May 24th, 2022 - 2:53pmThose of you who have pre-ordered figures from Big Chief including the sixth Doctor. I e-mailed them to ask about how long the delays will be and they have confirmed that it won’t be until 2023. I suppose that also includes the Delgado Master and others pre-ordered at a similar time.
The ergon
May 24th, 2022 - 3:12pmI ordered sixth and master. With that news, god only knows when we might see 2nd or 5th. N,cuti 2024-2025? Its in BigChiefs interests to get these made. People are losing patience with all these delayed preorders as it is. Even though its often out of their control, its not good for business.
Jay
May 24th, 2022 - 3:33pmI agree ergon. They are aware I am not best pleased though as you say it is often out of their control, but wanted them to know that not communicating these delays and leaving us not knowing anything isn’t a good way to treat customers and the delays are not short delays. We will eventually get them, but it’s not good. I wouldn’t pre-order anything new at the moment just in case!

May 24th, 2022 - 3:38pmThere must be an issue with the Collectors market or something more regional.
Nearly every toy we buy including all the Character stuff comes from China and if these delays were universal toy shops would be out of business with no new stock to sell.
Jay
May 24th, 2022 - 3:49pmIt is concerning booboo. I know there have been lots of delays through other sites like Eaglemoss. The B&M sets took a lot longer to reach stores.
booboo
May 24th, 2022 - 4:21pmYes B&M sets were about 3 months from original anticipated dates, EM seems more Brexit or some internal issue as the stock exists, just not on the UK shop.
BC delays seem huge ( although the bobbles got out more or less on time), if these delays were universal s because China and brexit they toy market would collapse i’m sure.
The ergon
May 24th, 2022 - 4:07pmThe only preorders i make at present are the ones that take the money when the order is shipped. Big chief should allow options to stretch out installments if they are going to take over a year to come into stock. The limited time incentives arent enough. Eaglemoss could also adopt the preorder now and pay when in stock policy to reel and secure. Not pay now and recieve whenever.

May 24th, 2022 - 11:00pmI’ve never known BigChief to release their Doctor who stuff on time anyway. Even before Covid etc.
There’s always some excuse from them. Fair enough this time it probably is out their hands but 9 times out of 10 they always had an “issue” In the factory that delayed the product.
Haven’t bought direct from their site for some years now.

May 21st, 2022 - 10:14amIn the not too distant future when hopefully logistics are back on track, I,d like to see a new line/ range to coincide with the return of RTD. Figures/doll figurines in a 6 inch line with Who characters/ Enemies in cloth rather than plastic and more regular in the style of Big chief using photoreal technology.

May 20th, 2022 - 12:28pmProbably gone unnoticed but zoom have ceased trading, they had a good customer base for DW before being sold. what a waist of a good business that was.

May 20th, 2022 - 2:59pmApologies for my unawareness but what was zoom, out of curiosity? (I only collect the CO figures. XD) It’s sad to see stuff like this happen.

May 24th, 2022 - 4:12pmThis was such a waste. To begin with this was an amazing company and then when they got bought out they just went downhill fast.

May 19th, 2022 - 7:25pmDon’t know if you guys have seen Harrops latest announcement but the Dominator is not coming out in May now because of delays. It should be on Pre-Order for Friday 24th June.
The ergon
May 16th, 2022 - 12:33pmEaglemoss need a radical shake up. Could they not relocate manuafacturing to the uk, even in part? Its going to be difficult to get items to customers if they have anniversary sets planned?
booboo
May 16th, 2022 - 12:44pmMost initial work, design, cads, editorial is done in the UK but UK production of the actual product would push costs up 2-3 fold and make the product unviable, plus there is no readily available manufacturing base here for mass production of this type of item so huge set up costs before production could even start.
Also this is a WW product, which means UK manufacture with much higher costs would make WW sales even more unviable.
That’s why virtually everything we buy that’s mass produced from EM to BC to CO are all made in China.

May 16th, 2022 - 1:08pmDoes anyone actually know whats happening?
I’ve heard everything is suspended until August. Does this mean we’ll get all the backlogged issues then?
booboo
May 16th, 2022 - 1:12pmDoubt it, i think they will just “re start”, assuming they have enough subscribers left by then to warrant it.
Have tried to find out via more “official” channels but no luck.

May 13th, 2022 - 11:09pmHello!
I have been looking desperately everywhere for the Doctor Who Monster Invasion online cards that were released (the sets I can find were called ‘Attack’ and ‘Time and Space’)
Would anyone happen to have al of these cards in pdf/digital form (some are posted here already)?
booboo
May 14th, 2022 - 9:13ami think some one asked the same thing some time ago i could only find the ones on the site, they are probably somewhere but couldn’t find them.

