Thought it was great! At least we are getting some kind of Who related to watch whilst we wait for the next series! At one point forgot I was watching animation! Looking forward to part 2!

I really enjoyed this. Would like an archivist figure if Eaglemoss are reading this!

After so long the xenophobic cyborgs, who are both the reason I became a doctor who fan and also remain to this day my favourite monsters, have finally got their own show!

While the first episode wasn’t perfect I still really liked it, here is everything I Liked and disliked about the first episode.

Dislikes: The fire/flames were too obviously a load of pentagons and hexagons pasted over each other, At times the dalek spaceships were still despite being in space so it sort of ruined the illusion, The episode was kind of short I would love them to be longer.

Likes: The reflection on the daleks metal casings is brilliant, the voices for the individual daleks such as the emperor’s deep voice; the executioner’s shrill voice and the strategist’s quiet yet sinister voice are all fantastic and fitted the different daleks personalities perfectly, The music is cool, catchy and fits the tv century 21 era perfectly, I love the design of the archive of Islos along with the design of the robot archivists, The episode proved to be more humorous than I expected since the dialogue between the Emperor Dalek and the Chief archivist made me laugh out loud at least three times, I adore all of the Daleks designs especially the Emperor’s Giant golden globe head, the Strategist’s old fashioned rusty casing and the Executioner’s menacing red eye; smart black dome and his threatening claw.

Animation isnt perfect yes but i really enjoyed the story and the characters of the daleks, especially the emperor and the dalek prime strategist (id recommend reading Defender of the daleks comics to find out why hes in the original casing btw). It definitely captured the 60s dalek comics feel which i really liked. Its kinda sad to see some bashing its getting though, maybe if they read/watched something that isnt new who for a change, but i can see why it isnt for everyone. It at least managed to do what new who and some writers fail at which is to write the daleks as actually characters rather than set piece or shot to kill screaming monsters.
    Look forward to part 2.

Well I would say ‘Dalek’ and ‘Daleks in Manhattan’ did a good job at characterizing the Daleks. I mean Rob Shearman is one of the only writers who actually seems to understand the Daleks.

The different characteristics of each Dalek conversing with each other reminded me of what we could’ve had with the 2010 Paradigm, had they not been booed off screen.

Especially the Strategist, as that was literally one of the roles, and Briggs performed each colour with a different personality.

What a treat that would’ve been to see on screen, as opposed to the bronze drones shouting exterminate, lacking much actual character, in the late Smith / Calaldi eras.

The Bronze Daleks are perfect but having paradigm or new colours as leaders or higher rankings would be cool to see. As long as the bronze drones stay the same. They’re peak Dalek design, can’t see them being topped

I’d keep the Bronze at drones but give new colour schemes to different Dalek Types and different attachments.

Be great if from this Chibs decides to put this version of the Emporer in the TV series.

For me, the new paradigm Daleks, as they appeared in Victory of the Daleks, looked like the casings had come out of a mould rather than appear to be built and also put me in mind of Land Rovers and other 4×4’s you sometimes saw about at that time, flat matt block colour paintwork and matt black plastic trim, designed to appeal to the firmly on-road driver. Plus, having five, each a different colour, would either having to make further props to make-up numbers of any particular one type or just have the one hero prop and CGI the rest, else shades of Day of the Daleks.

Their appearance in Asylum of the Daleks was much better. The colours darkened and metallic, the different types scattered amongst the bronze Daleks like they were of a particular rank, like the Dalek Supreme. Wish they had followed that route with them rather than abandoning them.

The plan was always for the red drones to replace the standard bronze drones, with the odd blue/orange dotted around as higher ranks. So not a rainbow of colours as people seem to think, although I do agree the dark metallic versions looks great and are my personal favourite design. They were even on a poster for “The Time of the Doctor”, but never featured in that episode, or any since.

I wish they would bring back the Paradigm Daleks tbh. They honestly weren’t as bad as some people say.

Excellent. The Main Feature, the Daleks look superb, not sure the Achivists of Islos came across that well. But they would in a Graphic Novel, so maybe that was the aim.

The eaglemoss emperor is superb, Based on this and the TLV story arc

I doubt it, it’s the first part chronologically of the whole TLV story so you may as well just watch online instead of waiting around, it’s only around 50 minutes in total when all 5 episodes release so I can’t see a dvd happening

I wouldn’t think a 50 minute DVD would sell that well tbh. maybe as an extra on something.

I can,t see them not releasing this in some format.I would expect it soon after all episodes are aired I haven,t seen the first episode, the reviews have been fairly positive. Still, whether it is released or not its always going to be on Youtube to watch at your liesure.

    I enjoyed that.

Loved the different characters of the Daleks.

Although not the best animation the Daleks looked great. Can’t wait to get the next 4 from Eaglemoss.

I’d like a videogame where you can be The Daleks and exterminate everything too.

I believe the newsletter usually comes out on Tuesdays, so subscribers will be getting episodes then, and non-subscribers on the Thursdays.
