August 27th, 2015 - 12:56amI pre-subscribed a couple of months ago but the advert didn’t show the comics collection premium subscribers offer. Does anyone know if I will need to cancel my original subscription or will I be offered an ‘upgrade’? I’ve already noticed a direct debit set up from my bank account but nothing has been taken as yet.
booboo
August 27th, 2015 - 10:07ami would contact them to be sure to be honest on that one

August 29th, 2015 - 8:15pmThanks booboo. I received a ‘welcome’ email after our posts that confirmed after the first 4 issues I could upgrade my subscription to include the comics collection from issue 5. So all good!

August 26th, 2015 - 1:44pmThat’s is my issue at the moment is lack of space to put these collections in.
Between these awesome looking books and my Star Trek Starship collections, Dalek & Cybermen figure collections and Big Chief figure… space is running out.
Time will tell if I eventually invest in these as they would make an excellent accompaniment to my Doctor Who DVD collection.

August 25th, 2015 - 1:36pmthere is 1 thing u should ask yourself will they extend it to cover seasons 9 , 10 and maybe seasons 11 and 12? by 2018 if it is still going it might be on season 12 have u thought of that. Well that’s my thoughts anyway whats yours
Gareth Pugh
August 25th, 2015 - 3:32pmI imagine they will extend it to run on a bit beyond Autumn 2018 to cover Series 9, whatever we get in 2016 (rumoured to be no full series next year but perhaps 2-3 specials like in 2009) and maybe a 2017 series. But that lot would likely only add an extra 9-10 books on the end (this year is mostly 2-part stories so may not fill quite as many books as a series of all one-parters like Matt Smith’s final season could). It’s not as big a risk as e.g. Hachette’s Marvel part work where they were able to double the run (60 to 120) with tons more historical comic strip content available to use 🙂

August 21st, 2015 - 9:12amWhy an earth are they not doing this in chronological order?
Gareth Pugh
August 21st, 2015 - 1:22pmThink about it. Marketing wise, six months of William Hartnell based books is not going to excite the widest possible audience during he crucial launch months. The publisher Hachette always do this – they’re doing the same with Dredd – it jumps around the chronology to keep it fresh for the readers (and, as they said in the new DWM, the writers quite like jumping from one era to another to keep it interesting for them). And also, it’s a canny marketing strategy to mix up the order of books – that way, you’ll be less tempted to quit because you’ll likely want to avid the gaps you’d be left with if you did.
DOCTOR WHO ONE
August 21st, 2015 - 5:55pmGareth Pugh – To quote spoke from Star Trek : Logical, flawlessly logical 🙂
PewdieSepticPlier
April 8th, 2016 - 6:40pmAlso they put a picture on the spine as it will discourage readers to quit when they have to books for just their favorite doctor.
Whovians R Us
August 20th, 2015 - 11:22pmIf you have the premium will one premium book be delivered per book in every 2 weeks
Gareth Pugh
August 21st, 2015 - 7:59amNo. You pay an extra £1 per issue of the series (so, £10.99 instead of £9.99). Then , every 12 issues (= a frequency of one every 6 months) you’ll be sent one of the ‘Premium’ comic strip books. By the end of the collection (approx three and a half years) you’ll have all 6, and it will have cost you £80 for the set). The actual book series issues will be sent in parcels of 2 issues every 4 weeks, so you’ll be getting a delivery approx once a month. (Keeps the P+P down for them and free for subscribers).

August 20th, 2015 - 11:00pmIf I was not collecting the Judge Dredd part work I might have gone for these – look really comprehensive and tempted to buy the first couple to see the interior content layout

When The Doctor Was Me
August 20th, 2015 - 4:44pmAfter much deliberation I have decided not to collect. As much as I love the set and it looks into Production (a career I am currently beginning), I just can’t afford to pay for them.
DOCTOR WHO ONE
August 20th, 2015 - 3:08pmThis reminds me of an old 1990’s publication called ‘How My Body Works’.
You got books that also made up an image on the spines, just the logo if I recall correctly. You also got VHS videos which also made up an identical image on the spines of the Video covers, and you you got parts with each issue to build up a representation of the human body, bones, organs etc.