May 15th, 2022 - 3:10amI seem to vaguely remember that is was 4 Online Sets from the site when available? Not sure if you had to have a Code from the Magazine to access them? Long gone now of course, but at the time I did download all the cards/backs & burnt them to disc. They are in a plastic box sealed away in storage with a lot of my other Doctor Who stuff. So no idea where they are unfortunately?

May 10th, 2022 - 6:24pmHi all, been a while since I’ve asked a question.
My question is are these 10th Doctor (2013 Diamond Packaging) Sonic Screwdrivers on eBay official ?
They seem to have come from nowhere and are selling for around £30.
Not too sure as I was looking to buy one but they don’t look right.
Would be interested to hear anyone’s thoughts.
booboo
May 10th, 2022 - 6:29pmi suspect they are old UT toys stock can we have a link?
Is it this one? https://merchandise.thedoctorwhosite.co.uk/diamond-classic-doctor-who-10th-doctor-sonic-screwdriver/
if so then its legit
The Silent Silent
May 10th, 2022 - 9:33pmThanks for the quick response Booboo,
here is one listing I have noticed which rings a few alarm bells:
http://www.ebay.co.uk
The Text “The Tenth” is spelt as one word “THETENTH” and the main body of the sonic doesn’t look right.
I have been purchasing Sonics since the 1st releases back in 2005/06 and this random surge of 50th Diamond packaging ones hitting eBay just seems a bit off.
The Silent Silent
May 11th, 2022 - 7:18pmYesterday I did try posting a link to the eBay listing I was referring to but I don’t think it got through.
booboo
May 11th, 2022 - 7:25pmyes found it, sorry it got blocked by spam filters but yes its legit, the UT “Diamond Classic” release from a few years back
The Silent Silent
May 11th, 2022 - 7:48pmOh right 🙂
I just thought the spelling of “THE TENTH” AS “THETENTH” was a little odd for an officially licensed product.
seems like a mistake some Chinese Factory manufacturing copies would do.
Rex Farrel
May 11th, 2022 - 10:06pmIt could be a bad/rejected batch, but that whole section of text is different (note the different apostrophe compared to the definitely genuine UT version). I’ve noticed a lot of counterfeit products having just one bit of retyped text, and I can never understand why the one little bit needs replacing (e.g. the dodgy Boris Karloff Thriller sets having newly typed “starring Boris Karloff”, and fake Metal Mickey dvds having a replaced “DVD” logo with bigger openings on the letter D… weird). It’s almost as if counterfeiters need a quick visual cue to recognise their own product.
booboo
May 12th, 2022 - 9:36amOK so looking at ebay there are ones on there with a date stamp of 13/06/2013 which all seem OK
There are others (including the one you saw) with a date stamp of 17/04/2014, a second batch, most of these don’t have “the gap”, but there is one that does, which complicates it, everything else is identical.
They all however have the factory embossed product stamp on the back.
At the time this was a low value product, with electronics, so “bootlegging” it seems odd.
So was this a factory error corrected mid production, if so they could have been sat for years in some corner.
stuff finding there way to market years later does happen, the Funko playmobiles, and recently the nesting dolls and Mr huffle for example.
As there were made for UT who dont exist now, and were probably shipped to the USA direct i doubt CO CS would know, One person who might is Al Dewar.

May 10th, 2022 - 8:11amI have a working 6ft Dalek and I’ve been recently ask to use it for promotional work for a friends business.
My question is:
Like music meaning paying royalties, does the same apply to the Dalek?
(or is it a no no).
If so who do you pay the royalties too?
booboo
May 10th, 2022 - 9:37amDifficult to know its all bit complicated
Dalek rights including the name “Dalek” are owned by the Terry Nation estate, the design of them by the BBC, they all tend to turn a blind Eye for charity work or non profit work, ebay self builds are often removed (or they used to be ) if sold as “Doctor Who Dalek” as http://www.thisplanetearth.co.uk have the official licence.
Also “Doctor Who” is owned by the BBC lock stock and barrel and i certainty would not use that for “commercial gain” if that invloved without permission.
Paul
May 11th, 2022 - 12:25amThank you Booboo for your comments, I have no intention of using the Dalek for my own gains.
I will contact https://www.thisplanetearth.co.uk/ and discuss with them next.
My intention is to have a bit of fun with it, not for profit. I just want to make sure what I’m doing is legal.
Thank you so much for your help.

May 8th, 2022 - 1:03pmNcuti Gatwa is our next doctor! Can’t say I’ve ever seen him in anything, but I like that, will have no idea what to expect as to his characterisation. Will be interesting to see the companion announcement(s) in due course as well.

May 8th, 2022 - 1:29pmHe is great in Sex Education…
Reading the blurb he is a fan of the show and RTD sounds as enthusiastic as ever (something I never got from Chibbs).
Looking forward to it even more now and with filming rumoured to begin in June guess we’ll know his companion soon enough.
