January 18th, 2014 - 1:09amDoes anybody know when/where US fans can get these?

January 17th, 2014 - 11:37pmI’m afraid I’m confused again. How at all are these different from the ones currently on sale on the BBC Shop website and in places like the Stamp Centre? Cheers.
Balakin
January 18th, 2014 - 10:55amThe 10th sonic based on this picture is not different from previous releases (maybe they fixed the soundchip because the 2013 release contained 4 sound effects, just like all the other 2013 releases, and that’s wrong).
The 11th sonic is a cheaper version of the previous toys, it can not extend.
The 5th and 8th sonics were never released before, althought the 5th sonic is just a repaint of the 4th one, but the 8th sonic is different(the design is similar but not the same and functions differently, with a button instead of pulling down).

January 18th, 2014 - 12:15pmThanks! You really know your stuff!!

January 17th, 2014 - 7:08pmWill the eleventh doctor’s screwdriver be spring loaded? and if it is can it activate whilst being in open mode?
Anonymous
January 18th, 2014 - 1:08amI heard it was fixed version, so It can’t spring up.
smudgelad99
January 18th, 2014 - 9:03pmit will be the version from the customize your own sonic screwdriver set but glued together

January 17th, 2014 - 5:12pmPicked up a 8th Doctor screwdriver this afternoon from FP, very nice, would have picked up the 5th Doctor one too but there wasn’t any in stock, seems these have sold really well already and they are just out!
Mattisthedoctor
January 17th, 2014 - 9:54pmWhat is the size comparison to the fourth doctor sonic
NCC1701D
January 17th, 2014 - 4:48pmForbidden Planet now have them in store, well they do in Nottingham anyway. I immediately bought the 5th and 8th Doctor’s Sonics and can confirm that they are both fitted with the 11th Doctor’s Sonic sound chip and the 8th Doctor’s does have a button on it instead of a pull down collar, although the top isn’t spring loaded like it is in the movie.
Balakin
January 17th, 2014 - 6:40pmJust what I expected! Thanks for the info. Hope my friend in Nottingham had the chance today to stop by at FP.
Balakin
January 17th, 2014 - 9:17pmWell, my friend was in the Nottingham FP at 5pm and the girl behind the counter didn’t know what my friend was talking about. Strange…
Mattisthedoctor
January 17th, 2014 - 9:53pmso just the two sounds instead of the 4 like the third and fourth re-releases and war doctor?
NCC1701D
January 17th, 2014 - 10:56pmFirstly, Balakin, there was loads of them on the shelf with the rest of the Dr. Who stuff, I can’t imagine they’d all have gone a matter of hours after I was there. Secondly, Mattisthedoctor, the third and fourth doctor sonics have 2 sounds the same as the 10th doctor’s sonic, the war doctor’s sonic has 4 new sounds and the 5th and 8th doctor’s sonics have the same 4 sounds as the 11th doctor’s sonic.
Mattisthedoctor
January 18th, 2014 - 8:59am@NCC1701D ok thanks, I heard that the fourth and third re-releases had the same four as the war doctor but I have the original releases and they have just the two, Is the fifth doctor literally just a fourth doctor repaint?
NCC1701D
January 18th, 2014 - 12:19pmMattisthedoctor, yes the 5th Doctor’s screwdriver is just a repaint of the 4th Doctor’s (just as the real one is), but I think the new sound chip makes it worth it, and I personally really like the paint job, even though it is similar to the 4th Doctors.

