The TARDIS arrives in 2070 on the Moon, where a weather control station under the command of a man named Hobson is in the grip of a plague epidemic – in reality the result of an alien poison planted by the Cybermen.

So The Underwater Menace has been removed from the schedule for 2015. A year has gone by since The web of fear . With no sign of any more lost stories turning up. So what is going on? Anybody got any new info?

I suspect that behind the scenes BBC Worldwide are looking at the next phase for the range, be it box sets, seasons or whatever.

We also have the BBC archive being worked on and we dont know what plans they have for that.

When Underwater Menace (eventually) gets released, there will be two classic Who episodes within BBC budget to receive animated episodes; The Crusade and Mission to the Unknown.

I’ve no idea if the BBC has any plans to release them, but I’d love to see them released.

If they release the Crusade, we’ll have the complete second season of Doctor Who avaliable to us on their own DVDs.

I think if any of the two will be released, it will be Mission as there is already a full animation available online by Ian Levine that they can use. Let’s hope so

It seems unlikely underwater menace will be animated and from the recent comments from those involved with the classic who dvd range its unlikely those involved with commissioning DVDs are interested in animating any classic who episodes. The main champion for animation was Dan hall and he no longer works on the range

So DM are claiming that Underwater Menace is been released later this year with the missing first and last episodes reconstructed using audio soundtracks. They may have got a way with it with episode 3 the web of fear, but how can they release this story like this? But they are also claiming that their are no more missing episode have been found. This is the same people who said the same thing last summer. This is the first post I have sent on my (nearly)new laptop after the old one went west a month ago.

It was exactly the same thing that was said about ice warriors and tenth planet before animation was anounced for them. What is animation? Its a form of reconstructing the episodes. Makes no sense that they have budgeted animation for this release (planet 55 did have a producer listed for menace which tells me they have budgeted animation for this release). Steve roberts is still maintaining planet 55 being busy with higher paying and more imminent projects are the reason for the hold up

Thoroughly entertaining fun. I was not disappointed with this and really enjoyed the animated episodes – wish all lost episodes could be done to this standard.

DVD extras would have been nice, a commentary at least. That aside, no faults with this at all, glorious quality footage as if filmed recently and fantastic animation.

This story scared the living daylights out of me when I was a wee lad, I doubt if it’ll have the same effect on the adult me but still looking forward to seeing it again.
