same speed as before so not adding to cost.

August 3rd, 2020 - 9:11amgoing to have to disagree with you there, Hot toys, Character, Eaglemoss and Big Cheif use computer cads, sometime using scans of the face from the actual person to get as near as 100% likeness as they can.
Harrops hand sculpt from pictures in the style of the artist, I have all there figures here and i don’t see any “hot toys” standard under there, i dont think there is supposed to be.

August 3rd, 2020 - 1:41pmYes Boo Boo, I see your point. But I still stand by what I said that the sculpts are very good it’s the paintwork on the Drs portraits letting them down.

June 24th, 2016 - 6:47pmI cant stand Tennant’s portrayal at all but quite like this figure – so well done to Harrops on making a figure I think fits in well with the others in the set…..
Exterminator
June 24th, 2016 - 4:36pmOh, is this from the episode where the tenth doctor was a teenage boy? Lol
Exterminator
June 24th, 2016 - 4:37pmI like it though, it’s got a sort of anime feel about it.
AngryDrashig
June 24th, 2016 - 6:48pmOr maybe its a representation of Tennants 35 year old Doctor ‘acting’ like a teenager……
KEVIN BUNKER
June 24th, 2016 - 4:23pmIt seems to have lost it’s likeness since being painted, the only one that I found a bit disappointing though out of the new figurines, still going to get it of course as the other doctors looked better in hand. 🙂

August 2nd, 2020 - 9:02pmIt as lost its likeness since the painting as you’ve said. The sculpts are excellent though its the painting that is letting them down.
