Doctor Who: Wheel of Ice BBC Books

Doctor Who: Wheel of Ice

Doctor Who: Wheel of Ice by Stephen Baxter is due for release from BBC Books on 02/08/2012.

The Wheel of Ice: a ring of ice and steel turning around a moon of Saturn, home to a colony mining minerals for a resource-hungry future Earth.

Aboard the Wheel the Second Doctor, Jamie and Zoe find a critical situation – and three strangers who have just turned up out of nowhere look like prime candidates to be accused of sabotage…

The Doctor finds himself caught up in a mystery that goes right back to the creation of the solar system.

A thrilling, all-new adventure featuring the Second Doctor, as played by Patrick Troughton in the legendary, classic series from BBC Television.

I got the paperback version of this book today along with the Sixth Doctor book Instruments of Darkness. I also got lots of other things, and I met the Chuckle Brothers today too!

It’s a single book, but there’s a few more of these books coming out in the next year or so. So in a sense its both.

I’m sure people probably won’t agree, but I’d like these to be in pretty much the same format as the BBC Books Past Doctor and Eighth Doctor books instead of hardback, as in hardback it would lose some of the continuity and would seem less like a series of books, just some one-offs.

But they haven’t said it is a series of books.

And it certainly wouldn’t matter if there was a new range with hardbacks, after all all the books would be hardbacks, it is a different range from the old ones after all (as this will likely contain the Ninth and Tenth Doctors as well).

I know, but it would seem more promising for the future if they were released like a series of books. One-offs seem a little too inconstant for me.

I thought it was an addition to the Past Doctor Adventures.

Not at all, it is a completely different range, wit hno connection to the PDAs other than it is based on Doctor Who.

It won’t even feature the same Doctors, chances are it will be everything up to and including Tennant now the Eleventh Doctor is “current”.

Finally at last there starting to make more classic series novels and it’s taken about seven years.

I hope they write another eighth doctor story, I really want to see a follow up to ‘The Gallifrey Chronicles’

      I hope they are not.

Too special, too promising to be in a NSA format.

I for one am very excited, especially following Shada.

Checked Amazon UK for Stephen Baxter’s WHEEL OF ICE & it is listed as an Audiobook only – I do hope this is a mistake on their part?

THE HARVEST OF TIME by Alaistair Reynolds with the 3rd. Doctor, Jo & The Master was due for 2013?

I would be more than happy to have both of these books in 2012 because both authors are excellent writers in themselves.
