Big Finish The Thirteenth Doctor Adventures The Return of the Doctor

Available to order from www.bigfinish.com

A return trip for the Thirteenth Doctor

Jodie Whittaker and Mandip Gill star in The Thirteenth Doctor Adventures: The Return of the Doctor, a full-cast audio drama due for release in September 2025 from Big Finish Productions.

The Doctor’s saved many worlds in her lifetimes, but what happens when she leaves them behind?

In The Return of the Doctor by Rory Thomas-Howes, Yaz discovers that adventures in time and space can have unintended consequences. The time-travelling duo set out to put right what has gone wrong since they left the planet Velazaar, but this task will test the Doctor and Yaz’s partnership to the limit…

The Return of the Doctor is the second instalment in brand-new audio series The Thirteenth Doctor Adventures, starring Jodie Whittaker and Mandip Gill as the Doctor and Yasmin Khan, as seen on TV Doctor Who from 2018 to 2022.

Doctor Who – The Thirteenth Doctor Adventures: The Return of the Doctor is now available to pre-order for just £9.99 (as a digital download to own) or £11.99 (download to own + collector’s edition CD), exclusively from www.bigfinish.com. Please note: the collector’s edition CD is strictly limited to 1,500 copies and will not be repressed.

Having saved the peaceful Zaarians from an evil alien threat, the Doctor and Yaz sail off to their next adventure. Only this time, Yaz wonders if they’re moving on, or running away.

Convincing a grudging Doctor to return to the planet, they are shocked to find the Zaarians in turmoil. What did the Doctor do? Why is the city in ruins? And what’s that voice in Yaz’s head…?

The Thirteenth Doctor Adventures: The Return of the Doctor guest stars Belinda Stewart-Wilson (The Inbetweeners) as Vashir, Charlie Kelly (The Terror) as Azaan, Will Kirk (The Gathering) as Talpa, and Stephan Bessant (Peaky Blinders) as Taav.

The story is the Big Finish debut of writer Rory Thomas-Howes, who said: “As a lifelong Doctor Who fan, it’s been such a thrill to write for the Doctor herself! Writing for Jodie, Mandip and all the incredible actors in this story was a dream come true, and I’m so grateful to Big Finish for this amazing opportunity.

“In The Return of the Doctor, I wanted to explore the strength of the friendship between the Doctor and Yaz, and also confront the distance the Doctor places between her, her companions and the universe she’s so often saved. Expect a planet of desert-dwelling armadillo people, a mysterious whisper, a spaceship full of secrets, and an order for the Doctor’s capture… dead or alive!”

The Return of the Doctor is the second of twelve full-cast audio drama adventures for the Thirteenth Doctor and Yaz, released bimonthly. Big Finish listeners can save money by pre-ordering all twelve releases in a multibuy bundle for just £102 (digital download to own) or £126 (download to own + collector’s edition CD), exclusively from the Big Finish website.

I really enjoyed the fun little videos they made during the pandemic. It’s great that Jodie seems to recognise the legacy that she’s now firmly part of. She’s become a great ambassador for the show.
