July 13th, 2017 - 12:01pmI have to ask, does anyone know at all if the Rose figure has the brown and blonde mixed hair colour or the bright blonde?
Hope its the brown/blonde version as its a while lot better than the latter.

July 12th, 2017 - 3:15pmAs with the other sets, the figure choices here seem ripe for repaints which would have been incredibly simple.
The Auton could have been repainted a variety of colours, but most easily the main Auton used for publicity photos with the black jacket and bright purple shirt – the version released as part of the figurine collection a year or so back.
As for the Ninth Dr, we could finally have a non exclusive green jumper version (perhaps removing the seam lines painted onto the jumper of that version to make it still stay exclusive and just paint the jumper a straight green?). Or, the one we probably all wished it was – an accurate navy blue jumper from Aliens of London.
Rose is a little more difficult. They could repaint the trousers black with a red and black hoodie from The Long Game? The hair and some sculpting would be inacccurate but this technique worked well enough with Jo from last year. Or, if they literally want a straight repaint of that costume and a similar ‘disco dancing’ pose – take a look at the cover of the novel The Deviant Strain. On that she’s wearing that exact costume, in a similar pose to what the figure was based on from those first publicity images, but the hoodie has been photoshopped a turquoise green. Another incredibly easy variant, which also at least gives us some reason as to why it would still be in the pose of the ‘disco dancing’ version.

July 12th, 2017 - 9:46pmHi Ryan.
Its not so simple to do repaints. or as cheap as people may think. Before any changes could take place, the BBC would need to sign off on them, and before that, Colours need to be mixed in large enough batches , and if its not right on a test batch, more time and expense goes into getting it A right and B approved.
These are Bargains and Merchandise Exclusives. Bargains. being the main word here. So get some new production figures done (no one keep that much stock in the factory for these to be original versions) get pain patern 5 already cleared and used previously. and bam …some cheaper figures for 3 in a box. Mr Cyberman seems to have had minimal fixings to him, so its all done to keep the costs down.
I do hope that these figures sell in enough quantaties, simply because Doctor who on the High street, is a Brand that needs to be seen and selling (toys r us got stung on 3.75s and bits and bob, and the Entertainer hardly ever had them after Lazlo) The reason they are not on the high street is the Profit margin, With places like FP or Galaxy four taking the hight streets place (oh and the who shop) so the high street loses the DW sapce and fills it with something else . They (the shops) dont need Doctor who, Doctor who needs the shops. Underground has been bought by Funko .
Its tough market place with some tough costs to have these landed in the UK from China. Hench £16.99 rrp

July 12th, 2017 - 10:41pmI totally understand here that these are designed to be cheap re-releases of existing products – I shall be purchasing them all as I have done since the range started. I love them all and don’t take them for granted, but I merely wanted to offer some slight alternatives after many fans were completely delighted with the two repainted versions of the Third Dr and Jo from last years sets, and were of course wondering if there could be any more of those types of figures here. It’s just a shame the market for Who has changed so much since the early days of the range – but it’s something that has to be worked around I guess.
booboo
July 13th, 2017 - 8:34amI could well be the 3rd Doctor and Jo were destined for some other cancelled set so the work on paint masks etc had already been done.
There are still several figures on “that picture” that we have never seen but don’t know if the tooling was done
would be good to see some of those turn up one day like Korwin did in the Tescos set
WouldYouLikeAJellyBaby?
July 13th, 2017 - 10:26amIf that’s the case then I’d really like to see the Fourth Doctor in tartan from Terror of The Zygons and the Seventh Doctor in dufflecoat from Curse of Fenric get released, depending on whether the tooling was finished. I hope we see that cancelled Destiny of The Daleks Fourth Doctor variant that was due to be released in the two-pack instead of the Genesis variant too but I’m not sure how far that went into production before it was cancelled.
The Outcast
July 13th, 2017 - 1:48pmI would love CO for ever if they had the tooling for the Wheel in Space Cyberman (which was on the big poster) and they released it in one of these sets.

July 13th, 2017 - 7:55pm@Ryan, I think u mean rose from the covers of either the mobsters inside or winter takes all, I don’t think the cover of the the deviant strain is the same jacket, I think it was grey in the original image, or it might even be from the empty child, based on her hairstyle.
Anonymous
July 13th, 2017 - 7:55pmMeant monsters inside, not mobsters.

July 14th, 2017 - 9:18pm@ Anonymous. You’re quite right, it is indeed The Monsters Inside! I’m going from the memory of my novels and they’re all boxed up at the moment so I apologise for the misstep. Here’s the image of it – http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTa84dHLGQzfDb_eOjPBCH_j_Hh0ebSrEBWzEEieeDF34eo5Fgm

July 14th, 2017 - 9:21pmAlso booboo, I’m sure that on the ‘poster’ the Invasion of the Dinosaurs Third Dr was there, but with his grey tartan cape from the episode, which I imagine was omitted from the B and M set due to cost, but it was nice to finally get it. I really hope we get the Tartan Tom or Peg Doll one day.

