Harrops Line-up in 2020 – Aggedor
From their facebook page
Our Aggedor figurine from The Curse of Peladon was due to be released in April, but for obvious reasons this has now been delayed, hopefully only until the end of May.
However, just to whet your appetites here is the first image i’ve released of our fully completed and painted Aggedor the Royal Beast of Peladon!
Previous posts:
Sculpts of Aggedor the Royal Beast of Peladon and Lord Izlyr the Ice Warrior, both taken from 1972’s ‘The Curse of Peladon’a and finished Gravis which should be up for order on Friday 28th February.
In response to comments the antennae have now been straightened. The new image is directly below with the original image below that.

April 29th, 2020 - 2:40pmThat Gravis has the same look as me after 5 weeks of lockdown

April 29th, 2020 - 1:29pmI wasn,t that happy with the eaglemoss version but wanted some version of aggedor. Also Eaglemoss should really have done theirs on a smaller scale. This has better detail. the glistening nostrils and the wet open mouth. The fur does makes it look like hes just stepped from the bath, so not perfect but the best aggedor to date what i know of.

May 2nd, 2020 - 10:07amAggedor was one of my favourites as a nipper! I agree with you about the Eaglemoss version, really looked little like the TV version and should have been a regular release. I can see they were trying to make it less of a man in a furry suit but for me it didn’t quite work.
This is a much, much nicer version and far closer to the character seen in the two Peladon stories in spite of the rather stylised fur and clawed feet. I don’t collect all of these but this one definitely. Lovely detail on the head in particular.
I think (so far) the best Aggedor figure was the one that was part of the unofficial Mini Terror HUD series released back in the 90’s. It’s practically in scale with the Eaglemoss figurines too! Worth tracking down but quite rare nowadays.
The Ergon
May 2nd, 2020 - 7:05pmI,m going to look that series up, i hadn,t heard of them. Having said that i strayed from the series merchandise during the late 1980s and 1990s. It was only when it came back in the 00s that it piqued my interest again when they started releasing classic alongside the new series stuff. I also think Eaglemoss should have scaled down The Wirrn as standard and released a Mega size version for those that wanted both. Apparently a Hartnell figurine is on the cards but as these tend to be more caricature, they don,t interest me, only the monsters, and as you say some of those can be stylised.
Doug Who
May 3rd, 2020 - 7:57pmI’m very fond of the Eaglemoss Wirrn figurine. I think they did a great job of it and it’s one of my favourites. I’m not really sure they could have made it any smaller because of the fragility of the antennae and legs.
Have to agree with you about the Harrop monsters. I get they have their house style for figurative likenesses but like you I’m not so fond of the Doctors.
I stumbled upon a wee Aggedor figure on Ebay quite a few years ago and that led to finding out about the Head Up Display (HUD) series of busts and figures. They were only ever mail order and sold at some conventions until the BBC (I think) put a stop to them. Because they’re quite sought after they can be expensive now but the Aggedor one I’ve seen a few times since. I’d post a picture if I could.

May 5th, 2020 - 1:36pmDo you know what, I was thinking why doesnt some company bring out Doctor Who shaker maker mould sets? They used to do them for Disney Characters and such in the 1970s and then paint them when they were solidified.
booboo
May 5th, 2020 - 1:40pmthey did but they did not sell well even in the hay day of merchandise, toys r us were trying to sell them off for ages
The Ergon
May 5th, 2020 - 2:53pmI wasn,t aware they had brought them back. It was just an idea as i was thinking of mould casting some figurines of my own, with an attempt at ‘The Kandyman’ and lesser popular monsters specifically in mind.
Doug Who
May 6th, 2020 - 3:00pmI remember the new series ‘Shaker Maker’ sets among the huge range of merchandise in toys-r-us back in the days of those massive spectacular displays.
It was just amazing to see such attention paid to the show. Reminded me of the old John Menzies displays with mountains of Marx and Palitoy Daleks!
I’ve sculpted a few of my own busts in scale with the 90’s range including Alpha Centauri, the Collector and a Foamasi. Haven’t quite got round to mould casting…maybe a lockdown pastime!
The Ergon
February 27th, 2020 - 11:05pmIf anybody wants him. The Gravis is up for Preorder now.

