I have just found that Blackwell’s have the paperback version of the target storybook for only £5.99.
Does anyone know how they deal with the wraparound cover on the paper back?

I think Kris Marshall would make an excellent doctor, has that eccentricity whilst seemingly being very knowledgeable, I really hope he gets a chance

Like the idea of Olivia Coleman i think that ship has sailed. Its most likely a black female to take the part.

I think Richard Aoyade would be a good choice for the next Doctor.
I remember watching him over Christmas in an episode of catchphrase and thinking he was totally bonkers. Sought of character that would make a good doctor.

His acting isn’t that great though, he’s goofy and bonkers but it’s his entire personality, he’s intimidating in that he never breaks that character and acts like a proper human so if he was the Doctor I can’t see him being really approachable to fans. Plus they have to be able to be dramatic, angry, fierce, funny, goofy, regretful, emotional, heroic etc. at any time. I can’t see him being able to do anything other than his whole monotone, sarcastic, one note character

Doctor Stu i,m sure he has a more extensive range given the opportunity but he is a comedy actor first and foremost and that his his schtick. He does have that otherworldly alien quality that is a good starting point but to be fair i can,t think of many male black actors that spring to mind although why not keep it in the family and try out William Russells son Alfred Enoch. Hes a new fresh actor and mostly unknown in the same way that Matt Smith was( he was excellent in the Jodie Whittaker drama ‘Trust me’ and it would be a great opportunity. Micaela cole is a very good actress but i,ve only seen her more serious roles in I may destroy You and black earth Rising so the jury is out there. Jo martin knocked the role out of the park at the off and shes the perfect candidate and why not? It worked for Colin Baker after his one off role in Arc and jumped at the chance when it was offered by JNT and by no means of selection.

If they can say the doctor revisited the tom Baker face in the future then there’s no reason jo Martin can’t be the next doctor and a past doctor

Alfred Enoch isn’t new and unknown anymore he’s massive in America. And when you’ve been in Harry Potter the whole world knows who you are. I’m intrigued who Chibnall will pick. Jodie was quite a safe choice, so I’m imaging the next one he picks will be similarly as safe so it’ll probably be another actor from broadchurch.

He wasn,t able to stand out in such a wide A list and varied cast like Harry potter, Doctor Who could afford him that platform. He,d be a good choice.

Interesting to see Richard Ayoade and Micaela cole as bookies favourites to take on the 14th doctor roles should Jodie decide to step down. Others/outsiders including Kris Marshall, Natalie Dormer, Phoebe Waller Bridge, Reese shearsmith and Even Jodie Comer(although unlikely for Bridge and Comer as they are ubiquitous and in very high demand at present with Comers Hollywood career just taking off). I like the idea of Whoopi Goldberg but i think they will go with a British Black actor next time aroundas aforementioned. Any Thoughts?

Whatever happens the 14 Doctor will be female. Otherwise, the decision to change 54 years of a male lead to female will look like a failure.

I still wonder if the fugitive Doctor will turn out to be the 14th but think Chibs will be running that storyline upto and including the 60th.

Whoopie can appear in the show by all means but not as the new Doctor. I still prefer them to be a British actor.

I’d like Rupert Grint to be a future Doctor. And the first ginger one too.

I believe that it should be an actor of any gender, as along as their the best actor for the job. Personally, I would like to see Tom Ellis play the doctor, as from watching him in lucifer he is a fantastic actor, and has said before in interviews he would love to play the character. Even though, he has been in the show before he played a minor characters and so has other doctors like Colin and Peter. Also he is currently filming his final season of lucifer, so his schedule may be open.

Other actors, I would like to see are Gillian Anderson, but I don’t know if she’s available due to a show she’s in on Netflix’s doesn’t seem to be ending. Micheal Sheen and Hayley atwell, but she may be too big of a name, but you never know.

I agree that Whoopee could be a running Guest on the show but the more i think about it i,m warming more to the idea of Ayoade if jodie leaves. He does have those eccentric and idiosyncratic traits needed to make the part work and it ticks the black male actor but as You say Daz i do think they will continue with a female lead at least for the 14th role and yes i do think it should be be a black actor. It may return to the white male lead on and off in future if the series is successful.

I’d love it for it to be Tom Ellis. Kris Marshal a bit like Ayoade just doesn’t have the range. But it’s never gonna happen, I cant see them going white or male so soon. It’s 100% a woman. I just wonder who it’ll be

Daniel Kaluuya was hotly tipped to take over the role after Matt Smith left, but it ultimately went to Peter Capaldi. He’d be a good choice now, but as he seems to be enjoying great sucess in Hollywood at the moment, we might have missed out on his Doctor.
