Doctor Who Insider Monthly Magazine Cancelled
Doctor Who Insider Magazine Cancelled
27/01/2012
After a period of uncertainty and little communication from its publishers posters on this site and others have been informed that the magazine has been cancelled from issue 9 and subscription refunds or transfers to Doctor Who magazine will be offered.
Bow tie of Doom (Mood fit woo eb)
February 16th, 2012 - 10:54amGot issues 6 and 9 in the post yesterday from galaxy four. Hopefully 5,7 and 8 will come soon.
So altogether I have:
Best of 1-4
Issue 3
Issue 6
Issue 9
Thinking about maybe ordering issues 1-4 but since I already have the best of mag I don’t think it’ll be worth it! 🙂

February 8th, 2012 - 9:55amI knew it would be unwise for Doctor WHo Magazine to “broaden their horizon” quite so widely, so to speak.
They spent so much, focused on trying to get so much bigger, to the extent that they excelled themselves and got bankrupt, had to cancel their little extra magazine line.
It was great though, it was more appealing to younger readers than DWM itself, my little cousin rather enjoyed it. Looked great, was a great read. 😉

February 8th, 2012 - 8:40amI never seen the best of issue when did it come out I only have 1-9.

Signed upset…

February 8th, 2012 - 9:21amIt is dated September 2011. I would presume it was out somewhen in August 2011.
I do not know what the shelf life was (ie 1 month or 3 months). From what I remember WHSmiths still had loads of copies after one month.
the TARDIS
February 3rd, 2012 - 3:51pmThis news comes just after my mum subacribed to it for my birthday – in the end, I never even got a single issue.
the TARDIS

February 8th, 2012 - 8:44amWoah, that sucks ! Hearing that just about makes me angry ! You should get a new birthday present ! ❗
My mom is not perfect, but I think she would be reasonable enough to get me another present for my birthday if this happened ! 😀

February 2nd, 2012 - 5:52pmSo in total there were ten “editions”:-
Issues 1-9
The Best of Issues 1-4
Was there anything else?
This is a shame. I rather liked it, particularly some of the off-beat interviews, such as the man who played Jamie (McCrimmon) briefly.

January 30th, 2012 - 10:13amThere’s been no official announcement, so it’s all speculation. But likely it didn’t turn enough profit.
I think the problem with this mag was that it was too similar to DWM (with exception of a few region-specific articles/advertisements etc) and had the same target audience – and most people who had access to DWI were already buying DWM.
Also for comparison, DWM is about $17 in Australia, and DWI was about $11… so if you’re on a budget, you’re probably going to buy DWM as it has far more content for the price.
My thoughts anyway.

January 29th, 2012 - 1:23pmDarn it! Now I only have acess to one doctor who magazine!

January 28th, 2012 - 10:23pmHere on Long Island, New York; it always hit the stands 2weeks later than the supposed available date. I also get the U.K. DWM, but that is always 6-8 weeks after its’ British release! It never compared anyway, but was interesting to an American Whovian!

January 28th, 2012 - 8:01pmThis comes as no suprise. How many different “official” magazines can one show support? I know this was intended to be the US/Australia mag but I think they were probably getting ahead of themselves as the show is still no where near as popular in those countries as it is here and I suspect 50% of the subscribers are/were from the UK….who probably released the mag had the same out of date news as the UK version.

January 28th, 2012 - 11:24amShame, it sold quite well in Australia, at least in my area.
There still seem to be a fair few back issues around though, so if you want the collection it might be wise to hop into your local store/ebay before people start scalping them.
King of the Cybermen
January 28th, 2012 - 9:07amThis must be sad for the people who loved this. Anyway, my favourite may is MI and I will be gutted when it stops (probably in summer) 🙁 !!

January 27th, 2012 - 6:40pmI posted a bit about this on the Doctor Who Adventures Magazine section yesterday if anyone needs more information.
I’m disapointed as it was a decent magazine with a nice balance of old and new Who.I sometimes find DWM a bit too in depth and this mag was a nice light read.

January 27th, 2012 - 4:16pmTell me about it.
I bought this for my cousin, and he rather liked it.
Ah well, just aslong as we have DWM that’s the main thing.
I think the makers of the magazine industry were just aiming to high, and with not enough demand in the states, they had to stop. 🙁
