Doctor Who Dark Horizons by J.T. Colgan Hardback

Doctor Who Dark Horizons Hardback

No one can escape the burning. Written by J.T. Colgan with 320 pages from BBC Books. Due for release on 5 July 2012

On a windswept Northern shore, at the very tip of what will one day become Scotland, the islanders believe the worst they have to fear is a Viking attack. Then the burning comes. They cannot run from it. Water will not stop it. It consumes everything in its path – yet the burned still speak.

The Doctor is just looking for a game on the famous Lewis chess set. Instead he encounters a people under attack from a power they cannot possibly understand. They have no weapons, no strategy and no protection against a fire sent to engulf them all.

Add in some marauding Vikings with very bad timing, a kidnapped princess with a secret of her own and a TARDIS that seems to have developed an inexplicable fear of water, and they all have a battle on their hands. The islanders must take on a ruthless alien force in a world without technology; without communications; without tea that isn’t made out of bark. Still at least they have the Doctor on their side… Don’t they?

A thrilling new adventure starring the Doctor, as played by Matt Smith

Got this through the post earlier. The design of the cover is really well done and the book is about the same size as The Silent Stars Go By. 😀 Can’t wait to read it! 😀

Just finished it! A fantastic book which I suggest you buy if you can. This is definitely in my top 5 Eleventh Doctor books and the order of that top 5 would go:
      1.) Touched By An Angel
      2.) Nuclear Time
      3.) Dark Horizons
      4.) Magic of the Angels
      5.) The Forgotten Army

It is great that the new series is attracting some bigger names. What is not great is the bigger formats these books end up in. Why do they have to be so huge? Most collectors do not have the space. All the recent huge hardbacks have gone into storage, and I will stick to reading normal sized hardbacks like the Big Finish Blake’s 7 one.

Space is a premium for collectors, so why waste the worlds’ resources printing over-sized books.

I think it’s a wonderful book, it’s great ehy’ve finally made one that has the Doctor’s face on it.

I wasn’t really interested in teh other two, when they came out. Was more interested in Touched by an Angel and the Way through the Woods, which are good in their own right. 🙂

This looks awesome! I have The Coming Of The Terraphiles (which I still need to read) and The Silent Stars Go By (which was ok but it seemed to just drag a lot) I take it the three new series adventures books won’t be out till late October/early November time.

That was the most amazing book. It dealt with themes that the actual show would have! The jokes were funny and timey whimey elements worked! One of my Favourite books!

Yes! It was immense, emotional, scary, tense and funny. After the Weeping Angels lost their touch (literally) in The Time Of Angels/Flesh And Stone it was a nice breathe of fresh air for them. The Angels return in two weeks though! 😀 Don’t blink!!