January 18th, 2014 - 2:55pmAt the end of the day, it’s one for the collection 😀

January 16th, 2014 - 12:25pmI can understand how this was done. The Tenth’s was a high selling one so it was chosen to re-release it again. Sometimes items from one wave are brought into another. The Eleventh’s is going to get new classic packaging as Matt Smith has finished, so it’s introduced to the wave. If the Twelfth’s is still the same model then there will be no need to have a new Twelfth Doctor packaging as the green clawed version will be associated with the Eleventh’s. It may have also been too difficult at this point to create any new sonics like the 2nd Doctor
David FutureDoctor
January 16th, 2014 - 8:20amI’m guessing the tenth Doctor one will be the blue version with the same sounds as the other Doctors sonic screwdriver…there was a bit of a mix up on wave 1 with people getting different ones with different features. Then again, this time it could be passed off as the ninth Doctors
Mattisthedoctor
January 15th, 2014 - 10:33pmWe definitely need to see a re-release of the sonic lipstick, the sonic lance is also a definite, the eighth doctor sonic would be nice to see as well, I thought of something else though, What about releasing not seen in series screwdrivers like the trans temporal and the two from the PYOS set, alas solid pieces as opposed to the mix and match options
Mattisthedoctor
January 15th, 2014 - 10:33pmEighth doctor sonic from the audios I mean

January 15th, 2014 - 4:08pmI’m glad that we are getting an official Eighth Doctor sonic. Maybe one day we will get a replica of the Dark Eyes sonic. I doubt it, but you never know.

January 15th, 2014 - 2:38pmDoctor who toys are so hard to find in America. I don’t know if its hard to find because of where I live or because its uncommon in America. The only place I could find doctor who toys is at Barnes and noble. I couldn’t even find wave 1 of the screwdrivers so I will have to order these on amazon for an extremely high price. Can I order these on forbidden planet or is it only in the uk? If so can I pay in US dollars?
Balakin
January 15th, 2014 - 3:15pmI’m not from the US but I’m pretty sure you can find some in Toys R US.
Usually you can order them from Entertainment Earth or Thinkgeek, but there are Frobidden Planets in the US too (Check the link in the description above).
booboo
January 15th, 2014 - 3:17pmwhona are very good as well
we live in the UK but have to order everything on-line as there is no where for miles that sells anything

January 15th, 2014 - 5:19pmMy toys r us only has the 10th doctor figure and the 11th sonic screwdriver. Thanks for the information anyway

January 16th, 2014 - 11:45pmHastings branded themselves America’s “official Doctor Who retailer” or something like that a year or two ago, and their website updates their stock sporadically (no sign of the 3.75″ figures, but they do have the TARDIS!). I’ve gotten some very good deals there from time to time, and even my rural store keeps some stock on hand.

January 15th, 2014 - 6:28amNow we need the second doctor’s sonic:

January 14th, 2014 - 11:22pmNext time I think we should have:
2nd Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver
6th Doctor’s Sonic Lance
Sonic Lipstick
Eleventh Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver which lights up red from Cold War.
TheRedCreeperTRC
January 15th, 2014 - 3:39pmYes! I’ve always wanted the second doc’s and the sonic lance! The cold war red light version would be awesome as hell!
Michael
January 15th, 2014 - 9:15pmI’d change the Matt Smith sonic from your list and replace it with Chris’ because that is extremely rare to find.
I Froze Gallifrey
January 15th, 2014 - 9:26pmChris’s is just the same as David’s with a yellow handle, so I feel I have to disagree there.
the astronaut of death
January 16th, 2014 - 6:53amno Michael is right the colour of the casting was a bit different from tennats making it good for collectors 🙂
Anonymous
January 16th, 2014 - 7:07amyes Michael is right
I Froze Gallifrey
January 16th, 2014 - 7:28amWouldn’t you rather have a new variant? I for one definitely would, like I said, I have to disagree there. Plus, I’m a collector who doesn’t have Chris’s sonic, and I’d definitely prefer a new 11th doctors sonic variant, so I must disagree with both of you.
Anonymous
January 16th, 2014 - 7:30ambut what im saying Is kind of fact
I Froze Gallifrey
January 16th, 2014 - 7:37amBut what I’m saying is that I don’t want another 2005 Sonic Screwdriver, look at these comments and you’ll see that people are sick of the mould, I certainly am, so I must disagree with you. And astronaut of death, that’s not what Michael said at all, what he said was that Chris’s sonic is hard to find, not that it was different to David’s
the astronaut of death
January 16th, 2014 - 8:18ambut you said “Chris’s is just the same as David’s with a yellow handle2
and I pointed out that they are different
p.s I like when people say my name in comments 🙂

the astronaut of death
January 16th, 2014 - 4:38pmyes they are different and collectors would want both so actually it is not a bad idea to bring out another one as they are a bit rare now
so good
I Froze Gallifrey
January 16th, 2014 - 6:38pmI’m a collector, and I don’t need both.
Anonymous
January 16th, 2014 - 9:44pmInstead of 11 again id have sonic blaster
I Froze Gallifrey
January 16th, 2014 - 10:03pmDo you really think they’ll make one? Because I certainly don’t.

