Jamie is knocked unconscious and lapses into a delirium, leaving the Second Doctor, Ben, and Polly to fight off a massive Cyberman attack.

February 11th, 2014 - 11:26amOh dear Ian Levine seems to have losted the plot. I too am unhappy with the lack of news on the missing episodes . But this is just disrepect to Chris Barry .
prof horner
February 11th, 2014 - 11:00amSo what did Ian Levine tweet about Chris Barry?
I Froze Gallifrey
February 11th, 2014 - 11:06amHe said ‘Christopher Barry died after a fall at home last week. Yet another example of someone who’ll never get to see what Phil Morris has held back.’
skaroman
February 11th, 2014 - 4:54pmAbsolutely outrageous. Christopher Barry is one of the Doctor Who Gods. His name should be taken in vain against an account of a silly missing episode scandal. I do not know if any more missing episodes have been found, but if we use Doctor Who legends in that disrespect, I wish not to be a part of it.

February 11th, 2014 - 8:38amReleases still to come: The Web Of Fear. The Underwater Mencace
Release that I want: The Crusade (animation of episodes 2 + 4). Mission To The Unknown (Animation created by Ian Levine, on YouTube)
gordon
February 11th, 2014 - 10:26amIan Levine mission to the unknown won’t happen. That’s already been rejected a few years back so that won’t happen. I wouldn’t buy it anyway after he tweeted about Christopher Barry in a way that took a dig at Phil morris. I thought that was very disrespectful. Get a YouTube downloader then burn it to disc if you are so desperate to have it on dvd.

February 10th, 2014 - 11:08amSo sad to hear of the death of Chris Barry. I hope if they have found The power of the daleks they told him. rip Chris.

February 10th, 2014 - 5:03pmHe will go down in Dr Who history
RIP Christopher Barry.

February 10th, 2014 - 7:22pmThat’s my favorite story of classic Dr Who!
prof horner
January 31st, 2014 - 3:45pmI just think it is a shabby way to release this major story.
gordon
January 31st, 2014 - 6:17pmWe are lucky we get restored eps at all let alone extras or animation. Just look at other bbc shows that don’t get extras or restoration at all. Better get used to not having stories with extras as Dan hall and pup ltd (who commisioned animation and extras) didn’t get their contracts renewed. Also if they had held off animation/extras we would be looking at least another year plus to wait. Also extras and animation were seen as an incentive for those that bought the VHS. In this case the episodes never been released before so the eps are the incentive
Johnny
February 10th, 2014 - 8:02amI’m more than happy with the way this has been released, and bearing in mind how much the annimation cost, I certainly wouldn’t describe the release as “shabby”.
prof horner
January 31st, 2014 - 3:06pmAm I the only one who thinks they should be charging less for the web of fear release? Given that there is no animation for part 3 and no commentary or extras.
booboo
January 31st, 2014 - 3:22pmno who pays for the costs of recovery and restoration?
Doctor Rules
January 30th, 2014 - 7:15pmhey has anyone heard the rumours that seven episodes of Marco Polo have been returned to the bbc because a man recorded them with a cine camera back when the serial aired?

January 30th, 2014 - 7:17pmthat was in the papers weeks ago and the proposed releases date has long gone

January 26th, 2014 - 2:20pmSaw this in HMV and was very close to getting it but got Earthshock which was great and Seeds of death (…or doom, I’ll never get them right)
Johnny
January 30th, 2014 - 10:37am“Seeds of Death” was Patrick Troughton against the Ice Warriors.
“Seeds of Doom” was Tom Baker against the Krynoid.
simples.
Anonymous
January 30th, 2014 - 1:17pmThere’s an even simpler way, in Seeds of Death, they kill, in Seeds of Doom they turn people into plants (so they are doomed, but not dead).
100000BC
January 30th, 2014 - 3:27pmProbably Doom, I’m not sure you can get Death any more apart from in the revisitations boxset.
matparks08
January 23rd, 2014 - 10:34pmso what happens to the human beings who have the virus at the end of the story then?
Anonymous
January 26th, 2014 - 9:34amgood point
why do people point out plot hols cant they just enjoy the story
matparks08
January 26th, 2014 - 2:16pmI did enjoy the story and always have done, it just leapt out at me this time round 😉 What I have also got from the story this time round is that we see the most evil cybermen in the history of the series – when they reflect the rescue rocket so it can’t land and it heads off to its doom, all passengers aboard, to the sun on a possible one year trip – doesn’t get nastier than that!

