@Booboo Any idea the height of the Big Chief Daleks? I know it’s 1:6 but I wonder how these will compare to Eaglemoss?

Just a little thought, is anyone still surprised that Eaglemoss hasn’t made a Clara Oswald figure yet?

Technically they’ve made an Oswin Oswald XD. But yeh it’s madness, but I’d rather a Martha or Donna or Wilf or Rory before Clara. Even though she’s amazing

Very funny ergon about (not as sorry as I am that I missed them).
Ive been out many a time and received one of those postal cards through the letterbox on return, its very annoying.
Don’t know about you ergon but the postal office I always have to pick up the parcels from is in Wath. It’s not even the town where I live?
I noticed on friends of Harrop this morning someone’s had number 12 and someone else has number 13, so it might be a very low number you’ve got. (fingers crossed).

This week I made myself a display rack out of pine wood and stained a Mahogany colour and fastened onto one of the walls. (I’ve put on collections).
I Literally had no more room to display my Harrop figurines. So by doing this I can display
another ten or so figures without taking much room up. So I’ll be ok for another couple of years still.

Thats the problem with collecting. you accrue so much but think ‘Oh, theres plenty of room left yet’ but it soon catches up with you. I have 2 cabinets, well i say two, ones the top part of what used to be a dresser. I still have stuff boxed away in the shed until i can afford to get a new cabinet which i,m going to do more rearranging and put cybermen daleks, doctors and companions on three different shelves.the rest for future releases of these.
I don,t know how much rack space you have coleman, but at least with the mahogany they,ll match. We have an extra spare room where i put mine where i go to get out of the way. The space is fine for now but someday i feel the room will start closing in. I,ll call it ‘The Invasion of space’.

Part of the fun in collecting, for me anyway, is in rearranging them all to create more space and putting up new displays. Always a good excuse to admire figures etc you’ve not had a look at recently 🙂

I keep thinking my display cabinet is full, but with each new purchase I’m still finding room – just!

Got some Eaglemoss recently, 3 Cybermen (Wooden, Revenge and Tomb leaders) plus Teller, Foretold, Robot Knight, Handbot, Kahler-Tek, Ice Warrior and Zygon. That’s 10 new figurines (for less than £30!) and have fortunately found space for them in my display cabinet.

The new display rack looks great Coleman.

Can’t think of anyone else though.

Its just a shame we get dripfed just one or two Issues at a time and we don,t get the news firsthand from Neil, like with the group photos of old. I,m aware that Issues can at short notice be subject to change and wonder if thats the reason. Its a good choice though and has been mentioned frequently amongst collectors.

If character get onto it then definitely. They already visually look like a better team than Ryan, Yaz and Graham as a collective. There’s something more dynamic looking to this new team. It’s just a shame with the track record so far that character development is probably going to be even less than series 11 and 12 if there’s only 8 episodes. Here’s hoping they all stick around

When should we expect an announcement of a series 9/10 steelbook release?

Would love a re release in the style they’ve made them for series 1-8 over the past few years and what with the initial series 9-10 steelbooks being non existent now it would be great to give people another chance at them.

Or I suppose the question could be put as will we ever get an announcement?

I’m not sure they’ll make one, they’ve already made all the Nu Who series on Steel book.
I know quite alot of people have mentioned they’ll revisit series 9, 10 and even 11, but it’s only fan speculation, nothing concrete.

really depends on the demand, i can’t see many people double dipping on these and so many people will all ready have them

    • Isran

      July 28th, 2021 - 12:54pm

Hopefully they do, would be nice to have them as a consistent art style as the old Series 9 and 10 don’t really match the set.

Fingers crossed I suppose. Imo it’s just odd how they’ve done a consistent style for 1-8 and one could argue Series 12 as well. Then just have Series 9-11 as the odd ones out that were released before they got going.

    • daz

      July 28th, 2021 - 4:24pm

We will get them as no doubt Series 10 will include TUAT as that is final part of Series 10 although it ended up a separate release originally

Series 5 got the ‘crack in time’ Steelbook too but that didn’t stop them re-releasing one with new artwork.

And the Biggie. Us Collectors love to double dip. That, and a lot of fans missed out on the first release. Easy way for BBC Studios to make more cash.

      Plus I want them.

Yes it is superb and best to get on Blu-Ray as it has extra features that aren’t on the DVD version. Can also highly recommend Chernobyl if you haven’t seen it, also available on Blu-Ray or through various streaming sites. The Day After is an American version of Threads but not quite as good but still worth watching, also can recommend Fail Safe, Twilight’s Last Gleaming and Dr. Strangelove if you are into pre – post nuclear armageddon type movies.

Bit of a random question, but anyone on here ever watched THREADS. Only recently found out about it. Totally missed it in the 1980s when it came out. Ive heard good things about it. On one hand it’s frightening, horrific even Depressing. On the other hand it’s very well made and a must watch.
Just wondering if it’s worth getting a copy to watch?

      July 27th, 2021 - 3:24pm

I saw threads when it was televised coleman and during all the tensions with russia and the USA. it wasn,t an easy watch in fact at the time it was truly really scary and depressing. i even remember saying to my mum at the time ‘They aren,t going to drop a nucleur bomb on us mum, are they? and she quietly reassured me they wouldn,t to relieve my angst, as mums do. I must have been a glutton for punishment as i watched the repeat some time afterwards. Some of it is a little dated now but the effect is still as powerful and its not something i like to return to or even talk about even now. The words nucleur Disarmament came as a huge relief when the Russians and US agreed to withdraw nucleur weapons and eventually signed the treaty in the early 1990s.
try catching it on Youtube Coleman if you must but believe me its not one to enjoy repeat viewings.