July 12th, 2017 - 2:47pmWonder if the Auton’s jacket will go that weird grey colour like the others.
The Outcast
July 12th, 2017 - 12:35pmSadly, the Auton doesn’t seem to come with the swap-able gun hand. 🙁

July 12th, 2017 - 9:58amWhen are these figure sets due in stock at B&M?
booboo
July 12th, 2017 - 10:31amEnd of July Beginning of August
Tim M
July 12th, 2017 - 6:06pmThanks Boo Boo. I reckon I’ll be going round many of the B&M stores in at the end of the month, just to try and find the ‘Monsters’ set. Probably be the equivalent to a pub crawl, but without the drink…or the figures! I really want that Cyber Controller as I didn’t get the collect and build set. I was a late collector to the figure collecting party. Only started collecting the figures in 2012…and ‘Tomb of the Cybermen’ is a favourite story of mine.
ericthedalek
July 11th, 2017 - 10:59pmI wonder, is it likely CO is putting out these sets to offset the cost of new figures? A regeneration is happening at Christmas . We should be positive, and clear space on our Who shelf. Wink wink.
Beevers Master
July 8th, 2017 - 12:09pmLooking forward to these sets.
Hopefully going to get all 3 because I got all 3 last year
Tim M
July 7th, 2017 - 11:12amI’d definitely like to get the ‘Monsters’ set. Only for the Cyber Controller. As it comes from my favourite Doctor Who adventure ever ‘Tomb of the Cybermen’.
GallifreyanKnight
July 6th, 2017 - 10:07pmI don’t know why they’ve put that Rose figure in this set.
It’s beyond awful.
Anonymous
July 7th, 2017 - 4:25pmI think they want to get rid of all stock they have left of it
DoctorSong2016
July 7th, 2017 - 5:50pmIt doesn’t work like that. They don’t jus text have random figures lying around the warehouse that they decide to bundle into a set. All of the figures will be newly made from the sculpts that they’ve had since 2004/5.
What’s more likely is that they’re trying to make use of a sculpt that they still have rather than just not using it.
Acefan01
July 8th, 2017 - 11:42amThey could of made rose like that but in a proper way like in s2
DannyTheNerd
July 6th, 2017 - 9:09pmBit of an odd choice for the Monsters set though. Why include two cybermen?
Tim M
July 7th, 2017 - 1:24pmThey should have released the Cyber Controller, and 80’s Cyberman with a new variant Cyberman…one from ‘The Wheel in Space’.
Colin fan no. 1
July 11th, 2017 - 6:56pmI don’t care as long as I get an earthshock cyber man as they are my favourite
Dominic
July 6th, 2017 - 1:33pmWhy don’t they have these in Toys R Us?
booboo
July 6th, 2017 - 1:41pmthey are exclusive to B&M, toys r us have had their exclusives in the past though not this year it seems
Dominic
July 6th, 2017 - 2:40pmOh ok. When are they suspected to be in stores?
booboo
July 6th, 2017 - 2:47pmdue to arrive 31st July so in stores soon after
Liam
July 6th, 2017 - 11:33amVery hit and miss as ever. Clearly these guys don’t do any market research. If you’re going to release Collector sets, first talk to collectors. This forum would be a good start.
booboo
July 6th, 2017 - 11:47amthis site and other toy forums are generally frequented by collectors who have most things or have been collecting for a while
These “budget” collectors sets are not aimed at those people but rather casual or new collectors as well as impulse buys
Anything tweeked or a variant is basically a bonus
the fact these are in their 4th year shows they work
Judooning
July 6th, 2017 - 9:33amDespite my hopes for that unreleased Prototype Rose figure to have been the included in this set, I can’t help but feel nostalgic when I see this set.
It’s quite nice seeing this figure again along with the Auton from when I was a lot younger and walking into big Toy stores or Woolworths and seeing them on the pegs and in those battle packs with 2 Daleks.
Ah, Memories…
The Outcast
July 6th, 2017 - 10:02amI never got the original Rose figure and I only have the classic auton, so this is a must for me. I wonder if the Auton will come with the swap-able hand function?
Judooning
July 6th, 2017 - 10:18amAll the series 1 Auton figures were able to swivel the tips of their fingers to represent the gun hand. Not entirely screen accurate and they were prone to snapping off. But hopefully the quality of these will be a bit better as is usually the case in these newer release figures.
olly
July 6th, 2017 - 2:17pmJudooning, i can remember those times as well. I was twelve years old when they first came out. Im sure my first ever figure was Rose and David Tennant was my first Doctor figure. We could never track down a Ninth Doctor, but i use to always see many many packs of the Auton, Moxx of Balhoon and Laszlo from series 3.
Andrew
July 6th, 2017 - 3:45amYou think they’ll deliver on accessories? I’ll be very disappointed if the Ninth Doctor lacks a sonic.
Dalek4ever
July 6th, 2017 - 7:13amBy the zoom in I just did, you’ll be disappointed
Adam
July 5th, 2017 - 11:58pmAny idea on the price?
Dalek4ever
July 6th, 2017 - 7:13amThey are usually around £15 on initial release
The Flying Shark
July 6th, 2017 - 7:15amThey’re £16.99 this time round.
The real master
July 5th, 2017 - 10:19pmHopefully next year the new series doctor will be capaldi, possibly his hoodie varient with the burgundy coat and a clara repaint
Anonymous
July 5th, 2017 - 7:16pmAre there any significant variants in these sets – i.e. major repaints (not just darker or lighter shades of same colour) or retooling?
Whovastron
July 6th, 2017 - 10:22amThe attack Cybermen has never been released. We’ve had the rogue and stealth versions, but not the full on drone. This is the Cyberman seen in The Five Doctors and Attack of the Cybermen
Anonymous
July 6th, 2017 - 3:02pmThank you. Thats one set worth buying then. Would be nice if we could get our hands on larger images to make sure this isnt just the Rouge Cyberman with stuck down face plate. Actually its more likely to be a repainted Stealth Cyberman.
booboo
July 6th, 2017 - 3:31pmI’m trying my hardest to get them but no luck so far
Ian
July 5th, 2017 - 4:00pmThey had a year to think up these, not that exciting. I’ll get a monster set. Co must of got the license at a bargain price for all they release.
booboo
July 5th, 2017 - 4:22pmas it tends to run for 3-5 years they probably renewed it now for a re-launch next year, that’s what I’m guessing, new Doctor, New Branding, new interest
Ian
July 5th, 2017 - 8:39pmTrouble is (i am sure your aware of this) a lot of companies have dropped the Doctor Who brand. With no new series until at least 14 months time are they really going to be encouraged to take it up? Character can barley manage to get any figures from any current series out on time, anything from s10 will probably be next year….if they make any. Also unlikely to get new classics.
booboo
July 5th, 2017 - 8:46pm(3) companies more related to the USA market
But..
we will soon see Doctor who branded bubble bath etc, Celebration cakes and new clothing not seen for a few years so its not all bad
I suspect a complete re-launch next year…
Ian
July 6th, 2017 - 9:01amCakes are always around. Any idea what the bubble baths are? I like to collect them.
booboo
July 6th, 2017 - 9:05amno pictures yet, the cakes are a new licence to Finsbury foods

