Doctor Who The TV Movie 8th Doctor Audio CD

Available to order from www.amazon.co.uk

A brand new novelisation of the 1996 TV Movie featuring the Eighth Doctor.

‘Who am I…? WHO AM I?’

It’s December 1999, and strange things are happening as the new millennium nears. A British police box appears from nowhere in San Francisco’s Chinatown and the mysterious man inside it is shot down in the street. Despite the best efforts of Dr Grace Holloway, the man dies and another stranger appears, claiming to be the same person in a different body: a wanderer in time and space known only as the Doctor.

But the Doctor is not the only alien in San Francisco. His deadly adversary the Master is murdering his way through the city and has taken control of the TARDIS. The Master is desperate to take the Doctor’s newly regenerated body for himself, and if the Doctor does not capitulate, it will literally cost him the Earth… and every last life on it.

While I love Dan Starkey – it is a shame we don’t have Paul McGann reading this one 🙁

It’s only on the audio it says new. I’ll be surprised if Gary Russell has done a new one, it might refer to a new recording of the book by another reader. The book is now showing as 240 pages which is roughly the same as the original book once you add in the copyright pages and the adverts at the back.

It’s a reprint of the original novel but whether they are just using the original Paul mcgann reading from 1996 or have done a new version with a new reader I don’t know.

Doesn’t say that on the paperback. And why a new novel? What would be the point? There is no mention of it being new on the blurb for the paperback. Also if you look on other sights at the CD there is no mention of it being new. I think it’s a case of Amazon adding that line itself.

Gary Russell confirmed that whilst the majority of the novel is the same, it has been changed in some places and edited and tweaked. On top of that, the audiobook of the original novel was an abridged (heavily edited) version, while this would clearly be a full reading.of the novel proper.

Is this a rerelease of the original audio book but under the “target” banner?

The original CD is good but not worth a double dip

Well this would be a full reading of the novel, whilst the original CD was an abridged, heavily cut down, version of the novel.