January 14th, 2014 - 8:37pmI did hear something about CO Making the 6th doctor’s Sonic Lance but it was not on the internet so don’t start saying Link? LiNk? LINK!?

January 14th, 2014 - 8:28pmMr.Fusion, who works at CO, has confirmed this:
“The Eighth’s docs sonic has a rectangular button incorporated into the gold coloured band. The shaft of the sonic itself is fixed so doesn’t pull down.
The 11 is a new mould which means it is a fixed, closed version of the sonic. A “stunt” version if you will.”
Balakin
January 14th, 2014 - 8:39pmGood news about the 8th sonic. Thanks!

January 14th, 2014 - 9:02pmHaha I just saw that he had answered my questions and came to post that myself.
Mattisthedoctor
January 14th, 2014 - 10:26pmwhat about the fifth doctor sonic what’s it’s mechanism?
CG
January 15th, 2014 - 1:58amI think the 5th would be pull down as the 3rd and 4th was that.
Balakin
January 15th, 2014 - 10:13amThe 5th is clearly just a repaint of the 4th (as was the original prop) so I think it will work the same way.
Mattisthedoctor
January 15th, 2014 - 10:29pmOkey dokey

January 14th, 2014 - 6:18pmhi love drwho is so cool it is the 12th doctor now
Gallifrey Falls No More
January 14th, 2014 - 9:37pmYes, lots of people here like doctor who and there is still a huge debate whether Peter Capaldi is the 13th or 14th incarnation.
He is the 14th regeneration
He is the 13th body
He is the 12th doctor
AlphaOmega
January 14th, 2014 - 5:59pmWith the past ones, I can’t help noticing that they’re always significantly bigger than the models in the show/movie…

Dalek the Supreme
January 14th, 2014 - 2:06pmI already have the Eleventh Doctor’s and my brother has the Ninth/Tenth Doctor’s, but the others look interesting too.
Mattisthedoctor
January 14th, 2014 - 1:49pmI can’t see a button on the eighth doctor screwdriver, I’d prefer it if it is a pull down control but i’ll get it all the same
Balakin
January 14th, 2014 - 3:04pmCheck the tv movie (McCoy uses it at the beginning) or the Night of the Doctor. It is never activated by pulling down.
Mattisthedoctor
January 14th, 2014 - 5:34pmok, will have another look, I just think it’ll be a bit boring if it is just one solid piece
Balakin
January 14th, 2014 - 6:37pmIf you look at it from a playing standpoint, yeah, it’s boring, but it’s more accurate if it works with a button. For me, the less accurate the toy is the less I want to play with it.
That said, if it was collapsible (as you can see at the beginning ot the tv movie) that would be the best, but I highly doubt it will be.
Mattisthedoctor
January 14th, 2014 - 10:28pmMeh I’m just thinking about young kids that my see it, but yeah I can agree that accuracy is better
Mattisthedoctor
January 14th, 2014 - 10:30pm*may see it
Anon
January 14th, 2014 - 11:43amWell, all 4 are in the FP top five, with 11 at no 1.
So that disproves the theory that no one wants an 10 or 11 sonic.
AlphaOmega
January 14th, 2014 - 10:56amOooh! Eighth Doctor version :3
Madmanwithabox
January 14th, 2014 - 8:11amHow us this wave dissapointing?! Last time we had 4 old sonics which were rereleased, this wave has 2 new sonics. Yes we have another 10 and 11 but if you already have them, they’re are others (including me) who don’t, in short no likey? Don’t buy it then.