July 6th, 2017 - 5:44pmWhen you say a relaunch does that mean new Action Figures or a brand new type of product?
booboo
July 6th, 2017 - 6:13pmnot sure what will happen, i just think next year we will see a lot more than we have this year
sam
July 5th, 2017 - 3:16pmOr a Slitheen, or Dr Constantine or any other Series 1 figure really

July 5th, 2017 - 3:17pmoops this was meant to be in response to ‘the outcasts’ comment
The Outcast
July 5th, 2017 - 2:47pmThe 9th Doctor looks to have changed his jumper for this release.

July 5th, 2017 - 2:57pmsame old jumper

July 5th, 2017 - 4:09pmNo it’s likely not red accourding to that picture

July 5th, 2017 - 2:43pmWill probably get all of these except the 9th Doctor set due to the Rose figure. Looking forward to seeing images of the RC Dalek to see if it’s any different.
Anonymous
July 5th, 2017 - 12:39pmI think they will probably have vastly improved the paint applications for Rose, as some of them looked really off.
olly
July 5th, 2017 - 12:05pmDefinitely need to get my hands on the 9th Doctor set. I never managed to get any sort of Christopher Eccelston figure and i lost my Rose Tyler figure many years ago.
So this will be a nice set for my now adult collector self.
The Outcast
July 5th, 2017 - 1:47pmI never got the Disco Rose, I could do with another 9th Doctor and I really want a NuWho auton.
Omega63
July 5th, 2017 - 12:00pmDissapointed with K9 being the replacement, but I never got Leela, so I’ll have to get that.
The brain of tge Cyber Controller looks a very dark colouration, along with the head.
Rose looks so out of place, dreadful set in my opinion. So many better re-releases they could have done. Makes it look so cheap for a ‘Collector Set’.
Anonymous
July 5th, 2017 - 1:19pmCO have just renewed their licence. They obviously must be making enough cash from endless repeat ‘collectors’ sets, to justify them keep churning them out.
The Outcast
July 5th, 2017 - 1:48pmYeah, the Rose could have been a Captain Jack or an Empty child.
Bruno B
July 5th, 2017 - 2:57pmK9 looks like a variant
