    Lovely magazine. Got it today.
Highlight for me was of course the articles on the big screen films, but also I thought the Fact of Fiction on Galaxy 4 was great too.
I love it when they put a lot of stuff about the classic series in to them. 🙂

Could anyone tell me if there’s anything in the magazine about the 6 ‘monster’ dvds that are still listed on amazon at about £8 each regarding what the content is? (or indeed if anybody knows anything at all about them yet?)

Its time the two cushing films got more credit…the film daleks still look more than a match for their tv counterparts even today… Cushing is a marvellous doctor and there are quality performances from the likes of Philip Madoc and Andrew Keir.

A decent replica of the superb saucer from the second film – which looks alarmingly realistic as it hovers over London and homes in on an escaping vehicle – is long overdue….

What I find sad is that Peter Cushing isn’t alive to do a sort of crossover with Matt Smith’s Doctor, and there isn’t even a figure so we can act it out. *Sigh*

If he where still alive, I doubt he could really do anything at the age of 99. He’d probably be extremely frail and possibly be suffering from Dementia now if he was still around.

Doctor Who Magazine probably could do a story where Matt Smith’s Doctor somehow does end up in a Parallel Universe and meets Peter Cushing’s Dr.Who, and the two not only face Daleks from both universes, they get to see each others Tardis’s and attempt to control each others Tardis’s as well 😀

Yeah, good point. Even still, your idea would be epic. I vote for Character Options to buy the rights to a Peter Cushing figure! And some of them epic Movie Daleks! 😀

Bernard Cribbins: policeman/companion in the 2nd Cushing film- Daleks’ Invasion Earth 2150AD
      then Wilfred Mott (Donna’s Grandfather).

      Alternate realites!

I may be wrong, but I think he was also considered at one point for the role of the Doctor as well (classic tv series 70’s 80’s)?

  • DOCTOR WHO ONE

    May 23rd, 2013 - 5:09pm

I don’t get why some people keep asking “How come Peter Cushing is not considered one of the Doctors ?”.

You’d have thought watching both Dalek movies would have made it pretty obvious for why he is not one of the TV Doctors, so that way you’d need to ask that question.

As we all should know, the 1960’s Dalek Movies where based on the first 2 1960’s Dalek TV stories from the series [The Dead Planet / The Dalek Invasion of Earth]. The Doctor is a human being called Dr.Who, living in an ordinary home with 2 granddaughters called

Cushing would have been a 100 years old this weekend, and with the release of the movies on blu ray, and now this – a fitting tribute to a wonderful actor (come on, who doesn’t cheer when he’s blown up in Star Wars – so far removed from the lovable Doctor in the movies)Glad he’s getting some recognition again.
