B&M 2021 The Sensorites Figure Set

Character Options is delighted to announce its first new wave of Doctor Who action figure sets for 2021 with four new lines scheduled to arrive in B and M stores across the country in Mid-August.

This exciting launch will introduce two more action figure trios plus two additional special collectors’ packs for Dalek Fans. Each and every set of this detailed series will include highly detailed 5.5 inch scale figures featuring multiple points of articulation and come presented in the ‘heritage’ Doctor Who packaging with specially created insert artwork.

This Doctor Who Collectors set is a must have for all Doctor Who fans and collectors and includes a trio of detailed Doctor Who figures from the classic 1964 episode ‘The Sensorites’.

The Sensorites were a terrific alien species with their telepathic abilities and peaceful overtures. Their appearance at the window towards the end of episode 1 must rate as one of the creepiest entrances of any alien in the show.

Celebrating the episode fans will be able to enjoy a First Doctor figure, a Sensorite Action Figure with Probe Accessory plus an alternative Sensorite ELDER Action Figure with Probe Accessory. For the first time in a 3 figure pack we have a detailed insert card rather than bare white card.

I don’t live anywhere near a B and M, so I won’t going round endlessly trying to find shops, only to find stock hasn’t arrived, or if it has arrived, someone has purchased all the stock! Whether I like it or not, it’s going to be eBay where I will likely purchase these figures. Probably being sold by someone who bought all the stock.

Same! Every year I give B&M a great big miss & purchase from ebay as usual.

If you go down the eBay route, just hold your nerve and possible hold off buying them until later, particularly the figure sets. The Dalek sets tend to see well on eBay for above the BM store price, so I’d buy those first. However, the figure sets come right down in price overtime. I picked up the companion sets and zygon UNIT sets for between £10-15 each (PP included) months after they had been released. Also, contact a seller directly if they have a range of sets for sale and see if they can do a bulk deal on a lot of them for you; I’ve done that before and it saves you a few quid, particularly on postage.

I wonder if the Sensorites with their Egg whisks could team up with the Dalek with the Frying pan and make something very tasty?

      Soufflé they’ve got the eggs

Calling all diorama makers, you have your next project! You can even print out a mini version of the old Doctor Who cookbook. Or do Ready, Steady, Cook with a TNG Riker standing in for Rylan (similar beards).

(I know this is the B&M budget line and their making use of the old Axon sculpt).
But I do feel sorry for the Sensorite with the double sach.
He must have one hell of a job trying to use his psychic communication device with it being fastened under his sach.

How much are these retailed at?

Also, do you think this set will sell well? I personally love it and can’t wait to get it, however to most shoppers and non-classic Who fans, it’ll just be an old man with weird looking old bald men alien things. Not to be a Debbie downer. It was a risk for CO and one I appreciate.

      It’s very hard to tell.

The Seventh Doctor and Cybermen 3 pack from a few years ago didn’t sell well when it was in the shops yet the Harry Sullivan and Sontarans 3 pack sold extremely well.

But I suspect these 3 packs will retail at £19.99 (like the 3-packs from last year)…

Yeah that is odd, as Cybermen are iconic and ‘robots’ to most people, whereas Sontaran set looks odd. However, I didn’t see them anywhere so reckon collectors and scalpers got them. It was so popular. I hope they re-release it.

Loving these sets. I loved this story watching it on Britbox earlier this year so can’t wait to get this set. Not an accurate variant but it’s nice. The new moulds for the Sensorites is great, really appreciate them putting the effort in to make things accurate and they’re brilliant.

Wishful thinking: I’d love a Susan with Thals set, maybe a Web Planet Set with Barbara, Zarbi and Menoptera. The next Dalek sets will likely be Evil of the Daleks and Planet of the Daleks. I’d love to get my hands on a Planet Supreme Black and Gold Dalek. They are going for silly money at the moment.

And one day Jamie, Victoria and a Yeti, Ben and Polly, Kraals and Androids?

Who could ever imagine we’d see or get Voord and Sensorite figures? In B&Ms? When you think about it, it’s bonkers. Brilliant but bonkers. Can’t believe there are gripes about them. Voord! Sensorites! And Ian! These look absolutely amazing. Well done Al and CO.

We’re long overdue another first Doctor and TARDIS set. Then an eighth Doctor and TARDIS set please!

I’ve just seen the Keys of Marinus set on eBay preorder at £45!! Not even released yet and the scalpers are starting already. I’ll be checking my local b & m and either getting them there or not, not paying that price! Does anyone know how many units of each set are available in this wave?