There are a few scenes in threads that remain indelibly on my memory.without spoiling it, its those images after the bomb drops and the eerily silence i can,t stand. One scene involving a young boy crying and his mother have always stayed with me. It brought it home with barry hines setting it in early 80s sheffield. It leaves you with a feeling of dread and leaves a terrible afterthought. I couldn,t watch it again. Nightmarish but a very well made production for its time.

    • Gordon

      July 27th, 2021 - 10:45pm

It haunted me for a while after I watched it. Especially the end shot. The blu ray was worked on by Peter Crocker of the restoration team so you know the picture quality will be good as it can look. Remastered in 2k for blu ray too.

If I can recommend something I would suggest when the wind blows. It’s an animated film made in the same style as the snowman and is a hybrid of traditional and stop motion animation using real life objects. It’s written by Raymond Briggs who wrote snowman and it’s about a couple who survive a nuclear bomb attack and attempts to get back to normal and it’s quite dark. The soundtrack is done by roger Walters from pink floyd and David Bowie sings the main title.

    • the ergon

      July 27th, 2021 - 11:26pm

When the wind Blows is quite dark as animation goes. Its the naivety of the two elderly characters who try to go about there everyday life after surviving a nucleur blast. It is quite upsetting to see these two lovely characters having to endure the nucleur winter especially as they are so charmingly voiced by the late Sir John Mills and Dame Peggy Ashcroft.

    • Coleman

      July 28th, 2021 - 10:41am

Hello Gordon and ergon, yes I’ve seen when The wind blows, many years ago, I found it intriguing. Just never seen Threads though, don’t know how I missed that one.
Someone’s mentioned it’s no longer on YouTube and they were hoping it would get relisted.
I’ll wait awhile to see if it ever does get relisted. Been looking at quite a few inserts of it on YouTube.
(It does look very realistic but grim).

    • Demdike@CultLabs

      July 29th, 2021 - 12:42pm

All this chat about the excellent Threads. Nice one.

I’d also very much recommend the superb one off drama The War Game from Peter Watkins. A BBC production from 1965 that was banned from tv for twenty years. It’s about a limited nuclear attack on Kent and is extremely disturbing.

It’s available on Blu-ray from the BFI along with another excellent Watkins docudrama Culloden.

They did a variety last year. They released a 13th Doctor companion set in the first batch, then later on in the year they released another 13th Doctor set.
I’m sure they will do more in future.

Yeah I like them doing a modern set each year too, like the 11th, 12th and 13th sets. I think it’s better mostly classics but one modern a year would be good too, appealing to people who watched only the modern series. But I’d rather it be figures we didn’t get before and want, or plausible repaint, or rereleases of rare things mostly. I’d say doing the Tennant era is their best bet but I’d love to see an official 5″ Clara figure.

    • Jamie

Prototype Dalek. With Anonymous saying (official) 5 inch Clara figure. In think he means not a Oswin Oswald figure.
I know their was alot of debate on the net quite a few years ago now that CO never actually made a true Clara figure. Only the Oswin Oswald red dress version and then some variants of that figure

    • Anonymous

      July 28th, 2021 - 5:13pm

Yeah I mean an actual Clara Oswald figure. The Oswin Oswald figure with toolbelt is great, an iconic outfit for the ‘Clara’ character, but a lot of fans want a proper figure of actual Clara, I hated that Oswin repainted purple dress. Clara isn’t my favourite companion but as the longest of new who it would be nice.

What plausible figures would they be able to make of her? I’d say her most iconic looks are the red/blue dress from Series 7 which we had 3″ figure of. NoTD, DoTD, ToTD outfits. Could an Ace be used for TMA/TWF Clara? I’d say her most iconic look is her last with the grey shumper look but don’t think they’d be able to make that. Clara and a Nardole are what is missing. I think a Clara Oswin Oswald figure would be really popular too.

      July 27th, 2021 - 11:58am

I have a worrying suspicion that they are two supreme Daleks from the Dalek Collectors set 2 release that B and M’s did a few years back. The classic daleks have a single screw that makes removing their heads quite easy, it would appear that the Dalek missing a plunger has the head of the Emperor guard Dalek which was also in the set.

I would be very careful as this may be an attempt to make a quick buck.

    • Anonymous

      July 27th, 2021 - 12:09pm

Im more or less certain it can’t be a factory error. (Knowing how factories work).
I know items get packaged in the wrong box’s its happened many a time, but for something to get packaged in the wrong box it has to be in stock at the factory at the time of production.
Can’t really see these being produced in the factory at the same time as the History one Daleks for this accident to occur.. (Anyway, just my opinion, don’t get conned).

Several choices in Terror of the Autons (I think quite a few want a Harrops Dafodil auton) and still a few in Claws of Axos.

    • the ergon

      July 24th, 2021 - 10:03am

Azal would need to be a fairly big piece if done accurately although if this is the case they could easily go for the Daffodil auton (obvious choice although they could do all three variants with policeman and Blank faced Auton) The Uxaerian High Priest or warrior with spear. Although I do wish they would reconsider doing Bok in all his grey weathered glory.

    • Coleman

      July 24th, 2021 - 10:54am

Hello everyone. If it’s true about Harrops not making any figures yet from The Daemons for season 8, I was running out of ideas. They’ve already made the Axon Man and Axon monster from the Claws Of Axos, so im not sure where they’ll get another three choices from this story. Also, even Booboo mentioned he couldn’t see it being from the Terror of the Autons as he couldn’t see them doing 2 or even 3 Auton variants so close together. (With possibly The Master included)
So as I mentioned above I can only think of The Colony in Space.
But we will find out soon, hopefully.
