Character Options announces new Doctor Who lines planned for B&M Stores
New Malden, London 11th June 2019
Character Options is delighted to announce a new series of exclusive Doctor Who toys that will be available later this summer from local B&M stores (UK variety retailer). Full details of the product line-up (with images) will be revealed in the coming weeks but here’s a small taster of what will be available.
Fans of the Doctor’s Sonic Screwdrivers will be able to get their hands on a heritage set of three popular incarnations.. The new blister-pack series will include electronic versions, inspired by the 50th anniversary episode, of the Tenth, Eleventh and War Doctor’s sonics.
For action figure fans,Character Options presents a set of three unique Doctor & Dalek Twin Packs, inspired by the Doctor Who audio series from Big Finish. This includes a brand new take on the Eighth Doctor, plus the Dalek Interrogator Prime, as featured in Big Finish audio book story In the Garden of Death. The two additional Doctor and Daleks sets to be released from this range will feature the Seventh and War Doctors respectively.
This year there will be not one, but two new TARDIS & Doctor sets released, each with a completely new take on both the Doctor and the blue box, inspired by adventures spanning the 1970s and 1980s.
To complete the summer line-up there are three brand new collector sets with a range of three figures in each, inspired by the Classic adventures of the Second, Fourth, Sixth and Seventh Doctors.
Al Dewar, Creative Director at Character Options commented: “We are delighted to announce this first taster of what’s to come from our B&M stores Doctor Who toy range. To reveal the visuals of these brand new products, we plan to do a full unveiling live, which will take place ‘unboxing style’ on Character Options’ own Youtube channel in July; details of the time and date will be announced.”

June 11th, 2019 - 1:44pmI think the Dalek in the War Doctor Pack will be the Time Controller Dalek from the War Doctor audios! That’s a repaint of The Red Dalek Supreme after all!

• I’m hoping for Second Doctor (in Duffle Coat praying), Yeti (praying but not likely), Ice Warrior (presumably), Cyberman (presumably) or Jamie but again VERY not likely. (A combination of 3)
• Fourth Doctor, Ainley Master, Classic Sontaran is what I’m hoping for and pretty easy to do
• I think 6 and 7 will be in one set, probs with Peri but dont want another Peri, or Cyberman maybe? As much as I love them I can’t see either 6 or 7 leading a 3 pack, the average Joe Blogs isn’t interested in them enough. I think putting the two together would sell far more 🙂

June 12th, 2019 - 9:06amThat as the Third Doctor would say “Arrant nonsense”, about the Ainley Master. Having spoken to Al Dewar he has said that ‘it’s not factually true to say Character Options can’t make another Ainley Master Figure because the estate has/had refused. The first 80’s Master head sculpt was created post his passing and approvals were carried out via the BBC.
There were no issues at that point so it’s hard to believe there would be any issues were we to create a further sculpt. That said it would only be further body/costume variants which would need to be created not a new head/face likeness.

However a band new face sculpt would need approval again.

2 doctors set – grey haired 2nd doctor, regular 6th doctor, caves of androzani peri repainted in the two doctor’s outfit.
7th doctor set – 7th doctor in cream jacket with smiley hatted head, silver nemesis cyber man and master from survival ( praying for the last one, if not ace from greatest show in galaxy )

CO could then simply use the Davros Emporer Dalek figure from Remembrance as a starting point. Add on the eye stalk and other bits and a repaint?
I need these sets as Daleks are my main Dr.Who fetish.

This is supposed to be during the 8th Doctor’s run, so it will likely be based on the Time War Dalek, or the Resurrection-style Dalek

June 11th, 2019 - 3:28pmIf it was going to be the leather jacket version they would have said that the figure was from a Dark Eyes or Ravenous story however they are clearly indicating it’s from the “Garden of Death” – the figure could be a straight up reissue of the NOTD version, a creative interpretation repaint of that version or as others are saying him wearing a orange jumpsuit as showcased on the cover for that story.

June 11th, 2019 - 11:38amI’m very happy with what I’ve heard so far! But I will say that I hope for future releases that it’s a lot more 50/50 with Classic and New! Doesn’t seem to have any feature of New Series in this selection which is a shame!
Still extremely excited with what’s been teased especially the 2 packs!

June 11th, 2019 - 11:37amSomething makes me think that the Tardis sets will be the 5th Dr (many a strong muttering about this) and maybe another 3rd Dr one as Al seemed to post quite a few pictures with the Purple jacket 3rd Dr at the same time he posted many other figure that appear to be in these sets. Plus isn’t that 3rd Dr deemed rare?

As seen in ‘Evil of the Daleks’ , ‘The Abominable Snowmen’ and ‘The Enemy of the World’. That’s what I’d like to see released.

The Second and Sixth Doctors are probably in the same three pack with a classic Sontaran and it’ll be a “The Two Doctors” set guessing by one tweet. And then the Seventh Doctor one will hopefully have a variant of Ace and maybe a Silver Nemesis Cyberman or maybe just a reissue of the Ace from Silver Nemesis to make a Silver Nemesis set? The Fourth Doctor will be the Season 15 variant on Al’s twitter but who know what it’ll be with!