    • booboo

      August 2nd, 2021 - 7:38pm

probably round 6000 of each but no 100% sure, and the ebay thing happens all the time and has done for years now and not just Doctor Who stuff

  • Dalekz

    August 2nd, 2021 - 7:00pm

These are nice, I going to give them a miss myself as I don’t have room for anything other than Doctors, Cybermen and Daleks but they are a cool character to add to a collection.

If GOGS doesn’t have them on Amazon.com like with last year’s B&M sets, then, if trend holds, WhoNA.com should carry a few in stock. I’ve used both for my US Who set needs.

Just been comparing COs First Doctor and Harrops Version and I actually prefer this one.

  • Popplewick

    August 2nd, 2021 - 5:11pm

Love how theyve added those smashing guns the Sensorites used. Nothing wrong with the Hartnell figure although I think a figure of a third Sensorite or even Susan would have been preferable to a figure which is almost a repeat.

  • David Minter

    August 2nd, 2021 - 4:28pm

Excuse my ignorance, but I thought CO couldn’t afford to make all new figures anymore. I know last year they made the Harry Sullivan, but I still thought CO couldn’t afford new molds for figures to make the line profitable. These Sensorite figures are all new, aren’t they?

    Thanks!

    • booboo

      August 2nd, 2021 - 4:31pm

They can probably “afford” to make anything when backed with guaranteed sales.

    • Rex Farrel

      August 2nd, 2021 - 5:27pm

Modified Axon Man molds by the looks of it, with a small number of new parts. Same for the Voord. Nice job.

      August 2nd, 2021 - 5:51pm

Weren’t the fur coat Doctor, Voord, and Sensorite figures planned several years ago? They may even got to prototype stage and been made back then, but not put into production for whatever reason. Clearly things have changed and there’s more sense to release them now.

    • booboo

      August 2nd, 2021 - 5:53pm

never seen the Voord and Sensorites mentioned before

The base figure had already been created the head, feet, accessory & sash is new, I think.

The dioramas do add to the aesthetic of these sets, it has to be said.

I know right they are amazing it’s gives the box more use rather than just storing the whole thing away

    August 2nd, 2021 - 4:03pm

Love it. Even though the 1st Doctor may not be screen accurate, I think its my favourite variant of him after the Unearthly Child version.

    • Rex Farrel

      August 2nd, 2021 - 9:16pm

Agreed. If you add the cane from another version, he’s going to look great on the shelf.

  • Alan Silvester

    August 2nd, 2021 - 3:43pm

Can these not be online too? The distribution to stores is always haphazard at best. Stores never seem to know when or if they will be getting stocks, and travelling miles every day just to check if not practicable. Just frustrating. And even more frustrating when all the “scalpers” start putting them on Ebay at ridiculous prices.

    • booboo

      August 2nd, 2021 - 3:47pm

at the moment B&M dont sell online

  • MJS

    August 2nd, 2021 - 3:41pm

I wouldn’t worry about these going. The fact there have been so many left from the last wave, and they even got reduced, before going to Character to see of the remainder, shows that there’s plenty folks!!

    • the ergon

      August 2nd, 2021 - 3:45pm

I think its more about getting them first. Preferably the first week or two when the mad scramble is on. Basically to say i,ve got mine.

    • Prototype dalek

      August 2nd, 2021 - 4:15pm

A lot from the last wave got reduced mainly due to some stores receiving lots of stock and some receiving none at all, especially in the south. I am sure they will sell well if they get distribution right.

  • MDS

    August 2nd, 2021 - 3:35pm

The only thing I ask for is can the distribution be done a lot better than last time please.

    • booboo

      August 2nd, 2021 - 3:41pm

i think that was down to one new distribution not being ready last year which hopefully is all resolved

  • kaz

Do we know when they’ll be in shops?

    • booboo

      August 2nd, 2021 - 3:31pm

      Mid August

  • Neutrobyte

    August 2nd, 2021 - 3:21pm

I’d have preferred a Hartnell Doctor with a cloak (which Sensorites give him to replace his coat), plus I’d probably get 2 sets and modify the Elder’s sash into the Administrator’s.

  • Doctor Who figure collector

    August 2nd, 2021 - 3:21pm

Excellent figure set. I only want ‘The Sensorite’ set and ‘Keys of Marinus’ set. I’ve got enough Daleks, so no interest in the history of the Daleks sets.

  • the ergon

    August 2nd, 2021 - 3:19pm

i wonder. Could you remove the sash and make it a single as well as double? Or is it just one piece?
