Doctor Who: The Drosten’s Curse (Hardback)

Isn’t life terrible? Isn’t it all going to end in tears? Won’t it be good to just give up and let something else run my mind, my life?

Something distinctly odd is going on in Arbroath. It could be to do with golfers being dragged down into the bunkers at the Fetch Brothers’ Golf Spa Hotel, never to be seen again. It might be related to the strange twin grandchildren of the equally strange Mrs Fetch – owner of the hotel and fascinated with octopuses. It could be the fact that people in the surrounding area suddenly know what others are thinking, without anyone saying a word.

Whatever it is, the Doctor is most at home when faced with the distinctly odd. With the help of Fetch Brothers’ Junior Receptionist Bryony, he’ll get to the bottom of things. Just so long as he does so in time to save Bryony from quite literally losing her mind, and the entire world from destruction.

Because something huge, ancient and alien lies hidden beneath the ground – and it’s starting to wake up…

I’d really like more info. The plot summary is the one for the Fourth Doctor book from last year’s monthly book range.

At the time Kennedy said she’d really like to expand that short story into a full novel if she got the chance, and a couple of months ago it was confirmed it was happening.

Presumably, The Drosten’s Curse is that novel, with the earlier short story adapted and folded into it as one of the chapters.

What I’ve gathered from GallifreyBase is it’s solo Fourth Doctor set after ‘The Deadly Assassin’.

I think I’m going to hold-off from buying until it’s out. I can then read reviews on how good/bad it is before I decide? Too much mis-information from Amazon & others on this. Usually I Pre-Order but the description is too uncertain. I bought the ’11 Doctors, 11 Stories’ when it first came out, then they had the temerity to re-release it again with a 12th Doctor story for a double-dip. If this is indeed the original novella expanded I don’t need to buy it again.

What’s strange is that it’s on the publishers own website you would have thought they would have made it clearer