February 20th, 2020 - 11:39pmReally disappointed with The Gravis, why have they given him those silly looking eyes & droopy eyelids?! He doesn’t look like that! Spoiled a perfectly nice figurine.
The Ergon
February 21st, 2020 - 9:19amHis eyelids were droopy looking. The problem for some were the antennae and thats been rectified.
The Ergon
February 18th, 2020 - 10:49amI just contacted Harrops and it is the curly antennae. The woman told me it represents certain scenes where the antennae curls, but Both? In the sculpting pictures behind you can see one straight and one curling. Might have to rewatch Frontios.
The Ergon
February 19th, 2020 - 12:27amThey should have kept the antennae pointed or straight up. They look like painted coat hooks. I,m having doubts.
Nick
February 19th, 2020 - 12:51amI agree with you Ergon – now I have seen the finished version – I am not convinced either. Shame – the original photo of the sculpt looked promising. Nevermind…
Negative Matter
February 19th, 2020 - 5:41pmThe antennae have now been straightened in response to comments on the Harrops facebook forum. Personally I think it looks a lot better.
The Ergon
February 19th, 2020 - 7:20pmI,m glad theres been a response and i’m glad they,ve reversed their decision. Its the figurine i,ve been most looking forward to since the announcement and was tentative, for the first time since i started collecting these, on whether to bother even purchasing. I want to see that New finished image up on screen now. Unique is one thing but i hate it when they stray too far from the original look.
The Ergon
February 17th, 2020 - 5:39pm225 pieces. How fast do you reckon they will go given its an original? The Aggedor figurine i will reserve judgement with. Getting the fur to look realistic must be difficult.
Doug Who
February 17th, 2020 - 4:42pmI don’t usually buy these as there’s just too much to collect just now but the Gravis may be an exception. What a really lovely sculpt and finish.
Mightily tempted by Aggedor too. He was always one of my favourites as a nipper and personally I found the Eaglemoss figurine of him to be a rare disappointment as it looked so unlike the character as it appeared on TV.
John Sissons
February 17th, 2020 - 5:47pmDo you think the antennae looks a bit too curled up ? They were alot straighter than that .
The Ergon
February 17th, 2020 - 6:50pmThe one hes sculpting are straight. Maybe there was a decision to curl them to prevent breakages but yes i think someone needs to adress this before they send these out.
Doug Who
February 17th, 2020 - 9:47pmHi John,
I hadn’t noticed the antennae until you mentioned it tbh. Perhaps they’re flexible to prevent breakages.
What I did notice was Lord Izlyr’s footwear and furry ankles. Maybe I’m wrong but didn’t he wear boots in ‘The Curse of Peladon’?
I’d really like them (and Eaglemoss) to do a Krarg from ‘Shada’.
The Ergon
January 30th, 2020 - 11:16pmJust ordered mine. Its up.
The Silent Silent
January 25th, 2020 - 6:05pmI will certainly be purchasing a Sycorax Leader. Love it 🙂
Judooning
January 24th, 2020 - 4:15pmI know we can pre-order from the 31st of this month but do we know when the actual release date for this is? Just thinking of funds because theres a lot of Doctor who merch coming out at the moment that I want.
booboo
January 24th, 2020 - 9:34pmlooking at what they have said they could dispatch quite quickly

January 24th, 2020 - 3:39pmIf you have a broken Tardis model, would a model Gravis be able to put it back together?
Just asking for a friend.

January 24th, 2020 - 9:41pmIf you gave him some super glue I bet he would 😛

January 24th, 2020 - 3:23pmI’ve only got the special weapons Dalek from Harrops, but think this will become my second addition! Looks fantastic and a nostalgic figure for me from my childhood series.
Negative Matter
January 24th, 2020 - 2:48pm2 further figures to be reveled soon.
The Ergon
January 29th, 2020 - 2:44pmIsn,t one The terileptil leader?
Mr P
January 30th, 2020 - 6:49pmIt’s been said on one of Robert Harrop’s Facebook post that the 2 figures to be revealed are from the same episode and a Terileptil was mentioned before, so I would guess it would be that and possibly the Robot from that episode.
The Ergon
January 30th, 2020 - 8:00pmThe jewelled robot i would love to have. Also i wonder if Harrops could start the trend after the ‘Tomb ‘ figurines to do as many models from one story in succession.
Mr P
January 30th, 2020 - 8:25pmGiven that they usually release 5/6 figures per year, they could easily do 4 figures from one story then a doctor or random monster & xmas special piece too. Personally I’m hoping they’ll do the delegates from The Daleks Master Plan/Mission to the Unknown within the next few years as they seem to get very few merchandise releases and some of the designs are incredible!
Negative Matter
January 24th, 2020 - 2:46pm2 further figures to be revealed soon.
The Ergon
January 24th, 2020 - 1:24pmI,ve been on everyday wondering when it would be up for preorder. Although initially i was n,t going to rush in as i don,t believe there would be the mad rush to get this as much as The gravis. So i could have waited for that, before deciding to get both. Seeing it now in all its colourful glory i,m very impressed which means now my mind is changed and 31st January it is. I can,t resist it.
booboo
January 24th, 2020 - 1:28pmits also only 200 again
The Ergon
January 24th, 2020 - 1:38pmThat only makes it more imperative to get this then. Is this something to do with the fact that they increased the numbers because enough couldn,t get The Omega figurine but with the recent slow response with the Cyber figurines decided to drop numbers again?
booboo
January 24th, 2020 - 1:45pmpossibly because they think new series wont see quite as well i would imagine, not so sure though this looks a cracking figure
The Ergon
January 24th, 2020 - 1:51pmI really like it. It is after all as you have said their own unique style of doing these. Classics also have had problems shifting.
The Ergon
January 24th, 2020 - 1:54pmThe Doctor figures for example are a caricature too far and the reason i don,t buy them. The enemies for the most part have been excellent.
Thetruth
December 5th, 2019 - 12:46pmSo queue Eaglemoss version in 2020 then
Neil
January 28th, 2020 - 6:13pm1) You mean cue
2) We did the Sycorax already
3) I keep forgetting about the Gravis. Why oh why do I keep forgetting about the Gravis? Anybody know?
Negative Matter
February 21st, 2020 - 3:57pmBecause youre obsessed with nu-who and the 13th Doctor ?

December 3rd, 2019 - 10:55pmIt would be cool to see these in the eaglemoss figurine collection
The Flying Shark
December 4th, 2019 - 7:45amWould love the Tractator! Not sure about the Leader as we already have a standard Sycorax and would rather have the slot be filled by a completely new figure, not a variant, although I wouldn’t be opposed to it being released as a special.
The Ergon
January 29th, 2020 - 5:57pmOnly 200 flying shark. I,m wondering about the cost. If the staff is pewter are we looking at this years £90er.
Basil Funkenstein
January 29th, 2020 - 7:29pmFlying Shark, it was actually the Sycorax Leader that was released in the Eaglemoss collection not a standard Sycorax.

December 3rd, 2019 - 9:32pmI hope those antennae are going to be well reinforced

December 3rd, 2019 - 2:17pmyou will need to be quick to order the Tractator in think!
The Ergon
December 3rd, 2019 - 5:13pmIts magnificent and my order will be in as soon as it goes up no fear about that. Is The terileptil leader after this?
