Big Finish 4th Doctor Series 13 Volume 1
Available to order from www.bigfinish.com
The Enigma of Doctor Who!
The Fourth Doctor, played by Tom Baker, meets celebrated mathematician and WWII code-breaker, Alan Turing, in a forthcoming full-cast audio drama from Big Finish Productions.
Foyle’s War actor Anthony Howell plays the famous computer scientist (who has recently been commemorated on the Bank of England £50 note) in a brand-new Doctor Who adventure, set for release in 2024.
Turing encounters the TARDIS team of the Fourth Doctor (Tom Baker), Harry Sullivan (Christopher Naylor) and Naomi Cross (Eleanor Crooks) in the first of three volumes of Doctor Who – The Fourth Doctor Adventures: Series 13. The story, entitled Worlds Beyond, by Robert Khan and Tom Salinksy, joins the previously announced Storm of the Sea Devils by David K Barnes.
Each volume of Doctor Who – The Fourth Doctor Adventures: Series 13 is available to pre-order individually as a collector’s edition box set (on CD at £19.99 each) and as a digital download (at £16.99 each), exclusively from www.bigfinish.com.
The newly-revealed titles and authors for each story across the trio of thrilling volumes are as follows:
Volume 1
- Storm of the Sea Devils by David K Barnes
- Worlds Beyond by Robert Khan and Tom Salinsky
Volume 2
- Matryoshka by Aurora Fearnley
- The Caged Assassin by Matthew Sweet
- Metamorphosis by Lisa McMullin
Volume 3
- The Face in the Storm by Sarah Grochala
- Dominant Species by John Dorney
Due for release throughout 2024, each box set contains brand new full-cast audio adventures for the Doctor, Harry and Naomi, taking them across galaxies and empires.
Of his performance as Alan Turing, actor Anthony Howell said: “It took a little bit of Internet research on Euclidean geometry and number theory, which was actually quite illuminating. Obviously, I knew about Alan Turing and his huge contribution to this country, and tried to play it as sympathetically as I could.
“There was very little recording of him talking, if at all, so I just went with the text of what Robert and Tom had written and played it appropriately, I hope. It’s a very interesting episode and a lot of fun to do as well.”
Big Finish Creative Director, Nicholas Briggs said: “Tom Baker started recording Fourth Doctor Adventures with Big Finish in 2011 and he’s still going strong. We’ve now got so many stories in the can we can plan releases right up to 2024, and this series includes some of the strongest and most diverse scripts yet.
“We’ll travel the Earth from the West Indes to West Bengal, and through time and space from an aristocratic manor house to an alien holiday planet. Alongside experienced Doctor Who writers like John Dorney and David K Barnes, we have some of Big Finish’s old hands finally writing their first Fourth Doctor scripts, including Sarah Grochala, Lisa McMullin and Matthew Sweet.
“Plus, it’s great to welcome a newcomer to our Doctor Who ranges with Aurora Fearnley, an experienced science fiction writer, making her debut with Matryoshka, which is as puzzling a story as it sounds.”
Producer David Richardson agreed: “This series is a mix of much-loved familiar elements and brand-new voices. Harry Sullivan is travelling with the Fourth Doctor again – but this time he has a new best friend in the form of Naomi Cross. We have the return of classic monsters, new friends and old enemies.
“Can’t wait until 2024? You can meet Harry and Naomi in UNIT: Nemesis, due out in November 2021. But how UNIT and the Fourth Doctor series are intertwined remains, for now, a mystery to be solved…”
Each volume of Doctor Who – The Fourth Doctor Adventures: Series 13 is now available to pre-order individually as a collector’s edition box set (on CD at £19.99 each) and as a digital download (at £16.99 each), exclusively from the Big Finish website.
Big Finish listeners can save money by pre-ordering a bundle of the entire series for just £54 (as a collector’s edition box set) or £48 (as a download).
Big Finish is currently operating a digital-first release schedule. The mail-out of collector’s edition CDs may be delayed due to factors beyond our control, but all purchases of this release unlock a digital copy that can be immediately downloaded or played on the Big Finish app from the release date.

March 31st, 2021 - 7:26pmWas Sadie Miller not available to reprise her Sarah Jane? I love Tom but even bringing in historical figures of Alan Turings calibre and Pertwee era monsters isn,t novelty enough for me. I think i,m going to pass on these boxsets like i did for similar reasons with series 8.

March 31st, 2021 - 11:10pmI know these are done usually a year or so before release so this must have been recorded prior to The Return of The Cybermen four parter. I, think i,ll wait till they can pencil in Tom, Sadie and Christopher as they worked so well together and had a good rapport on that release and I would like to hear more from that team. Also now we have a good Impersonation of Nicholas Courtney courtesy of Jon culshaw, they could add john levene and Richard franklin to the cast and we have the full original U.N.I.T team of sorts.

April 1st, 2021 - 12:20pmI,ve seen them coleman. I particularly liked his custom Menoptera and Fendahl. Very colourful displays. I,ve almost completed the Kandyman. One more bake should do it. I,ve started to do rebakes more because being the perfectionist i am, i never seem happy with the results and I am always finding faults. I,ve completed my plasmaton. You ,d think something like that would be simple enough but i,ve had so many Issues with size of legs and feet and getting detail right. Especially doing eaglemoss size. Did the auton troll doll but the colour mixed seemed too red rather than the reddy orange i wanted. So on with repainting that. If i can get four or five completed i will display. I think doing them Harrop size looks easier. With limited film and screen shots it can be difficult getting just right but i persevere. Dreading The Fishperson, more for colour than anything.

April 1st, 2021 - 12:46pmI know what you mean about not being happy with final result.
I baked both Kandyman and the Auton 3 times each before finally being satisfied.
(Just kept tweaking them then rebaking).

April 4th, 2021 - 8:50amMiller sounds as much like her mum as I do. And she’s not a very good actress. It makes PERFECT sense to go with a new character entirely.

March 31st, 2021 - 5:17pmYou got to love Big Finish whenever they announce anything ahead of release, 3 years ahead of release. The Sea devil story sounds great and WW2 stories are always amazing
