Doctor Who: The Eaters Of Light (Target Collection) (Signed Bookplate Edition) Signed by: Rona Munro
“To protect a muddy little hillside, you doomed your whole world!”
The Doctor takes Bill and Nardole back to 2nd century Scotland to learn the fate of the ‘lost’ Ninth Legion of the Imperial Roman Army. 5,000 soldiers vanished without explanation – how?
The search for the truth leads the Doctor and his friends into a deadly mystery. Who is the Guardian of the Gate? What nightmare creature roams the wildlands, darkening the sky and destroying all in its path? A threat from another dimension has been unleashed on the Earth, and only a terrible sacrifice can put things right…
Doctor Who: The Fires Of Pompeii (Target Collection) (Signed Bookplate Edition) Signed by: James Moran
“My masters will follow the example of Rome… our mighty empire bestraddling the whole of civilization!”
It is AD 79, and the TARDIS lands in Pompeii on the eve of the town’s destruction. Mount Vesuvius is ready to erupt and bury its surroundings in molten lava, just as history dictates. Or is it?
The Doctor and Donna find that Pompeii is home to impossible things: circuits made of stone, soothsayers who read minds and fiery giants made of burning rock. From a lair deep in the volcano, these creatures plot the end of humanity and the Doctor soon finds he has no way to win…

July 20th, 2022 - 9:38pmHmm, well not particularly happy.
My bookplate copy of Eaters of Light is signed by Rona with just the letter “R”. According to FP apparently they’re all like that….does anyone have a better signature than one letter?!
Rex Farrel
July 20th, 2022 - 9:42pmOut of curiosity, are you going to return it?
Simon Terry
July 20th, 2022 - 9:57pmI did email FP, they said I could return it but I will keep it as it is. I like the book, it’s just an odd signature – you expect a bit more.

August 30th, 2022 - 1:15pmSigs can be odd. I met Euros Lyn once and he signed a DVD for me and it’s just a squiggle. Literally. Sam Ryder off Eurovision signs with just his initials.

August 30th, 2022 - 3:12pmMy sister once ordered a signed Gary Barlow book (the guy from Take That) and he had just signed “G” so you never know.

August 30th, 2022 - 4:37pmThey are all like that. There was a “thing” on twitter for the first batch of people basically asking if they had a book from the end of the signing session when she was tired. But no, that’s how she signs things. You can’t really ask people to sign things “better.” It’s on the bookplate, so it’s genuine at least!

August 30th, 2022 - 5:11pmAndrew Carmel’s autograph is currently a couple of worms. Looking at some previous ones, it does seem they used to have more detail to them

August 30th, 2022 - 5:34pmStars signatures are sometimes not readble in full anyway my David Tennant charity card signature looks like “dail ths” .adventurer/author Simon Reeve is my favourite signing wise as he always writes his full name big and sometimes even gives you photos from his adventures too which is a pretty cool.My worst was Duran Duran i got intials or first names on my amazon cd i was heartbroken even some fans claimed they never really signed them as the signatures are so bad lol.

August 30th, 2022 - 7:35pmWasn’t there secretaries who signed for the Beatles because demand was too much for them? Duranies may gave got the same treatment!
Seem to recall Jodie Whittaker signs with initials sometimes too. Especially when fans are paying so much these days at signings, you would think a full signature would be the least they could do although I’m sure it must be tedious work. Tom Baker must have signed thousands and thousands of items and always signs his full name (legibly) and usually a message. I remember the poor man signing piles of hundreds of Target books years ago!

August 30th, 2022 - 7:43pmI guess some artists think their signatures might be used for just monetary gain. I went to a con with sylvester and sophie recently and instead of just signing they asked my name as i had a few signed. Sylvester even added Hi! and drew an emoji smile on his which was rather nice. I actually dont mind as its more personal to me.

August 30th, 2022 - 7:54pmDoug youre right. Jodie does sometimes signs her full name. She did so with the Big Chief figurines. I guess its when they are innundated or dont have the time to sign as many.

August 30th, 2022 - 8:08pmIt may be tedious but most are well paid. In toms case with the recent hornets nest LPs, he probably signs so many in his spare time from the comfort of his home.

August 30th, 2022 - 8:23pmI’m lucky enough to have all the Doctor’s signatures (except Jo Martin) but did replace a postcard with Jodie’s initials with the full signature!
As you say, it must be quite well-paid for the tedium. Yes there’s nice photos of Tom signing ‘Hornet’s Nest’ at home. Peter Cushing has the most beautiful signature!
Ergon, I agree it’s so much nicer having a personal signature. I treasure my copy of ‘Robot’ that Tom signed for me when I was nine years old!

August 30th, 2022 - 8:51pmI missed seeing tom in his heyday. I was maybe too young to appreciate those stars back then. I envy those that got to see Tom, lis and Ian when they officially switched on Blackpool Illuminations in the early 70s but i would have only been 4 or 5 at the time. Its the same with colin. There were several occasions in the mid 80s when i missed him by just days. Both Blackpool again. The time he opened the space invader at the pleasure beach and the other when he, NicolaBryant and JNT turned up in Bessie at the exhibition on central promenade which is highlighted on the season 22 boxset. It sickens me i missed such an event seeing all those children which were about my age or a little younger getting those autographs. It was exactly how i remember it. Its lovely to see them anytime of course but so much better when they had more enthusiasm and liveliness as theiryounger alter egos.

August 31st, 2022 - 12:35amYes the previous signed bookplates were the same.Bit of a waste of money tbh
Rory
August 31st, 2022 - 9:50amKen, not really a waste of money since they’re not charging more than cover price for them (they’re actually cheaper than RRP at the moment). It’s a nice little bonus for no extra cost.

September 1st, 2022 - 1:10pm@ Rory: I have to agree here. If they sign a bookplate with just an initial (Which is basically free!) fine – But I’d expect a better signature if I’d forked out an extra tenner for it! I met Jason King’s Peter Wyngarde years ago & he signed my item with ‘PW’ which I thought was £10 down the drain. Luckily I was purchasing this for somebody else. I also met John De Lancie who signed with a scrawled ‘JDL’ for £15 & a sneer. So he obviously didn’t like my item that he signed, wheras my mate behind me got the full John De Lancie signature. They say never meet your heroes & after a few years of autograph hunting I gave up. I could go on, but I can count on one hand how many pleasant actors I met over the years.