January 23rd, 2014 - 12:30pmIts not looking like its going to happen. Dan hall/pup ltd last and only remaining commision is underwater menace. If bbcww do crusade it will probably like web and will be a reconstruction not animation. And even if crusade was commisioned with animation it would be well into 2015 and possibly 2016 before we would see it as it takes at least a year to do 2 eps.
Anonymous
January 23rd, 2014 - 12:34pmAnd by that point Ian Levine or Phillip Morris could have had some more luck with their respective searches which would render the releases pointless.

January 26th, 2014 - 9:35ami highly dout there are going to be moore finds atleast not for a while
A Walters
January 23rd, 2014 - 9:53amThis is a quality DVD. You can’t really criticise much of it. I just hope the underwater menace will be the same. I always liked the UWM, but before the discovery it seemed everyone else hated it haha I hope it really is more appreciated once it’s more complete on DVD.
As for people being upset that the DVD range has come to an end well…I don’t think it’s over yet. I’m sure they’ll release a few more special editions at a later date (Earthshock could do with one etc), and anymore discoveries they may make. Only time will tell I guess.
BlakeyBoy
January 23rd, 2014 - 10:26amNo, the range is over, they’ve said there are no more SE and if there are anymore recoveries then they will be done by BBC worldwide with no extras like enemy of the world and web of fear
Anonymous
January 26th, 2014 - 9:37amwell at least weel have them those poor se dvds we need will never see light
A Walters
January 27th, 2014 - 1:09amI’m sure once they stop producing them they’ll realise the money loss. Nothing’s really stopping them starting it up again at a later date. I never say never. Most people said never about finding more episodes. Look what happened haha
gordon
January 27th, 2014 - 9:42amThe special editions last year sold less than expected so its doubtfull they are going to back to something that sold less than expected.
AlzieWhozie
January 27th, 2014 - 2:46pmIf, and it’s a mighty if, SEs are done in the future, they will need to be pretty damn good. I didn’t buy Inferno SE as I was happy with the original and only got Aztecs SE to watch Galaxy Four stuff.
That said, the DVD range has been fantastic and big thanks to everyone involved – and if more episodes are found in the future, even if there are no extras, just the pleasure of seeing episodes thought lost are a mega extra in themselves. And we’ll still have the extras on the new DVDs
BaconRasherMan
January 23rd, 2014 - 2:03amGot it the Saturday before it was due out and I must say it’s such a relief to say it in amongst my DVD collection. Always had a soft spot for The Moonbase so I might be a little biased but I can’t get enough of it! Particularly the two Patricks and Anneke Wills give standout performamces here, along with (IMO) the best Cybermen of the entire series. A few trips and spills along the way but an extremely enjoyable one nonetheless, 8/10.

January 22nd, 2014 - 6:18pmThe quality of the animation and excellent sound quality leads me to think its time to complete a few more where existing material is in the ‘minority’…
Far better than those two animated Tennant stories they made…..

January 22nd, 2014 - 4:13pmInteresting to see the ‘coming soon’ ad for Underwater Menace. Wonder if they might suddenly hit us with the discovery of parts 1 and 3 and thats why its been delayed.
Excellent animation on Moonbase 1 and 3 by the way – the deaths of the cybermen look quite ghoulish….

January 21st, 2014 - 8:37amWell. I bought the DVD from Asda yesterday, watched it all the way through. I shall give it 4.5/5. It contained superb animation which helps bridge the gap even better than just the soundtracks from the Lost In Time Box-Set. The animation was a big improvement from The Reign of Terror. And the episodes themselves were superb with great performances coming from Troughton, Hines, Wills and Craze.
The coming soon trailer was for ‘The Underwater Menace’, very exciting to see out on DVD in a few months.
skaroman
January 21st, 2014 - 8:39amI shall pre-order the limited edition Web Of Fear from the BBC shop next month and buy the Underwater Menace when it arrives on DVD.
Anyone know any more news about the underwater menace?
Mr Booboo, is it possible for you to re-create the underwater menace page with the trailer for it and any other info?
Many thanks.
